Chapter 57

Writer’s POV:—- “A week Later”

“You can’t take what’s mine.” He yelled out frustratedly to her face.

“No. You can’t take what’s already mine!” She yelled back.
“I’m having the last piece. Not you”

“You already ate your share. Why
complicate things?” he added.

“Duh! That’s literally none of your business. I’m still having the last piece” she argued.

“We’ll see about that… Heady!”

“Don’t call me heady! I am not heady stupid!” She yelled.

“Stop calling me stupid, stupid.” He yelled back.

Both siblings in a heat of argument… Fighting over a piece of pancakes.

“Guys… What’s the noise all about?” The little girl walked into the sitting and met her siblings in a heat of argument.

“I’m having the last piece of pancake. Beat that!” She stocked her tongue out to him.

“We’ll see about that”

They continued throwing words at themselves. Ignoring their younger sister’s question.

“Uhm.. what pancake are you guys fighting over?” She arched. Cutting into their fight again.

” The last piece obviously in the kitchen..” the elder sister rolled her eyes.

“Oh. That? I’ve already eaten it”
She retorted. Licking her small fingers.

“You what??” They chorused. Running towards the kitchen just to find an empty frypan with the last piece gone.

Their baby sis ate it while they were busy fighting over it. Arrghhh!!!!

“Kayla!!!!!” They yelled her name to the roof top. Causing small giggles from her as she ran from their reach.

Yes. It’s the kids. David kids. And they are back. Back from vacation at Mark’s place.

They are obviously having a fuel over the pancakes Ana made for lunch that mid day… Which unfortunately for Noel and Janie, Kayla ate the last piece.

“Pray I don’t get you. I’ll force it out of your mouth” Janietta threatened as they chased her round the house.

“No. I’ll eat you in place of the pancakes instead.” Noel added.

“How could you???!!!”

They chased her round the sitting. Cycling the sofas with Kayla giggling in excitement.

When she saw how serious Janie and Noel looked and how her strength was slowly wearing off.. she ran to Ana’s room for help.

“Nanny Rosie help me. They are going to eat me”

“Who’s going to eat you?”
Ana who was busy with her phone, raised her brow tiredly at Kayla who ran into her arms for protection.

“Hey slow down pumpkin. Who’s after you and why—

The door opened as Janie and Noel walked in simultaneously.

“What’s going on guys? Why the long face??” Ana was forced to ask.

“Sh ate my pancakes” Noel explained.

“What do you mean your pancakes??” Janietta querried
“It was mine. Not yours. Kayla ate my pancakes” she added throwing Noel a hard glare.

In puzzlement, Ana stared down at Kayla who wrapped herself around her.

“Why did you touch Janietta’s pancakes?”

” I touched nobody’s pancakes Nanny Rosie” she innocently replied.

Rosiana returned her gaze to Noel and Janie who seem to be arguing indistinctly.

“You heard her. She didn’t eat any body’s pancakes” Ana spoke out.

“That’s a lie. She ate the last piece of pancakes in the pan . My pancakes! It was supposed to be mine. Not eaten by another…” Janietta protested bitterly.

“Yeah. You wish” Noel grudge.

He received a push on the shoulder from Janie who stared furiously at him.

“No fights please…” Ana returned her gaze to Kayla with another questioning look.

“Why did you eat the last piece of pancakes alone?”

“I was hungry” she pouted.

“But I served you your portion, I remember each of you had your portion didn’t I?” She face the trio.

“It wasn’t enough” they retorted. Rather sadly.

“Then you could have told me about it. I could make another one. Rather than fight over it”

At the sound of that, the kids exchanged glances.

“You mean you’d have prepared a new pancake enough for each one of us?” Kayla mouthed.

“Yes baby. That’s what I mean. You kids don’t have to fight over everything… Especially with food I made specially for you guys. Cause there’s more from where it came ” she assured with an enticing smile.

ROSIANA

Their eyes lit up instantly.
“So you’ll make more of it? I’m really craving for it so bad” Janietta imaginery licked her lips.

I nodded with a tired smile. I have an headache actually but I’ll overlook that. The kids really want pancakes.

“I’ll join you make them” Kayla said aloud.

“Me too” Noel and Janie seconded.

They didn’t wait for me to give my consent before running out of the room to the kitchen I guess.

Slowly, I followed behind.

Getting to the kitchen, Kayla handed me my apron as they wore theirs alongside with the chef caps too. I smiled at the look of that. They really look funny.

“You kids sure you wanna help in making this? I could bake enough alone while y’all wait in the sitting”
I stated.

I’d really love you make this Alone. I wouldn’t want anything carelessly done that’ll lead to a minor burn or whatever ..

Nevermind.

I waved off and reached for the flour and baking ingredients.

“Thank you so much Nanny Rosie”

I can’t count the number of times Kayla have thanked me.

I smiled instead as I arranged some pancakes on her plate.

“You are the best! Ever” Noel blew me a kss.

I cackled a little and waved it off, placing some pancakes Into his and Janie’s plate.

“Thank you for sparing time to make this wonderful pancakes again.

And also, thanks for teaching us how to prepare it too. Whenever we crave for it, we’ll make sure to do it ourselves… Rather than bother you”

Make for themselves? They can’t really handle the gas cooker, can they??

” that wouldn’t be necessary Janietta,.. I’ll always be avai—-

“We love you so much”

They cut into my words… Walking out of the kitchen simultaneously.

I shook my head And stared round at the messy kitchen. Slowly, I began to place the baking ingredients back where it’s supposed to be.

Though my head hurts, I decided to speed up with the work before I take any form of medication.

Just as I went about with the maintenance, my phone suddenly rang out.

I took it from where I had kept it and glanced at the ID. It’s an unknown number so I decided not to pick.

I placed it back on the cabinet and continued with what I was doing.

The call came again and again… I sighed out with much thoughts and picked up.

“Hello?”…

It came out from me but I was cut by a tensed and emergency voice.

My eyes became heavy all of a sudden as I swallowed a heavy lump down my dried throat.

“Whaaatttt????!!!!!” I covered my mouth from screaming loud. Panic written all over my face.

“Okay doctor. I’ll be right there” I hunged up

Hastenly, I pulled off the apron and dashed to my room.
