Chapter 67
“How would you know she’s there?”
Alicia asked. Staring at the photos David showed to her about a place description.
“I am certain. So do you have any idea?” David asked.
“Yes. At Least if I’m not mistaken, this place is pretty familiar to a place I know.”
“Which is ?”
“Florida. Castle lore precisely”
“You sure about that?”
‘” yes I’m certain” she nodded to his question.
“Thanks” David said in appreciation.
“So, how sure are you that she’s there?”
“A hundred percent. She sent these photos herself to me with her abductors phone.”
“She called you?”
“Yes. She did. She was in distress and couldn’t give a perfect description of the place so I told her to send pictures instead. Which she did”
“And if I may ask, who’s the person behind all this cause this sht’s really confusing. Why would anyone kidnap her?”
“His name is Mike. And when I lay my hands on him , he’ll regret the day he set his eyes on Ana” David threatened. Obviously worried and angry.
“Hmm. Mike. That name sounds pretty familiar though” she asked. Trying to figure where she heard the name before.
“Nevermind.” She waved off and then continued.
“So when do you intend to invade there and rescue your Cinderella, Superman?”
“Before Dawn”. He answered.
“Oh. Wow. Good idea then. He won’t even know what hit him. And for your information, I’m coming with you”
David raised his brow like it was a “not-so-good” idea.
“You don’t need to object cause my mind’s made up already. I’m going to Florida with you. ” She emphasized, adamantly.
“No, please Alicia I really don’t want to endanger you or..
“Says my babysitter” she rolled her eyes ethusiastically. “If you refuse me this, I’ll sue you for false accusations and locking up once you return. And I’m dead serious.”
“Okay. Fine. You can come along” he shrugged. Letting her do her wish.
“Good.” She smiled.
“You know David, I still miss those days I was so obsessed with you.
Like if I remember the crazy things I did, I can’t help but laugh”
“Really?” David chuckled slightly. Taking a seat beside her.
“You mean you have no mite of feeling left anymore as we speak”.
“None. I grew past that already” she nodded.
“Great. I’m glad you’re now neutral with me. We can go back to being friends right?”
He asked, to know if it was okay with her.
“Sure. Why not” she cracked a small laugh.
“Best of friends. I really don’t mind” she added.
“I’m happy” David gave out a toothy grin ..
“So, back to when you were still crazy about me, how was it? Like how did you feel?”
” no . No. No I don’t wanna talk about it” she laughed hard.
“No. Please I wanna hear you say it. For fun and nothing else. Please”
“No. David”
“Lol. But Why?”
“That’s because it’s embarrassing. I have a flashback and I laugh at myself for being really stupid” she rolled out.
“Don’t laugh alone. Let’s both laugh together” David gushed out causing Alicia who hit his shoulder hard but playfully with another laugh from her.
“Ouch!. Did I deserve that?”
” that wasn’t nice. So you deserve it” she retorted nonchalantly picking her fingers.
“But, I still wanna hear everything”
“Okay. Fine. I’ll tell you then” she finally said. Sucking in a deep breath.
David posed in a listening way, making him look really funny.
“When I was so obsessed with you, I felt you were the only one in my own world and that if I didn’t have you to myself, I might die any minute so…
Just then, David’s phone rang out.
“Excuse me” he cut into what Alicia was saying. ”I ll be quick with this” he. Added.
Alicia gave a light nod as he picked up.
? Hello Doctor….? (He called)
? Yes Mr David. We have good news…
( He could sense a smile from the doctor via the call)
? Okay. Is it about Ana’s mom?
?Yes Mr David. She’s awake.
? Gracious Mercy! She’s awake? I knew I could count on you Dr Richard.
? All thanks to God.
I actually contacted a fellow surgeon doctor who in his own unique way sucked out the substance from her system.
So I can boldly say to you that she’s soundly awake and responding to treatment
? I really appreciate this great news doctor! I really do. Thanks so much.
? As from tomorrow, you can come pay a visit with Ana. She’ll be really glad to see you two. Besides, since she regained conscious she’s been asking of her daughter.
I didn’t see it as a great idea to call Ana over considering it’s late already. So I told her once it’s morning, her daughter will be here.
So please Mr David, do well and pass the information to her. She’ll be very happy about her mother’s recovery.
(After the doctor made his statement, David’s face dropped immediately., Rosiana)
? Bet she will. I’ll do as you’ve said. Goodnight from here.
? Sleep well Mr David
?I will sir, definitely.

David breath hard and hunged up.
“No need asking for explanations, I virtually heard the call. The only thing to worry about now is Ana. We don’t wanna give that poor woman a heart attack”
“No. We can’t afford that. Not again. Tomorrow, she’ll see her daughter first thing in the morning. I assure that”
David finalized, dropping his phone.
“Won’t you go home to your kids? It’s pretty late. You don’t want to sleep in the station do you?”
“I do. My kids are fine with a friend, Mark. Besides I’m not going to Florida Alone. The police will accompany as a backup up.
If we’re fast enough, it’ll be a two hours drive. We’ll be on a low key, so Mike won’t notice anything till he gets busted”.
“Mike Mike Mike. Now I know where I heard that name from. The fellow is a doctor friend to Rosiana.
We met few times on coincidence at your place when I came visiting. Though he always never gets to see Ana, he’s just outside waiting fruitlessly.
It was on a Sunday we first met. Both of us stranded outside.
And that’s how I got to know his name,”
She explained. Memories of Mike coming afresh in her memory.
“Good. Now continue from where you stopped earlier. I wanna hear more of your love confession”
David teased. Beckoning to listen more.

Mike gazed restlessly in his room. Pills of painkillers littered on the floor. He’s been feeding on overdose lately and it’s really eating up his sanity.
He takes pills whenever he wants to clear his head, especially on Rosiana, he ends up taking overdose cause it’s pretty hard to think clearly without her in his head.
Since the previous night after Ana ran to her room, he hasn’t slept, he’s been awake feeding on Overdose as Rosiana’s words came hitting him hard.
But aside that, he’s been bothered about something. A disturbing feeling which has made him pretty restless.
Yesterday Morning, he met Ana coming out of his room. He’s certain she made use of the phone. The phone he kept on his bed before going out.
What if she contacted someone with it? Or David?
He knows she touched the phone. There’s no better explanation to why he felt his phone warm.
To him, this place isn’t safe anymore.
They have to be on the move.
Quickly, he grabbed a few of his things, walked out of his room and headed to Ana’s door.
He pulled the door’s knob and discovered it was still locked. She still hasn’t opened up.
He breathe low and gently tapped in the door.
“Ana …”
