Chapter Twenty Seven

Barbie dropped her napkin and followed Kelvin into his room. He had taken off his shirt already, ready to have his bath.

“Why were you upset?”

He heard his sister voice and turned to stare at her.
“Why are you in my room?”

“Don’t answer my question with a question dude. Why were you upset when Calvin spoke about surprising Erica on her birthday?” She asked again, folding her arms.

“You got to be kidding me. What makes you think I was upset?”

“Then why did you leave the dinning with that angry looking expression on your face?” She asked, moving towards him.

“I have no idea what you are talking about. Just leave!” He said and walked towards the bathroom.

“Are you crushing on Erica?”

When he heard that question, he stopped and faced her.
“Are you nut?”

“I think you are the one who’s nut here. You’ve changed and… It’s kinda weird. You aren’t fierce anymore, you are just acting nice”

“Is there any rule in my life that says I can’t change huh?” He questioned.

“I don’t care and also don’t give two fks about it. I’ll advice you to stay away from Erica, she doesn’t deserve you nor Calvin. If you need a woman, I can help you find one that is classy and sxy. Not one low class bch..”

Before she could complete her sentence, Kelvin slapped her hard across the face.
She gasped and held her cheek. She glared at her brother, breathing hard.
She didn’t even see any pity in his eyes.

“Leave!” He said and entered into the bathroom.

Barbie still couldn’t believe that her brother would raise his hand to her just because of Erica.
“Argh!” She groaned and stormed out of the room.

Calvin was in front of the mirror as Erica helped him wear his caramel brown jacket.

“All set!” She said with a smiley face.

He adjusted his tie and stared at Erica.
“I didn’t get a call from your brother last night, what happened?”

Erica swallowed hard and lowered her gaze.
“He was injured..”

“What? How’s that? What happened? Are you injured too?” He asked, touching her hand.

Kelvin suddenly entered into his room and saw them holding hands. He just fixed his gaze at their hands before staring at his brother.
“Let’s go bruh!” He said and left.

“I will be out soon” he said and slowly left Erica’s hand.

“I’m not injured sir, thank you” she said.

“That’s a relief” he smiled.
“Let’s go already!” He added and they left.

She nodded and followed him behind. They got into the car and head to the company. Kelvin just stared outside the car, not interested in any of Calvin and Erica’s discussion.

“I don’t think he’s gonna come to the company today. He’s really hurt, physically and emotionally”

“I understand. But, your aunt mentioned something about your being able to dream of things while it come to pass”

Erica shot her eyes open as a frowned followed.
“Argh! Aunty Winnie, blabbermouth!!!” She thought.

“Huh?” He asked again, snapping her back to reality.

“Well, it’s true” she said.

Kelvin slowly turned to listen to their conversation. He found that one interesting.

“How did that happen?” He asked.

“It…”

“We are here master” they heard the driver say.

Erica hurriedly alight from the car. She didn’t want to discuss things like that with him.

Calvin and Kelvin both alight from the car and head into the house.

“Erica?!”
They heard someone calling from behind, only to turn and see Olivia.

“Hey Olivia?”

“Hold your greetings id!ot!”

Calvin and Kelvin both watched as everything happened right in front the them. They wondered what she was doing here.

Erica just wore a smile, staring at her.
“So, what do you want?” She asked.

“I just wanted to resign from my job. And all thanks to you, they think I was the one who made you cut your stupid palm”

“But I never told them to suspend you” she said.

“It doesn’t matter, I’m leaving the company but just remember you have less than a week. If you don’t show me who your new boyfriend is… You’ll have to resign also” she said and walked towards Calvin.
She shoved her resignation letter into his hand, wearing a se..ductive smile.

“If you’d made me your assistant, nothing will be deprived from you!” She whispered into his ears.

Erica couldn’t help but laugh. She didn’t want to tell Kelvin about her mistake.

Kelvin grabbed the letter and tear it into two.
“What do you have that I won’t be deprived of? A flat a**?” He asked.

“Ouch” Erica whispered.

Calvin coughed out a laugh.
“Next time, figure out who you are about to talk to before you talk” he said and fummed into the entrance.

Erica walked towards her.
She leaned forward and drew her lips closer to her ears.
“Less than a week remaining baby” she said and walked away after Calvin.

“You also know Olivia?” Calvin asked Erica as she arranged some documents on the table.

“Yes sir, we grew up together, also with Ava”

“I pretty much prefer Ava, just that she’s a blabbermouth” he said and Erica smiled.

“She mentioned something about.. boyfriend”

“We’d better not talk about that” she said and turned to walk to her desk.

“Erica?” He called out, walking towards her.

“Sir” she answered and swallowed hard.
“Why did he stand up? Why is he walking towards me? Why is he so cute?” She thought in her head but just gave a simple expression outside.

“Remember, don’t treat me as your boss buh as a friend” he said.

“I remember that sir” she murmured.

“And I promise to do anything to help you” he said.

“Thank you sir, you’ve done so much” she murmured.

He smiled and ruffled her hair.
“Take those documents to my brother and tell him to take his time reading the contract. There are some hidden details in it”

Erica hate when she’s always in front of Kelvin’s office.
She smiled weirdly and grabbed the documents.

“Yes sir” she murmured.

“Don’t worry, I know my brother is a little harsh on you but he’ll come around soon” he said.

She just nodded and left. She has heard a lot of comment like that.

She got to Kelvin’s door and knocked the door.
“Come in!”
She heard his regular cold voice.
She sighed before twisting the handle.

“I was asked to give this to you and…”

“Why the rush? Talk slowly” he said. She furrowed her eyebrows at his warm interruption. She never expected that.

“He said you should read the contract well because there are some hidden details in it” she said slowly.

“Good, anything else?” He asked and she shook her head.

“You can leave then” he said, trying to be nice.

Erica smirked and turned to leave.
Kelvin lowered his gaze. He thought he wasn’t nice enough.

“Wait Erica!” He said and walked towards her.

“Oh no no” she thought. She doesn’t know what she wants to do with her now but she knew he was going to mock her.

“I want you to be my teacher” he said.

“What?” She murmured.

“Are you surprised?”

“No, I’m not. Teacher? I can’t teach, you are smart already”

“I know I am. I want you to teach me how to be nice and how to tolerate” he said.

“Wow, that’s good and it’s gonna be hard”

“I’ll pay you for it”

“No, I didn’t ask for your money. If you want to be nice, you don’t need to act it. It will make you look fake it all comes from there” she said but Kelvin didn’t understand anything she said.

“Comes from where?”

She leaned forward and touched his chest, poking him hard.

“Ouch, that was my brea$t” he said.

Erica closed her mouth and laughed silently.
“Jeez! What brea$t?” She asked, laughing hard.

She raised her head and saw him smiling.
“You’re not that bad”

“What makes you think I’m bad?” He asked and leaned on the table.

“My first impression when I met you, you yelled at me and almost made me cry”

“Well, I apologise for that. You should go now, your boss might need you. We’ll start the lesson anytime I’m ready” he said and head to his chair.

“Yes sir!” She bowed a little and left the room. She remembered what he said the other time that made her to laugh, she sucked in her lips, careful not to laugh again.

Kelvin watched as she head out of his office. He smirked and continued working.

Erica got into the office and saw that Calvin had a visitor, it was Josh.

“Erica, look who’s here. He wanted to discuss something with you” Calvin said.

She walked towards Josh and raised her eyebrows.
“What do you want to say?” She asked.

“I was thinking if your parents kller was aiming at your mother and not your father”

She lowered her gaze, there was a point in what he was saying.

“I don’t know about that. What about Mars? The one George told me about”

“There’s something weird about the fire at the station. It was sudden. I just need to find out what your mother was doing before she died. Who was her enemies?”

“You’ll have to ask from her number one enemy, Aunt Winnie!”
