Chapter Twenty Five

Erica gave a soft chuckle when she heard Kelvin asking that question. She stopped laughing for a second and faced him.

“If I say no, what would be your reply?” She asked, moving close to him.

“The door’s right there, get yourself out of my office”

She nodded, trying not to laugh.
“Then if I say yes, what would you say?”

“What type of car do you want?” He asked calmly, slipping his hands into his pocket.

Erica furrowed her eyebrows and folded her arms.
“Why are you being nice to me? Then you were cold and heartless”

“According to my family, they want me to change and I’m doing this because of my mom” he said and walked to his table.

“Woah!” She muttered.

“Why are you woahing?” He asked and sat on his chair, drawing himself closer to his desk.

“I thought you were going to lie to me” she smiled.

“I don’t lie. I’m not good at that” he said, working.
He felt Erica as a distraction and also an entertainer.

“I don’t believe that. All men are liers” she said and walked to his table.

“I’m not” he said without looking at her.

“Then proof it!” Erica softly banged her hand on the table.

Kelvin raised his head. He opened his mouth, wanting to talk when the door flung open.

“Hey guys, sorry for ruining your conversation. Come on Erica, we have to go. The detective is here already” Calvin said as he entered into the office.

Kelvin placed his pen on the desk, watching how she followed Calvin out of his office.

“I see your birthday is this weekend, any plans?”

Kelvin heard that. He lowered his gaze, thinking about the birthday. After which, he shook the thought from his head.

“Why do I care?’ he murmured.

“It’s nice to finally meet you in person, Mr Greg” detective Josh said as he checked out some file. It was Mr Bruno’s personal information years ago when he worked in the company.

Mr Greg just diverted his gaze away from Josh and checked his wrist watch.
“I don’t have the time in the world to spend here with you. Hurry up!”

“Sure, let’s hurry up” Josh said with a fake smile and continued staring at the file.

He closed it after few seconds and slammed it on the table. Calvin and Erica just watched from distance. George was also present.

“He was a manager in the company then before he was given a promotion”

“So?” Mr Greg asked.

Josh grabbed a chair and sat in front of him.
“Tell me, did you ever have a problem with Mr Bruno?” He asked.

Mr Greg sighed and diverted his gaze away from him.
“No, I didn’t”

“Nice, you are lying to me Mr Greg. I’d like this talk to go smoothly and honestly. You said you wanted to leave quickly huh? Then make it possible, did you ever have any problem with Mr Bruno, your ex assistant?”

“I said I didn’t”

“Don’t lie to me Mr Greg?!!!” Josh yelled at him. He didn’t care about his status.

The bodyguards behind Mr Greg cocked their gvns, ready to shoot.
He raised his hand, stopping then from shooting.

“Fine, you want to hear the truth. Then here’s the truth” he said.

After Mr Bruno saved little Kelvin and Calvin’s life, they never let leave reign at home. They got home that day and told their grandfather everything.

“Grandfather, the man didn’t let us off his sight for a bit. He was so caring and loving. His daughter was there with us…”

“Shut up Calvin!” Mr Greg yelled. He hate as his son told his father about some other man that saved his life.

Kelvin just ate silently, watching the drama.

“Come on Gregory, let my grandson speak. Talk to me my child, what is his name? I should compensate him for saving you two life” their grandfather spoke.

“Thanks grandfather…”

“My father loved him so much. Sometimes he would come to the office just to see Mr Bruno. He gave him some landed properties and a car. When he almost died, he told Mr Bruno his last words. That was supposed to be my spot, but he stole it”

“He never wanted any of that. My father was just naturally kind and caring. He never lived a fake life that made people to love him for who he truly is. I still don’t understand why someone would ever try to kll him and mom!” Erica spoke with tears in her eyes.

“So, you didn’t do anything to kll him” Josh asked.

“Well, I did try once but I guess his daughter saved him… Again!” He said, glaring at Erica.

Erica rolled her eyes and diverted her gaze away from him.

“What did you try doing?” Josh asked.

“I can’t remember. It’s being a long time but I remember hiring someone to do the job for me” he said.

Josh stared at Erica who was confused, trying to remember something.
“You sent Harris, huh?” She asked.

Mr Greg nodded.
“Yes, yes I did” he said.
“How did you know his name?”

“Well, the id!ot you sent to kll my father fell in love with my aunt and they got married after they d!ed. You sent him to kll my dad the day he was on leave but he had to travel out of town that day so you missed him. I didn’t save him”

“So, where’s this Harris?” Josh asked.

“The same place you arrested the first suspect” George replied, tightening his fist.

“You are still our suspect Mr Greg. If we find any trace of you involved, we’ll let you know. Thank you for cooperating with us” he said and head out.

George and Erica followed him.
“Are you going to the house? Uncle Harris is quite smart” Erica said.

“You don’t need to worry too much Erica. I’ll get a search warrant first”

“I’m coming with you” George said.

“Let me come with you…”

“No Erica, I’ll be fine.. you didn’t have any dream about me huh, so I’ll be fine. Just stay here” George said and left the company with Josh.

Erica went into the office seconds later.
She saw Mr Greg. He was already leaving.
She watched as he walked towards her.

“You are the one who saved their lives, so thank you. I’ve always wanted to meet you”

“She’s also the one who saved your wedding”

“Ohh, I see. You are my hero then” he said and shook hands with Erica before leaving the office.

“I’ll be back. Go for a break” Calvin said and excorted his father back to the roof.

“You mean, all of that happened today?” Ava asked, sipping from her juice.

“Yes, it did. You should have take me home Ava! At least it’s better for me to mess up my bed that his”

“Do you know what I’m thinking?”

“What?”

“What if Kelvin was actually the man in your dreams and not Calvin?”

Erica sat up and frowned.
“Calvin is the one. Can’t you see he’s kind and also helping us with the case”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I see that but I think it’s Kelvin” Ava said again and sipped from her juice.

“Speaking of juice, what did you say Kelvin called that stuff again?”

“Monthly juice?” Erica said and they both laughed together.

“Oh jeez, that was funny. I just hole they find your parents culprit soon. If it’s not aunt Winnie or Mr Greg, then who is it?”

“I think that id!ot is watching us closeby. You should also be careful nowadays, what if he decides to attack you?” Erica said with worry in her voice.

“Relax, if he try to harm me I’ll just flirt with him. I’ll be like, hey cute assassin, how are you doing?You look hot, wanna take me for a ride?”

Erica shook her head in pity.
“You just take care of yourself and don’t go out late at night” she said and took her orders and the stuff she asked Ava to bring earlier and turned to leave the Cafe.

“Oh yeah, Erica!” She yelled.
She stopped and turned to stare at Ava.

“Huh?”

“Happy birthday in advance sweetheart”

“Thanks Ava” she replied and left.

Josh and George got to the house and walked towards the door.
“You just stay back” Josh said.

“Why? I didn’t come here to stay back. I want to help!” George replied.

“Fine, just don’t barge in” he said and pushed the doorbell.

“Who the fk is that?!”
They heard a harsh reply and stepped away from the door.

The door opened as Harris burst out of the house.
“I’m detective Josh and this is…”

“George…” Harris said with a deep voice, he walked towards George and frowned at his face.

“Oh George!!!” He said and hugged him tight, carrying him up and down like a baby.

“Put me down!” He yelled.

“Sure!” Harris finally put him down.
George adjusted his suit jacket and moved farther away from Harris. He didn’t want to be carried again.

“Well, we are here to interrogate you. Years back, Mr Greg sent you on a mission to kll Mr Bruno, how do you after finally klling him and his late wife?”

Harris furrowed his eyebrows.
“I didn’t kll Mr Bruno, Mars did!”
