“Stop acting nervous okay. You look just like an angel”
I said to my best friend.
It’s her wedding today and she’s nervous to earth.
“Don’t lie to make me feel better. It’s not any easy for me”
She breath hard, feeling her sweaty head with her palm.
I could see the balls of sweat trickle down her neck as I fixed her her necklace.
“Stop being nervous sweetheart. You look like a chicken” I teased, using a kerchief to wipe her sweat.
“Now’s not the Time for teases. I think I’m gonna throw up while walking the aisle ”
” hey. Look at me”
I pulled her face to mine .
“You won’t do such. I know this kind of occasion comes with butterflies in the tummy but please. Don’t throw up or faint.
At Least for Oscar’s sake and that of your baby.
Or aren’t you excited about This? You’re getting married to the man of your dreams”
“Off course I am. It’s like a dream come true” she exhaled sharply.
“Good. Now knock off and odd feeling. Minutes from now, I’ll walk you down the aisle. Don’t fumble. You’ll get used to the environment once you Stand facing your heartrob”
I said, trying to cheer her up.
I’m walking her down the aisle, not her dad. Cause he’s late. After her dad’s death, her mom went M.I.A. no one heard of her or even saw her. From what I know, she was a drug addict.
Since her parents demise, she has been living with my family. She was actually a family friend from childhood. My family took her in at age fifteen.
I took her like a sister I never had. We are more than best friends and I don’t regret my relationship with her.
U think Oscar was truly meant for her. No doubt.
My phone suddenly beeped as a message popped in. It’s from David.

I laughed at the angry emoticon he used.
“Who’s that?”
“David. He’s here with his girlfriend. I invited them”
“You guys are now in talking terms?” She looked really surprised.
“Yeah. We are cool now. And back to being friends”
I haven’t mentioned to her how I followed in the rescue of Ana. That’ll be a gist after her wedding.
“Well, that’s good news. I’m happy for you guys. But you’re sure you no longer feel attracted to him? ”
She asked, after a small pause, I took a deep breathe. “No I don’t.”
I replied truthfully.
I really don’t.
“I’m gonna miss you so bad” she pouted.
“I’ll miss you too”
“Do you really have to leave? You could stay and continue your normal life. …”
I could sense pain and tears in her voice.
“No. Please. Too much memories here. I need a place to start afresh.
A good job, I could even find someone I’d fall in love with, and he’ll love me back, even more than I do.
Even though I’m pretty scared to fall head over heels with a guy now ” I exhaled in defeat.
Of a Truth, I really need a new beginning.
“What about me? What about my child?? It’s gonna need an aunt okay”
She said, tears trickling down her eyes.
“Sshush. You’ll be fine. I’m not running away . I’ll come back always to check on you and the baby. You won’t have to miss me too much. I’ll always be around. It’s a promise”
I said in assurance, picking her tear drops with my kerchief in other not to ruin her makeup.
“Let’s just focus on your beautiful day sweetheart. It’s all about you and Oscar today. We can have this conversation later.”
I smiled, cheering her up.
“Thanks. I love you Alicia” she wrapped her hands around me so tight.
“I love you too Nora. And you’ll always remain my best friend” I hugged her back.
The door suddenly opened. We both turned our faces to it’s direction.
“You can escort the bride out now, it’s Time” he announced and left.
“You heard him, let’s go Rock the aisle”
I giggled, putting the veil over her face.
She didn’t see it necessary since she was pregnant, but still, I wanted it that way.
“Let’s go. I’m ready” she took a deep breath and smiled brightly as She put her hand round my arm.
I handed her the flowers which was necessary.
Then, we Walked out.

I stole glances at Mr grumpy who sat before me. I had to hold myself from laughing so not to cause attention.
We are in a wedding ceremony. The one Alicia invited us to,.. which only just began.
“Smile , grumpy. You look like Junior’s wet diapers”
“What the ..??” He stared in disbelief at me.
” I am the most handsome man you’ll ever see okay. Grumpy or not.
I’m still hot” he brushed his hair with his fingers seductively with a flirty smile.
“You wish” I rolled my eyes.
“You can lie all you want. That’s what made you fall so deep for me..” he said with a whisper.

“The bride’s here . ”
I began to hear mumblings from the crowd as they got up simultaneously.
“The bride’s here David.” I announced happily to David as we both got up.
A solemn song was being played as we all watched Alicia walk down the bride to the altar.
They look really happy, the bride especially.
I could see her smiles radiating through the veil. She’s looking so beautiful..
I thought within as I watched her join her husband-to-be.
I wonder how she’s feeling now. It’s a great thing becoming one with the person you love so much.
I watched as they both exchanged vows, wishing it was me and David.
I pictured I and David all through and it bothered me.
Does he really have plans making me his wife?
He has never said anything about us building a home together.
He’s got four kids already and one on the way. His thought might be getting doesn’t need a wife anymore.
Go$h! I’m confused.
Seriously, I’m not supposed to be thinking about this. Today’s a special day for a lady like me.
I shouldn’t ruin it with a selfish thought.
I breath hard and blinked nervously. I should focus on this moment.
I clapped my hands alongside the others as the priest pronounced them man and wife.
“You may kiss the Bride”
The priest said.
And….. Of course you know what came after that.
I giggled tickishly as I watched them.
“We could be like them”
David whispered into my ears.
My heart fluttered.
Is it what I’m thinking? Does he mean like, man and wife?
“We could kiss right now. Just like them”
He added, stating clear his statement.
I sighed out disappointed. He actually meant something else. Not what I was thinking.
“Stop it. Naughty you” I laughed, pushing his shoulder.
“You think I can’t make the move?” He added, leaning his face closer to mine.
“People are watching okay. I know you can. But. They’ll see you as a pervert”
I quickly looked away from him.
He’s just so naughty….. and cute.
The wedding ended and we settled for the reception.
The groom and the bride settled and gave a toast.
Others gave sweet speeches and blessings to the couple.
It went pretty well.
“Hey babe. I’ll be right back” David said all of a sudden. Getting up.
“Where to?” I asked.
“I want to borrow him for a short while. He’ll be back before you miss him” Alicia replied with a smile.
I didn’t even notice she was standing behind me.
“Bu…
Too late, they already left.
Seriously??
I scoffed in disbelief as I watched the two walk out. They seem like they were arguing about something.
I watched Alicia hand something to David and he smiled at her.

I just turned my eyes away from them with a snort.
They really have some nerves.
‘ you’re acting like a jealous kitten’
My subconscious said to me.
“Duh! I’m not jealous. ”
I defended, like I was talking to someone.
‘well maybe I’m really jealous. You saw the way he walked out on me. ? He shouldn’t have done that. Didn’t he know he’d hurt my feelings?? He left with a lady who…
“And I’ll like to give a toast to the newly wedded couple”
That voice, isn’t that David??
What is he doing?? I gulped hard at the sight of him standing before the number of people giving a speech.
This is a blind toast! He doesn’t even know the newly Weds.
“I may not know much about the newly Weds but…”
Yeah you literally don’t know anything about them.
I rolled my eyes at him.
I’m still mad at him for leaving me here all by myself. He never even told me he was gonna make a toast.. Geez?
“I pray for blessings and love forever in your lives”
Ha gave a toothy grin as a round of applause came.

Oh he better be done! I’m eating him raw when he returns here.

I felt a hand on my shoulder, and that familiar scent.
“Alicia??” I stared at her.
“I think he’s talking about you” she added.
I yelped. Turning back to David.
“Since she came into my life, I swear I’ve never been a better man. My life has never been this better.
She’s the perfect woman anyone could ever wish for.
That’s, aside the bride of today. She too is special in her own way to her new husband.”
At the sound of that, I and the guest Burst Into a small laugh.
My cheeks heated up in tomato red. I was blushing so bad.
“… Thank God for today, that despite the storms and obstacles, she s still with me.
She’s here, looking ever beautiful as always. The most beautiful woman I’ve ever known..”
“Awwwwwn” came from the guest.
“..and also excluding the bride who’s beautiful in her own way to her husband. ( A small laugh was heard from the guest)
sorry, I don’t mean to steal your moment. But I got to do this. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do”
“He’s coming here” Alicia nudged me.
“What? No no. No”
My heart began to race.
He’s really coming here. My feels started aching.

“Rosiana,… My love”
He stopped before me.
“David, ” my lips parted. A bit shaky.
He bent half knee and dipped his hand into his side pocket.
I stared at him confused.
Is it what I’m thinking???
“Rosiana,..”
He. Took my hand, caressing it. His voice making echoes in the hall which has become pin-silent .
“Ana.. make me the happiest man today, make my dreams come through. Today, help complete my life by becoming. Romero. A part of me.

I didn’t know when my eyes got wet all of a sudden. I was crying… I was actually crying…! Tears of joy.
This is happening. He is really doing this…
“Marry me Rosiana. Marry me and make me the happiest man on this planet”
He finally said it! The words I’ve been craving for.
I stared tearfully at Alicia who gave me a big smile.
“You planned This too right”
I mouthed low to her hearing and she nodded.
I turned my gaze back to David.
” yes. Yes I will marry you”
The hall filled with cheers and merriment as everyone got up to clap.
David placed the ring on my third finger and pulled me into a kiss.
“I love you” he said.
“I love you too. Gosh! I love you so much”
I confessed. Getting up to my feet as we both hugged. Passionately.

“Happy engagement, next is wedding bells”
“You guys look so perfect”
“Congratulations couple”
Congratulations, congratulations, that was all I kept hearing from every corner.
The ceremony just ended. And words can’t really describe how I feel.
” if not my newly engaged!!” Alicia shrieked the moment she saw us together at the wine Cellar.
U blushed at the sound of that. I am so so happy.
“Thank you so much Alicia”
I thanked her with smiles.
“I’m full with suprises I know. Even if David refuses to compliment me on that” she eyed him.
David scoffed and waved her off.
“But seriously guys, I’m happy for you two. So how are the kids. Hope they don’t give too much troubles. Remembering what they did to me the last time”
“That are fine. My mom’s with them at the moment and trust me, they are in good shape”
I said with all smiles. Assuring her of their good conduct.
Suddenly, my phone rang.
“Excuse me.”
I brought it out from my purse.
“It’s mom” I said to David.
? Hey Mom. We’ll be home soon. The party just ended.
? Gracious Lord. I’ve been trying to reach David.
? Why? Any problem.
? It’s the children n they’re gonna bring down the house with fire.
? What? Why..? How?? Who’s playing with fire?
David::- fire?? Who’s playing with fire?
David asked. A bit confused at the conversation with my mom.
? Well they insisted they could cook. They actually said you thought them how to cook. Now everything is messed up in the kitchen.
? Mom. Why did you let them into the kitchen? Where’s junior?
? Sweetheart I couldn’t control them. That’s why I’ve been trying to reach David. Junior is soaked in flour after this call I’ll go clean him up.
Neo… Noel or whatever he calls himself, he’s just so stubborn.
( I could sense frustration in her voice. Go$h!! )
David:– Babe, what’s going on? Let me have the phone.
He requested. And I handed it to him.
? Who’s playing with fire?
? Your kids David. Your kids. They are making lunch for themselves.
? Please give any of them the phone.
? In a minute.
( Seconds later)
? Hello Daddy.. ( Noel greeted)
? Noel what’s going on ? Where’s Janietta?? Who’s playing with fire?
? Nobody dad. We are just trying to make a peaceful lunch. ( He replied innocently)
? What? Why?? Can any of you handle a gas cooker?? Isn’t there food in the fridge, you can tell Mommy Rosiana to heat it up for you guys…
? Dad. No worries. We know what we want. We can handle a gas cooker. Dad Everything is okay. There’s no fire damage. Except for your shirt which got burnt by mistake.
? My shirt? What the fuc— what the heck happened??
? I wanted to take the pot from the gas so I used your shirt,.. Don’t Panic dad it’s only a small burn. It can still be fixed.

( David’s eyes were smoky-red now)
? Dad!! It’s nothing. Everything is under control.
( Noel come clean up this mess!!! Kayla and Junior are playing with the flour!! )
? Isn’t that Janietta’s voice? What is Kayla and Junior doing in the kitchen…. Jesus Christ!
? Bye Dad. We love you”

(Noel hunged up)
“These kids are gonna commit homiscide . Your mom can’t control them, they are frustrating the poor woman. We gotta go” David said.
Giving me back the phone.
“We better hurry then”
“Okay Bye guys” Alicia waved.
I and David quickly hurried out of the hall.
To us, this is an emergency.
The look on David’s face right now is the same look at the day we first met. The very first day we met.
His kids are never tired of frustrating him.
But luckily he’s got me now
I can control them way more than he can.
Go$h! It was so cool getting to know them and their SINGLE DAD ?
