A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 31 – The End

Chapter 38

Kayden was already fast asleep before we got to the house. We already had the kids’ room ready and some parts of the house.

It took a lot of effort to bath the kids and put them to sleep after waking them up.

Tristan was just leaving the bathroom only in his pyjamas pants when I entered.

“You finally did it.”
He said drying his hair with a grey towel.

Kayla was the only one that refused to go back to sleep, it took me a while to put her back to sleep.

Tristan didn’t have any problem with Kayden who slept off while he wore him his onesie.

I stretched as I walked to the bathroom. I took a long bath, Tristan was not in the room when I came out.

I wore my black sweater and plaid pyjamas shorts. I met him on the stairs on my way downstairs, he was holding two mugs with steam above them.

“I made you Green tea.”
He outstretched one mug to me.

I took it and sat on one of the steps on the stairs.

“Thanks,” I told him as he sat next to me.

There was a comforting silence between us as we sat there sipping our tea.

“I have a question,” I broke the silence.

“I’m listening.”

“Those cups I broke, why were you so attached to it?”
He laughed lightheartedly at my question first.

“It was my grandpa’s favourite cups. He wouldn’t drink from any other cup and he had a special place for the cups in the house,”
He laughed softly at the memories.

“Every time I went to spend Christmas with my grandparents when I was a kid in case you’re wondering.

It was fascinating to see how he treated those cups, even if I never knew why they were so special, I could tell it meant a lot to him.

After he died, I didn’t waste any time to take it, it reminded me of him anytime I look at it.

I just laugh at the memories from back then.”
He had a smile on his face as he ended his story.

“What about the paintings?”

“It was nothing, just paintings I collected from around the world.”

He said and took a sip from his tea.
“Hmmm.”
I hummed and took a sip of my tea too. I felt his eyes on me.

“Oh sorry, is this the part where I apologized for what I did?”
I asked acting confused.

He laughed and looked away while I smiled.

“I’m not asking for an apology, I just can’t believe you’re right next to me and we have our kids upstairs, it feels surreal. If it’s a dream, I wanna be stuck here forever.”

“Wow, did you read that from the internet cause it sounded soo cheesy.”

“Seriously? Do you always have to do that?”
He said and frowned, I laughed.

“I can’t believe it either, I thought I will never get Kayla back or my life taking a big turn.”
I said after the laughter between us died down.

“We’ll be the best parents to our kids, we’ll make it work this time I promise. No lies and no secrets.”
I nodded with a smile.

He leaned closer and gave me a quick peck. I captured his lips in mine before he could pull away. I dropped my mug somewhere on the stairs and moved closer taking control of the kss.

He pulled away and stared at my flushed face, he was breathing hoarsely.

“Don’t you think we should wait until our wedding night?”

“You sound like my mom right now,” I told him.

“And who says we are going pass kssing? I’m not on the pills and I don’t think you have any cd with you, do you?”

“You’re right, I don’t and I think we should stop if it’s too early for the twins to have another sibling.”

“Oh my God.”
I mumbled with a short laugh and hit him playfully. The self-control between us was thin right now and it was better to stop.

I pulled away and sat next to him and placed my head on his shoulder.

“You don’t talk about your Dad, why?”

“He is dead, he died a week after my sister was born.”

“Oh, sorry about that. Was he sick?”

“Yeah, diabetes.”

There was a brief silence between us before he spoke again.

“I have a question.”

“Ok, I’m listening.”
I said looking at him.

“Why didn’t you take a pregnancy test to prove to everyone I was lying? You had your chance.”

I laughed humorlessly at first before I replied.

“I wanted to, I badly wanted everyone to believe me but knowing my parents won’t take me back after knowing the truth, I decided I wanted to know your reason for doing all that and proving my innocence wasn’t really necessary because my parents didn’t only throw me out for your lies but also for what I did behind their back, I was a wayward.”

“No, you were cool,” he said smiling at me.

“I’m so sorry Cassie, I really wish we met in a different way.”

“Me too.”

“Tell me about your childhood.”
I said holding his arm.

“My pleasure.”
He smiled and stroked my hair.
