CHAPTER 2
Zane walked straight into his office after the one hour board meeting he just had, he loosened his tie and opened the first three buttons of his shirt exposing his broad chest and white neck
He heard a knock on the door of his office and it opened almost immediately, Cindy his secretary came in
“Sir, Mr. Evan has been calling and he insists on talking to you”
“Gimme the phone” Zane stretched his hand and Cindy placed a phone on his hands
“Uncle”
“Why haven’t you been picking up your phone?” That wasn’t his uncle’s voice, it was his mom’s
“I was busy”
“You’re always busy, anyway come home for dinner tomorrow night and make sure you’re there” his mom said and hung up the call
Cindy took the phone and walked out, Zane groaned and roughed his black hair.

“Daddy, daddy I’m home” Annalise announced, she struggled to the switch and turned the lights on, she kept the groceries she had on her hand on the table before going to the kitchen
“Anna?” She heard her dad call
“Daddy, see what I brought?”
Her dad, Smith smiled sadly
“Layla bought them” Annalise said again
“Wow, that’s so kind of her” Smith said
(I forgot to mention, Annalise isn’t from a rich home, they weren’t very poor either)
“Get dressed were going somewhere”
“Where?”
“The mall, we’re going for a visit tomorrow night for dinner at an old friend’s place”
“Where did the money come from?”
“Stop asking questions and let’s go”…

Smith took Annalise in his can he uses as a taxi to the nearby mall, Annalise jaw dropped in shock
“Dad, this is the most expensive mall in Los Angeles, why are we here?”
“To shop, I want to spoil my daughter today, is it a bad thing?”
“No, it’s just weird” Annalise smiled awkwardly, she sensed something was wrong but she didn’t know what
“Go any section of your choice and pick any thing you want, shirts, pants, skirts even undies”
“Dad” Annalise pushed her dad and walked away
“Hey, I’m your father and I saw everything when you were a baby” Smith said
“That was when I was a baby” Annalise mimicked before walking to the female section
Smith smiled as he stared at her retreating back, who knew his little Anna would grow so fast
His phone rang in his pocket, he searched for it and answered the call
“Hello”
“Where are you both?”
“We’re at the mall, she’s picking somethings up”
“Great make sure she has everything she’ll need”
“Sure, thank you” he said and hung up the call
He exhaled and stared ahead, his baby..
