Episode 02.

I got into the room and met my children.
I smiled at them.
” Dad, come and brush my hair for me” Mabel said.
She is five years while angel is seven years.
” Dad I want to help her but she refused” angel said.
I smiled.
I collected the brush from her.
I started brushing her hair as gently as I could.
” Dad, brush it gently” she said with her tiny voice.
” Am brushing it darling” i said .
” But dad you are hurting me” she whined.
I stopped.
“Am sorry dear”
” Come here princess let me do it for you” i heard mum’s voice.
She smiled and ran to her.
Mum brushed her hair.
” Grandma i like the way you are brushing it but dad’s doesn’t know how to do it” she said.
” Don’t worry princess.. your grandma will do it perfectly for you” mum said.
She smiled.
” I love you Grandma” she said.
” I love you too”
” Grandma please help brush mine too” Angel said.
” Okay my dear”
She finished Mabel’s hair and move to angel’s hair.
She finished it and peck their forehead they smiled.
” Kids will you please go play in your room? Mum asked.
” Yes grandma” Angel said.
They both ran out.
” Nathan, you see what am talking about.. even the kids are complaining” she said.
” Mum, they are not complaining” i said.
” How else do you want them to complain? They are just kids.. you can’t brush their hair.. am always the one taking care of them” she said.
” They are your grand children mum”
” And they your children Nathan” she half yelled.
I sighed.
” I understand Sarah has been the best wife and also the best daughter in law but what has happened has happened.. nothing can change that why don’t you consider getting another mum for these kids” she said.
” No one can replace Sarah’s place in my heart” i said looking at her.
” Nathan but..
” Mum please I will like to be alone” i said not looking at her.
She sighed and left
I got the frame hanged on the wall.
It is the picture of Sarah and I smiling.
Tears dropped from my eyes.
” Why Sarah?
” Why did you have to leave me?
” why didn’t you take me along with you?
” You promised to love me and be there for me all the rest of my life.
” Why didn’t you fulfil your promise.
” Why?
Angel and Mabel needs you.
” We all need you, why did you leave me so early? I cried.
It is all my fault if I didn’t impregnated you, you wouldn’t have die while giving birth to our child” I yelled in tears.
You would have been here with me and the kids.
I cried hard.

I stood at the door.
Nathan had been crying so hard
Blaming himself for Sarah’s death.
I felt bad seeing my son that way.
Sarah was the best wife and the best mother to the kids but it happened she died in the labour room while giving birth to their third child.
She died with the child three years ago.
It’s was a big blow to Nathan.
He sued the hospital to court after so much pleading he withdrew the case.
Ever since Sarah’s death he became cold.
He built walls around him.
He only smiled at the kids.
It’s been three years but he is still hurt..
He was once a loving and caring man but he is now quiet, snobbish, cold and ruthless.
Sarah’s death really got to him.
I got into inside and met him crying hardly.
I touched his shoulder.
He turned and hugged me tightly..
” It’s okay son” i said patting his back.
” Why did she leave me mom? Why did death took her away? Why mom?” He cried hard.
I sighed.
” It’s okay son.
?Rose ?
I woke up this morning.
I got into the sitting room and met mum there as usual.
I signed.
” Good morning mum” i greeted.
” Morning? Look at your time young lady, well I don’t blame you, you are such a lazy bone” she said.
” Mum I..
” Keep your f1lthy mouth shut before I reset your memory with $laps.. go into the kitchen now and prepare breakfast and when you are done I have lots of clothes for you there and when you are done make sure you clean the cars” she said.
” Mum…isn’t that too much?
She stood up and $lapped me.
” Too much? Uhn? But if you want to eat my food it is not too much for you right? Young lady get into that kitchen now before I pounce on you” she yelled angrily.
I scurried into the kitchen.
I prepared the breakfast and called mom and dad to the dining.
I took my portion of food going into my room
” Rose, where are you going? Dad asked..
I looked at mum but she looked away.
I sighed.
” To eat in my room” i said.
” Why? He asked.
” No my dear, sit and eat with us” he said.
” No dad I…
” Keep quiet young lady sit and eat your food” mum said.
I sat down and we all ate quietly.
I felt dad’s gaze on me.
I felt uncomfortable.
We finished eating.
I cleared and washed the dishes.
” Before I came back into the house, make sure you have finished all what I have to you and don’t use my washing machine if you don’t want to see h’ll on Earth” she said walking out.
I sighed.
If only my parents were alive.
I took the baskets of clothes and washed it for three hours..
Am very tired.
I got outside and washed the cars.
I got into my room tired.
Tears dropped from my eyes.
” If only my parents were alive, all these wouldn’t be happening to me.
Death why did you took my parents away from me?.
Mum, Dad why did you leave me to suffer this way?
I cried myself to sleep.
I felt someone touching my legs up to my th1gh.
I opened my eyes and was shocked to see dad.
” Dad” i called shocked.
” Shushhhh, don’t shout” he said covering my mouth.
