Episode 55

“Zoey is safe as long as you comply,” I suddenly heard my father say as he walked in with a guard.

Finally.

His robe trailed on the floor as he approached and stood in front of me.

“Do you still remember me?” He asked, and I chuckled, but he immediately slapped me.

My mother flinched.

“Is it amusing to you?” he asked coldly.
“Huh? Is it amusing that you made a fool out of me in front of my throne?”

I bit my lip and remained silent.

“How could you, Zosar? How??? How could you abandon your own people for a stranger?”

I looked at him intently.

“A stranger?” I scoffed.
“Are you referring to Zoey as a stranger?

Just so you know, father, she’s the mother of my unborn child and the woman I plan on marrying.

So, when you’re done with your theatrics, you can release her from wherever you’re keeping her so we can leave together.”

“Zosar!” Mother whispered, and he sI.apped me again.

“If not for the fact you’re my only son, your head would’ve been rolling in front of me this very moment,” he said angrily, gritting his teeth.

“You’ve tempted me, Zosar – you’ve pushed me beyond your limits.”

He backed away for a while before turning to look at me again.

“Now, let me make this clear to you,” he said. “You’re either getting married to Rana tomorrow, or your girlfriend and unborn baby are put in danger.”

What?

I gave him a long stare and chuckled.

“Rana?” I asked. “I can’t believe that issue’s still on.”

“Yes, Zosar. You need to follow through with what you started. You’re getting married to her or they face dire consequences. Do you agree or not?”

“You’re dreaming, father. I’m never getting married to Rana.”

“Really? We’ve been together for years, Zosar. You should know me to be a man of my word. Do you really want to make this drastic decision?”

“If anything happens to Zoey or the baby, I swear, you’ll lose me too. If they die, I die.”

“Well, at least I’ll be at peace knowing you didn’t perish by my hands.”

I clenched my fists and tried with all my might to free myself from the chains, but couldn’t.

I was boiling with anger.

“Zosar, please,” Mother whimpered.

I exchanged a hard glare with Father, and he turned to the guard beside him.

“Go to Zoey, ensure her safety, and bring her here for him to see,” he instructed, and my eyes widened. What?

“Yes, my king,” the guard bowed and started walking out of the room.

“No. No. No, no,” I suddenly screamed, and the guard stopped in his tracks.

My eyes were almost popping out.

Father looked at me and smirked.

“Do you have any last words for her?” he asked, and I felt my eyes become watery.

“Please, don’t harm her. Just let her be,” I said hopelessly, and he turned to the guard.

“Go ahead with it,” he instructed, and the guard bowed and proceeded out of the room.

No! Zoey.

“I’ll do it!” I said helplessly, and he stopped.

“I’ll do what you want. I’ll marry Rana. Just please, don’t harm Zoey,” I added pathetically, and he smiled.

Zosar’s Pov:

“Good job, Zosar,” he said with a satisfied look.
“You’ve made a wise decision.”

My breath wavered as I became cold. I agreed to it.

“The preparations are already underway, and by tomorrow morning, all you have to do is put on your robe and march in with Rana,” he stated and turned around to leave.

“Zoey,” I called, making him stop.
“I…I need to see her. Where is she?”
