Chapter 79
“You better explain what is going on,” She hissed and walked back into the kitchen.
Martin sighed as his hands ran through his already messy hair.
“Oh no,” He groaned before walking into the kitchen.
“Who was that?” Evelyn asked immediately he walked in, and he sighed.
Her back was turned against him, and she didn’t even bother to turn around when she walked in.
“Hmmm, I really don’t know her,” He replied, and Evelyn scoffed, turning to look at him.
“Seriously, Martin? You still have the guts to lie to my face. How the heck did she know your house if she doesn’t know you?” Evelyn fired at him angrily.
“Babe, calm down. I seriously didn’t know her,” He said, and Evelyn scoffed.
“Can you explain how she got to know here then?” Evelyn said, folding her arms, and Martin licked his lips nervously.
For the first time, he was nervous. He didn’t want Evelyn to get angry after he tells her that his father wants him to get married to Maria.
He was so scared. He didn’t want to lose Evelyn for the second time.
“I am waiting,” Evelyn raised her eyebrows, and Martin chuckled.
He was kind of surprised that Evelyn was acting this way. He had never imagined her acting like this.
“On the day I went to visit my parents, that was the first time I met her,” He gulped down.
“Dad said he wants me to get married to her because he and her father were about to sign a business deal, and that is the only way he could accept the deal,” He said, and Evelyn scoffed.
She really felt hurt. The fact that his father wanted his son to get married to someone else, probably meant his parents were not going to accept her.
She was already in tears.
“But I refuse,” He said softly, making Evelyn stare at him. He moved towards her and gently took hold of her hand.
“I love you so much, Eve, and I wouldn’t dare marry someone else even if it is requested by my dad,” He said softly, and Evelyn just sighed, wiping the tears from her eyes.
“I know you won’t, but he is your father. If he can’t give us his blessings, then maybe we can’t get married.
I was really hoping for your parents to like me, get along well with me, and see me as their future wife too, but I don’t think so,” she said, tears falling from her eyes, and Martin sighed before wiping her tears away.
“But I want you, Eve, and you will be mine no matter what,” he said softly, and Evelyn just stared at him.
A part of her believed him, but a part of her was doubting if they were ever going to be together.
Probably if his parents don’t like her, they probably can’t get married.
No matter how much he might want them to get married, parents’ presence is mostly important in a marriage.
“It’s okay, sweetheart,” he said, and they both hugged each other.
“Hmmm, I think we will be late for work,” Evelyn whispered as they hugged each other, and Martin rolled his eyes.
“It is my company, babe. I can come anytime I want to, and no one will dare talk to me,” Martin said, and Evelyn chuckled before she broke the hug.
“Punctuality is important for a boss, so go get ready. After I’m done with breakfast, I will go and take my bath,” Evelyn said.
“Seriously, Eve, we can take our bath together when you are done,” Martin said, and Evelyn gave him a deadly glare, making him laugh nervously.
“Hmmm, I take back my words. I will go bathe alone,” he said and quickly walked out of the kitchen while Evelyn laughed.
“Such a spoiled person,” she muttered to herself and shook her head.
