THE MAN IN MY DREAMS : CHAPTER 21 – 30

Chapter Twenty Two

Everyone gathered round the table, waiting for Ava.

“Sorry I’m late” she said and quickly sat down.

As they carried their fork, ready to eat, Ava stopped them.
“Wait!” She yelled.

“What is it Ava?” Erica asked softly.

“We have to pray!”

“Argh!” They groaned loudly.

“We waited for you for more than five minutes, what else? I’m starving!” George said.

“Sorry for the inconveniences but we really have to pray. My mother was a woman of faith and she expect us to thank the Lord for everything”

“I don’t go to church” Calvin said.

“I read my Bible once in a while” Erica said.

“I don’t even have a Bible” George added.

“See, that’s why we have to pray”

“Fine, let’s pray” Erica said.

“Who’s gonna pray for us? Uhh, Kelvin, can you pray for us?” Ava asked.
Everyone diverted their gaze to him, waiting for him.

“I don’t know how to pray” he said in his cold voice.

“It’s okay, people do try!” Ava gave him hope.

He sighed and placed his hands together.
“Lord, we thank you for this wonderful meal. Amen!”
He said and started eating.
Everyone joined him while Ava just shot her mouth wide open. She didn’t say any more word. She grabbed her fork and started eating.

After eating, everyone went back to their houses.

“Can I resume work on Monday?” Erica asked Calvin as she excorted him to the car.

“Sure, that’s if you are fully healed” he said.

She smiled.

“You take care of yourself!” He ruffled her hair before entering into his car.

Erica waved them goodbye and sighed.
“Argh!” She groaned and walked into the house.
.
.
“I should get an assistant also!” Kelvin said, staring at his phone.

“Why do say that?” Calvin asked.

“Why do you wanna know?” Kelvin asked and stare at his brother.

Calvin scoffed.
“Are you jealous of I and Erica?”

“Why do you say that?”

“You’ve changed a bit. The Kelvin I know won’t visit a girl, the Kelvin I know won’t even wait for dinner at a girl’s house”

“I can. I just don’t enjoy doing any of that” Kelvin said.

“Oh really, then prove it!” He said.

Kelvin sighed and walked out of the car. Calvin quickly followed him in.

“You are ignoring me Kelvin, why? Cos you are a loser?” Calvin said.

Kelvin just ignored his brother and walked into the house.
“Let me be Calvin!” He said.

“Fine! If you what you really are, here is a VIP ticket to a party. Go there!”

Kelvin stopped walking. He recalled what Calvin said and turned to meet him.
“Do I really have to go?”

“If you want to prove yourself, then do it!” Calvin said.

“What’s going on here?” Barbie asked as she walked down the stairs.

“Mind your business Barb” Kelvin slipped his arm into his pocket.

“Look here lil sis. Kelvin here said that he’s an extrovert and I’m telling him to prove it”

Barbie chuckled.
“Extrovert my foot! You are an introvert dude, a ¢razy one!” She said and sat on the couch.

“I’m an extrovert, not an introvert”

“Then prove it!” He said.

Kelvin squeezed his face and turned to face his sister.
She nodded at him, telling him to also prove it.

“Fine!” He grabbed the ticket from him and stared at it.

“It’s a club”

“Yes and to fully prove yourself, you have to bring home a lady” he said.

“I’m not doing that. I’ll only go to the club”

“And I’ll be your escort to make sure you are there”

Kelvin rolled his eyes and walked away.
Calvin and Barbie gave themselves a high five.

“I have to call dad” Calvin thought as he went to his room.

“Yes dad, it’s pretty urgent” Calvin said to his father as he walked down the stairs, towards the dinning.

“Okay dad. See you on Monday” Calvin said and disconnected the call.

He got to the table and sat down.
“Good morning y’all” he said.

“Were you talking to dad?” Barbie asked and Calvin nodded.

“Why is that?” Kelvin asked.

“Well, he’s needed at the station” he said.
Kelvin and Barbie furrowed their eyebrows, giving him a questioning look.

“Erica’s late father was dad’s personal secretary” he said.

“You mean the man who made us picked us with a cab then” Barbie rolled her eyes.

“Yes. And I understood why he did that. It’s all Erica” Calvin explained.

Mr Greg sat in his office as Mr Bruno stood in front of him.

“You summoned me sir!”

“Yes, I did” He said and raised his head to stare at Mr Bruno.
“My children are flying into the country today. You should go pick them at the airport”

“Yes sir!” Mr Bruno said and left the office.

As he walked towards Mr Greg’s car, his phone rang.
“Hey honey”

“Baby, can you help me pick up Erica at school? I’m stuck in traffic”

“Uh… I have to..” he doesn’t know how to say no to his wife.
“Fine, I will” He said and disconnected the call.

He got into the car and ordered the driver to drive to Erica’s school.
They got there and he went into the school to pick up Erica.

“I’m here to pick up my daughter”

“I’ll get her now” her teacher said and went into her classroom.

“Erica! Erica!” She called out to her, but she was asleep. She got tired after waiting for her mother to come pick her up.

“Erica!”

“Dad!!!” She yelled and quickly raised her head.

Seven year old Erica sprung up and took her bag.

She ran out of the class. She bumped into her father.

“Hey little princess, why are you running?”

“Dad? Are you going to the airport?” She asked.

Her father furrowed his eyebrows.
“Yes I am, what happened?”

“Don’t come back with the driver” she said.

Immediately, he knew that her daughter had another dream. He quickly hugged her and kssed her forehead.

“Thank you princess!”

After picking up the kids from the airport, the driver was angry that he wanted to take them home with a cab when their ride was available.

“I’m going to report this to boss!” He said and got into the car

“No, don’t go!” Mr Bruno yelled but he didn’t listen. He increased his speed and zoomed off.

Erica’s father got into the cab with everyone and zoomed off.
“Why are we going with a cab?” Twelve year old Calvin asked.

Erica stared at him and rolled her secretly. She hated silly questions especially from rich people.
She diverted her gaze away from them and stared out of the window.
.
“Mr Bruno!! I ordered you to pick up my children and you came back without the driver. How dare you stuff my children in a little cab?!”

“I’m sorry sir. I was.. trying to save their lives” he said.

“What in the world are you saying?”

Immediately, his phone rang. He disconnected it and faced him.
“As I was…”
The phone rang again. He angrily picked it up.

“Who is… Yes, I am Mr Greg! What?!” He yelled and glared at Mr Bruno.
“Thank you, I’ll be there soon!” He said and disconnected the call.

“The driver got into a fatal accident” he said slowly.
But Mr Bruno still lowered his gaze.

“My children suppose to die by now. Thank you for… Saving them. I need to go to the scene” he said and left the office.

He left, confused. He even wondered how he saved his children but he preferred to leave.

.
“So, I’ve met Erica while we were little” Calvin said to himself.

“And she did save both your a$s. Well, I’m glad I didn’t visit dad then, so she didn’t save me” Barbie said and continued eating.

“She has an ability that whatever she dreamt of would come to pass”

“That’s not a thing!” She added again.

“Well, I believe it” Calvin said.

“Why are you helping her with this case?” Kelvin asked.

“I don’t know. I just want to” he replied.
Kelvin scoffed and continued eating his breakfast.

.
“Erica! Erica!” Ava yelled as she ran into the house.

Erica walked out of her room, frowning at Ava.
“Why the screaming?”

“Guess what’s him in the bag?”

“What?” She folded her arms carefully not to hurt herself.

“I got us two tickets to the club and… Two beautiful dresses!”

“Yay!” Erica softly cheered and rolled her eyes. She walked to the room but Ava followed her in.

“Why aren’t you happy?” She asked.

“What am I going to do there?” She asked.

“You shouldn’t worry too much. I’m here with you, I’ll stay with you all through the night”

Erica stared at her friend with disappointment on her face.
“Ya right!”
