Deanna folded her fists tightly, heaving a deep sigh in fear

“I never expected her to return so soon” she thought loudly

Ryan came in immediately with Princeton, her eyes widened immediately

“What the h’ll was that..?!” He asked frankly

“What..” Deanna stammered like nothing was wrong

“I overheard your conversation with that lady!!” He raised his voice, advancing towards her

Deanna shivered on a spot as she flinched.. he looked so Frank and scary

“What happened eleven years ago” he demanded

“Ryan.. Ryan..” Deanna stuttered

“Answer me!!!!!”he yelled

He was darn serious

“Its about Dylan..” She replied quickly in fear, she had never seen him this way

“Now listen to me Deanna.., if anything happens to you, me or our kids, I’ll make sure I punish that so called Dylan you call a best friend” he pointed his fore finger at her, meanly..

“But Ryan…” She tried saying but he interrupted, harshly

“I won’t repeat myself again.. stay away from him and his affairs!!” He said and left immediately, ascending the stairs fast

Deanna rushed after him

“Ryan, it’s not something… I can explain Ryan..” She kept muttering all sorts hoping he would listen but as expected, he gave her no listening ear, instead, he slammed the door hard on her face, making her stagger backwards

“Don’t do this Ryan..”

Granny Teresa’s House..

“Who’s she..?” Claribel and Harold asked again in unison and Teresa heaved a deep sigh, placing her fingers on her on her forehead

She never wanted this to happen so soon.. now she has to reveal what she’s been keeping for years

“Its a long story okay..” she finally muttered and Claribel scoffed

“Make it brief granny..!” Harold snapped before she could even talk

“She’s your elder sister, your mother’s first daughter” She said and walked out the room

Claribel furrowed her brows in surprise and turned to her brother, their eyes met also..

They walked out of the room also, running after Teresa who gulped down the whole content in a glass cup on the dining table

“What do you mean by mother’s first daughter?” Claribel asked breathlessly and Teresa sighed again

“Your mum, Elsa, had a daughter for another man as a result of her premarital affairs.. the daughter is exactly two years older than you” Teresa begun and Claribel and Harold listened in keen interest

“You mean, the girl is my mother’s daughter and not my dad’s?” Harold asked with widened eyes and Teresa nodded slowly

Claribel heaved a deep breath

“And..?”

“Your father Greg, never liked the girl, he accused your mum of being a cheat and never for once cared for her daughter”

She continued

“The picture was the only picture we all had together, on my birthday” she said

Claribel shook her head in disbelief

“So I have an elder sister somewhere, why didn’t you tell me all this while!” Claribel yelled with glassy eyes.. Harold only said nothing and Teresa picked on her nails in guilt

Claribel suddenly realized something

“Ohh.. I understand, that’s why I keep having strange memories” She said in realisation, snapping her fingers

“Where’s she now?” Harold asked immediately and Claribel scrunched up her face in anticipation for her reply

“Your father threw her out in the rain one night, when she was eight, your mother was terribly sick then.. we couldn’t find her the next morning but found her clothes in the pool of bI.ood..” Teresa said slowly

Claribel’s eyes widened

“She was no where to be found.. and your mother made her investigations after she recovered, there was a big quarrel between her and your father when she confirmed that …she’s dead” Teresa said, muttering the two last words carefully

Harold and Claribel’s eyes widened madly

“She’s d.ead..?!!!”

Deanna’s Home

Deanna knocked repeatedly on the door but no reply came from him.. he was pissed

“Ryan, just give me the chance to explain.. I’m sorry” She winced, almost at the verge of tears.

She can’t regret this now.. she can’t stop now, not when things are becoming more serious

“I will not go back on my words Anna, you will have to choose between your family and your best friend’s family” he said frankly and Deanna sighed

“I made a promise Ryan and you know it, I promised Mariana and I can’t go back on my words.. she was my best friend, she was the only one who stood for me when I was disowned by my parents and we were both bullied in school.

She died like a chicken after being poisoned, we never had the chance to spend a lot of time together despite how close we are, Cuz no one wanted me around her!! but she chose me!.. and I promised to make sure her family is stable because of what she did to me..

I really can’t break the promise now Ryan, her husband and daughter are in danger now and you can’t expect me to care less about them!” She cried, hiccuping as she spoke non-stop

For the first time in minutes, he felt it… Guilt!
