Chapter Thirty Four

Ava slipped her phone into her back pocket. She was still feeling restless.
“What did he say?” Casper asked.

“He’s gonna be back soon” she replied.

Casper sighed deeply and sat on the chair. He started receiving calls from his fellow CEO about his company.

Kelvin was in his car outside the hospital. He took drugs the doctor gave to him and threw the remaining at the backseat.
He was waiting, hoping and wishing that Erica would respond to treatment. But he was wondering who would have put a b®mb in the bag and why.

He was starting to feel interested in Erica’s mother’s case. He wanted to help her with the case but he still didn’t want to feel drawn to her. His brother was already close to her already.

He grabbed his phone when an idea popped on his head.
“Hello, this is Kelvin… I need a secret investigator” he said.

After making the call for about ten minutes, he decided to drive home. He could check on her when no one is there. He started the engine and zoomed off.

“Oh thank goodness you are okay” Barbie quickly hugged her brother as he walked into the house.

“Yeah I am. Get your hands off me” he quickly said as he felt disgusted with her touch.

“Why did you have to save her? What if you are the one in Erica’s condition? Mom would have gone ¢razy”

“I’m fine as you can see. Now excuse me…” He said and shoved her aside and walked into his room.

Barbie frowned and went back to her room. She was happy that Erica was injured but didn’t like the way her brothers were sticky.

She decided to call Olivia to ask her if she had a hand in this.
“Did you see the news girl?”

“What news? You just woke me with your calls” she yawned.

“Oh… That means you talking to me with a stinky breath?”

“Just go straight to the point already!” Olivia yelled.

“Fine. Erica’s badly injured. It’s all over the news. The assistant CEO is badly injured due to a b®mb blast in the company. Girl… Isn’t that great news? So tell me, how did you come up with such great idea?”

Olivia was confused. She didn’t expect to hear such h®rrible great news this morning.

“Okay? That’s a great news. But I didn’t plant any bomb at the company” she said slowly.

“What? Then if you didn’t, who did?”

“I should probably add Dylan. He would have done it”

“Hey ladies, what’s happening?” He yelled due to the loud music at the background.

“Turn down the music dude” Olivia said and sat up from her bed. Now she really wanted to know if he really planted the b®mb.

He went to reduce the volume and went back to the call.
“So what’s up?”

“The sky id!ot… Did you plant at bomb to hurt Erica?” Barbie asked.

“Oh no, I didn’t. I was even planning to drug her and… You know, have my way with her. If she doesn’t want me to have her, I’ll have her by force” he said.

“I was also planning that then send the pictures to her stupid boss so that she can get kicked out of the company” Olivia smirked.

“First of all, my brother is not stupid and if none of us didn’t plant the b®mb then who did?” Barbie asked.

“Does that matter?” Dylan rolled his eyes.

“She has a lot of enemies though. They are always trying to kll her just because she opened her parents case so the culprit is trying to kll her and her brother so that he wouldn’t go to jail”

“That’s very bad. I feel so bad for her already. She has gone through a lot” Barbie said softly.

Olivia and Dylan started laughing.
“You are funny Barbie. What are you going to do now? Go visit her at the hospital? Lame!” Olivia said and disconnected the call.

“I have to get back to my music now so… Later bch” Dylan said and also disconnected the call.

Barbie dropped her phone on the bed, thinking about what Olivia said. She shook the thought off her head and went into the bathroom.

Ava and Calvin were in Erica’s room. They were just staring at her. She was in a bad shape. An oxygen mask was fixed on her face, her ankle was bandaged, her head and some other part of her body was filled with bruises. The room was filled with flowers and other gifts from well wishers.

“Is she going to wake up?” Ava murmured.

“We just have to hope and pray. There was many more surprises I had in store for her. But this had ruined everything already” he said.

“I’m just going to stay right here till she wakes up. You should go home”

“Why? I can also wait for her. I feel it’s my fault”

“You know Erica wouldn’t like it if she finds out you’ve been waiting for her” she tried to convince him.

“Fine. I’ll leave. But I’ll be back in the evening” he said and left. Ava watched as he left. She sat beside Erica holding her hands, hoping she wakes up soon.

Calvin pulled over in front of the house and marched into the house. He sighted Barbie watching television. He rolled his eyes and walked pass her. But she ran towards him and stopped him.

“What do you want Barbie? I’m in a bad mood” he said frowning.

“Yeah, it’s obvious that my brothers are in a bad mood because of a girl named Erica. What has she done to deserve your love and care? She’s just a regular girl. If you would listened to me and stayed away from her all this wouldn’t have happened. If you need anyone I could recommend my fellow actress for you, like Sunny, Candy and.”

“Are you done?” He interrupted her

“Huh?” She furrowed her eyebrows.

“I knew you are d’vil without a heart. Is that what you would say to someone that saved your a** huh?!”

Barbie scoffed.
“Saved who? She never saved me. It was you and Kelvin incase you’ve forgotten” she rolled her eyes.

“I see you are a fool Barbie. The very day I stopped you from going to that shoot, do you think I just called you and stopped you? I didn’t even know you were going on any shoot that day. Erica was the one who saved you. If you want to be thankful, be nice to her and stop behaving like a child!” He growled and shoved her aside.

Barbie couldn’t believe her ears. As her brother gently push her, she fell on the stairs and sat on it.

“How did I become like this? Why am I becoming so unlike me?” She murmured.

“I should.. I should probably check on her” she said and quickly ran to her room.

The doctor just finished examining Erica’s body again reporting the results to the nurse as she wrote it down.

Ava didn’t understand what they were saying but all she wanted was her friend.
“Doctor, how’s she?”

He shook head.
“There’s no improvement” he said.
Ava sighed and sat down as they both left the room.

After some seconds, the door flung wide open as Barbie rushed inside.
She went towards Erica and touched her hand.

Ava stood up in surprise. She wondered what she was doing here and why!

“Erica, please wake up” she shook her.
Ava folded her arms watching as she displayed.

“Hey pretender, don’t act like you care okay?!”

Barbie turned and shot Ava a hard glare.
“Do you think I’d waste my precious time to come here if I’m pretending to care? I don’t want to talk to you right now” she said and turned to face Erica again.

“Erica, I’m sorry. I tried to plan separate you from my brothers. Even if I hated you and treated you like trash, you still decide to save my life” she didn’t know when she started crying.

Ava sighed deeply. She needed to go home and make some meal for her incase she wakes up.
She turned and left the hospital.

Barbie sat beside her throughout the afternoon and dozed off.
The doctor woke her up. She raised her head and stared at him.

“Will she be fine?” She asked as she sprung up, making way for the doctor to check Erica again.

He touched her neck and her heartbeat.
“I want to be honest, she isn’t still responding to treatment”

“Did she have any internal injury or…”

“We’ve ran some tests, there’s no internal injury” he said.

“Okay” she said.

“Please, you need to let her have some rest. I hope if she gets that, she would improve by tomorrow” he said.

“Fine” Barbie said and left the hospital room.

She got back home after driving for some hours.
As she alight from her car walking towards the door, she saw her brothers walking out of the house.

“Are you going to see Erica?” She asked.

“Yes, why?” Calvin replied.

“Well… I’m going to see someone else” Kelvin said and walked towards his car.

“Well, I’m just coming from the hospital and the doctor said no one is allowed in till tomorrow. She needs to rest so that she can improve”

“Uh uh… I see you went to check on her, huh?”

“Yes, yes I did. I’m feeling bad for what I did and I’m sorry. Once she wakes up, I’ll make it up to her”

“This is the Barbie I know” Calvin said and went inside the house with her.

Kelvin heard that visiting hours was over for Erica but now was the only opportunity for him to see her.
He still entered into his car and zoomed off.

He got to the hospital after some hours and alight.
He walked straight to her room but the nurse saw him walking towards the VIP room.

“Excuse me…” She said and started running towards Kelvin.
He heard her but didn’t stop. She ran to him and stopped him.

“I’m sorry, no one can see Miss Erica Bruno now. Except you see the doctor”

“Take me to him” he replied, trying to act nice.

“Right this way sir”…

Kelvin was in the doctor’s office, they were staring at each other for a very long time.

“So… Today is the only day I’ve seen you in this hospital, Mr Kelvin”

“So?” He asked rudely with a smile on his face.

“What.. do you want master?” He asked.

“I want to see the patient in the VIP room” he said.

“She was moved to the executive lounge. Mr Calvin asked me to move her”

“I want to see her” he said again.

“She needs to rest and…”

“I said… I want to see her. Not talk or anything. I’m not a burden” Kelvin said with a little anger in his voice.

“Yes master” he said and led Kelvin to Erica’s room.

“Please, don’t stay to long Master. For her… Wellbeing” he said.

Kelvin turned to face him and nodded. He watched as he left the room for them.

He walked towards Erica’s bed and sat beside her.
He just stared at her as she laid quietly on the bed. He stretched his hands slowly and touched her hair.

“E.. Erica?” He called out softly.

Suddenly, a minute miracle happened.
Immediately Kelvin called her name, she moved her finger.
He sighted it and gasped.

He pushed the button by her bed, calling for the doctor. He rushed in thinking Erica was dying already.

“What happened?” He asked, bringing out his stethoscope.

“She.. she just moved her finger” he said.

“What? That’s impossible” he said and shoved Kelvin aside. He checked Erica and saw that she was improving already.
He turned and stared at Kelvin.

“You are a miracle in her life. She has improved” he said and called the nurse.

Kelvin didn’t know whether to laugh or not. He didn’t expect that.
The doctor pleaded with him to leave for some minutes.
He agreed and went outside. He paced around, waiting to get inside back.
After some minutes, the doctor and nurse walked out of the room.

“How’s she?”

“She’s better than before. You can see her now” he said and left.

Kelvin secretly rolled his eyes. He remembered moments ago when the doctor told him not to spend too much time, now he wants him to go in.

He smirked and walked into the room.
