Chapter 38

“Where are you?” He asked.

“Parent’s house” I answered wondering what prompted him to call me.

“Okay”. He said.

“Okay?”

“Just checking up on you”

Now, he is been weird.

“Oh”

“Yeah”

Fr tension is klling me.

“Hayden…u am sorry” I finally said.

He said nothing and I checked my phone to see if he had cut the call but he haven’t.

Or maybe he didn’t hear me?

“I am sorry” I decided to try again. This time around, he dropped the call.

Just great!

But at least he called, I tried to be optimistic. Maybe he misses me and regret every bringing up divorce.

“You wish” my sub conscious whispered to me.

Or he wants to know where I am so he can send the divorce letter for me to sign.
Yeah that’s it.

“There is absolutely nothing I can do” I said and laid on the bed and sleep took over me immediately.

NEXT MORNING.

I brushed my teeth in my old bathroom looking at the mirror. I rinsed my mouth once done and touched my hair playing with it.

My face looks pale and tired. I removed my gaze from the mirror and proceeded to take my bath.

After dressing up, I went downstairs and straight to the dining.
The maids looked at me curiously and I know there were already making up stories in their mind but I care less.

The dining was set thankfully, but my mom isn’t present.

I sat down and took the sandwich already served there and started eating slowly.

“Honey” I heard my mom’s voice behind me as she kssed my forehead.

I half smiled and continued my food.

She sat opposite me and stared at me.

“What? I am fine.” I said. “He called yesterday’s night tho the conversation was weird but at least he called and I really don’t want to talk about him right now” I rushed my words and my mom nodded understandably.

“So, I was wondering if you could go out with me. To get your mind off things. Been long we have hanged out and I really missed it” she poured out.

Sounds like a good idea tho.

“Okay” I said giving her a smile.

My mom started eating and I raised up my head to look at her.

She’s still the same. I was angry with her because of the sudden marriage news but now, I guess I am not anymore.

My mom was truly right when she told me I will get to love him.

“Stop thinking about him!” My sub conscious screamed at me and I nodded in agreement.

“This is so fun!!” I screamed as I rode the Ferris wheel with my mom.

She had taken me to the amusement park.

I remembered when I was in middle school and my dad took us to the amusement park.

We were one happy family. We literally do everything together. Go out every weekend and do lots of fun stuffs.

I was scared the first time I rode the Ferris wheel but later on, I got used to it.

I forgot about my problems and have fun. Like I always have, with the one woman that brought me into this world.

We grabbed ice cream after the ride and sat on a chair as we watched people moving around.

Couples, friends, family. They all look so happy. I spotted one taking pictures and glued to themselves the whole time.

I smiled and brought out my phone and took a selfie with my mom.

“Let me snap you” my mom said and I nodded and posed as my mom took pictures of me.

“You look so cute” my mom complimented looking at the pictures.

“So do you” I winked.

I uploaded the pictures on Instagram and Whattsapp and hash tagged it with “Fun day with my mom!*

People started commenting on them and guys entering my inbox but I had no interest to reply to any of them.

I was about putting away my phone when I saw a post from Ezra.

It has him and Tiana in it. She was grinning while Ezra hands were around her shoulder.

I looked at it wondering why I don’t feel jealous about it. Instead I entered Tiana’s inbox and asked.

To Tiana- you and Ezra look cute together. You two are together?

She replied as if expecting me to message her.

TIANA- nope. He’s just a friend.

I nodded not replying again. I didn’t tell her anything about Hayden and I and I don’t think I would. She have her own life to live not listen to my boring stories.

“You okay?” My mom asked that was when I became conscious of my environment.

“Yeah of course. I sense some chemistry between Ezra and Tiana” I said.

“Ezra…isn’t that the…”

“Guy I liked in high school. Yeah. But I don’t think I do anymore”

“You are fine with your best friend having something with him?” She asked.

“Yeah” I said. “I guess” I added gulping down nothing.

We did other fun things at the park and when I checked the time, it was almost night time.

“We should go home” I said.

My mom nodded and surprised me with a hug.

“Mom”

“I just realized how much I missed you and I am sorry if I ever hurt you in any way”

“Mom, it’s fine. I love you” I said hugging her back as a tear slipped off my eye.

We left the park and entered her car as she drove back home.

I was on my phone throughout the drive scrolling through the comments on my post from earlier.

I reacted and replied to some while I just read the rest smiling.

We got home and walked into the house. I just want to lie on the bed and sleep right now.

I was about climbing the stairs when we heard the doorbell.

“I would get it” I told my mom and she nodded and continued going upstairs.

I walked towards the door and opened the door only to be faced by the man who happens to be my husband.

“Hayden?”

He said nothing as he stared at me with an unreadable expression.

Without thinking, I grabbed his collar and crashed my lips on his.
