Chapter 44
“Hel–hello? Hello?! Don’t you dare do anything $tupid to my son, you beast!! Hey!!! Did that bstard just cut the call on my ears? I’m finished, my son…” She rushed inside and grabbed her car keys frantically to leave.
“Ma’am, is there a problem?” Flying dragon asked, concerned.
“No… it’s nothing. Go inside and get someone to talk to the nurse taking care of Xena to check up on your boss. I have to go now!” She turned and left him moping around confusedly.
“I hope it’s not what I’m thinking?” He murmured, shrugged and went inside. He has to take care of his boss first before anything else.
Mrs. Smith ran into her car and drove off with a tyre screeching speed. Whoever the caller was, he or she meant harm to her son, and she must save him at all cost. Justin is her only hope after all the pains she had faced in the past because of Mr. Smith.
She can’t let anything happen to him no matter what. She sent a group text to the assassins for cover. But she warned them to be careful because no one must detect that she has backup.
She was almost getting to the army base when another car blocked hers and shot at her windshield. The glass shattered as she matched the accelerator with all her might and the car halted, her head bumped on the steering wheel.
“Get her in here now!” She heard a voice command.
She was still in a confused state when a hand gripped her arm and dragged her out of her car. Another hand helped carry her to another car. She felt dizzy and fought not to lose consciousness, but she didn’t know what happened after they tied her hands up.
When she woke up again, Justin and Alex were tied up in front of her. Her head buzzed from what happened earlier… She tried to say something, and found out her mouth was sealed with tape.
“Mom, are you okay? Why did you have to come here?!” Justin asked worriedly.
“Boss, why did you listen to this man and came here? He only wants to use us and lure you and Mr. Smith here. He said it himself!” Alex was sad, worried and furious at the outcome of things.
A man in army uniform came inside the room they were in and cleared his throat to get their attention. “Woah! What a surprise! Who do we have here?” He mocked.
Mrs Smith was shocked to see her spy. She has two spies in the army base, but they were there as office attendants. How come this one is all dressed up?
“You are surprised right? Don’t force it, you can’t talk now. Don’t worry, you will get more surprises soon!” He laughed.
“The boss and his wife are coming here soon! Someone keep watch at the gates, these people might have something up their sleeves.”

Sophia looked down at her hands which she kept twisting nervously on her laps and fought back her tears. How did she get into this mess?
Why is life so cruel to her?! She keeps moving from one problem to another! Is there ever going to be an end to her sufferings? Why can’t death knock on her door? She would gladly open and welcome it with wide arms.
“Honey, why are you so gloomy? We are going to play with our enemies today, you should be happy! Isn’t this what you have always wanted? I mean, revenge for your parents d.eath, huh?!!” West took her hands and squeezed tightly.
“I’m okay, I just…”
“Hey, come off it. I know you still have feelings for that guy, but remember that his father is the one behind your parents’ downfall and mysterious d.eath. He is the worst enemy, the fact that he has amnesia doesn’t mean you too have to forget what he did to you. I’m offering you this opportunity to get even with them on a platter of gold, shouldn’t you be thankful?”
Sophy didn’t know any reply to those words. She’s afraid… This guy is slowly showing her who he truly is and there’s no going back now. As the car pulled up in the base’s parking lot, her mind travelled back to an hour ago.

FLASHBACK.
“West, I think you are going overboard with this. How could you kll Celina just like that? And you had to let me watch you do it and…”
West turned angrily, grabbed her arms and jerked her against his car’s bonnet. “What the fûck are you insinuating? Do you think you have a right to lecture me? I have just been keeping my cool, don’t push me, Sophia Williams. Whatever makes you think I would love someone like you, a beautiful po.rnstar,” he snorted.
Tears rolled down Sophia’s eyes. She got it then that he was only using her and there’s no getting away from the mess. “You are hurting me,” she begged him to let her go.
He freed her and grinned fauxly. “Oh yeah, a gentleman shouldn’t hurt his wife. Get this into your head, the papers you signed thinking they are marriage certificates are contract deals that you now belong to me and you dance to my tunes. If I find out that you are acting funny, I won’t hesitate to boom!”
“What?!” Sophia was shocked. “West, I know you are angry with me for… trying to tell you that you were wrong, but you shouldn’t just start talking nonsense”
“She says I’m talking nonsense. Sweetheart, I didn’t know you would be so dumb to know what’s happening around you or are you being ignorant. Anyway, I hope you remain dumb because I hate it when someone gets on my way. You are my toy, I choose what happens to you, so better keep pretending to be my wife to avoid getting in trouble. I’m also helping you in return, am I not? Go get ready, we leave in fifty minutes!”
Sophia watched him leave and knew he’s being serious. She’s stuck for real. Why is she always the one in trouble? She half ran inside to get ready and think about a way out… there must be a way out. She will talk to her parents privately and they’ll give her a solution, they always did.

“Are you going to sit there forever?” West shouted, his voice snapped her out of her oneirism.
Sophia jumped and apologized as she came down from the car and followed him. When they got into the room Justin, Alex and Mrs. Smith were locked in, her eyes filled again with tears because she now knows half of what West would do to them.
The look on Justin’s face when he saw her again melted her heart. To h’ll with revenge! It’s her fate to simply suffer and be stepped upon for the rest of her life.
When her eyes met Mrs. Smith’s, she almost cried out. Mrs. Smith looked like she wanted to say something, but her mouth was covered.
Weston drew her into his arms and forced his lips on hers. “Everyone, this is my lovely wedded wife, Sophia Williams. We are happily married and ready to destroy our enemies!”
Sophia couldn’t look at Justin’s face for fear that he would see her tears. She had to pretend that she’s actually happily married until this becomes over and she would end her useless life herself.
“I’m not pleased with you guys,” he pointed at the soldiers. “This family is incomplete. I would have loved to see them watch each other die, nothing hurts more than that, so I will just play with them today and wait for the father to come tomorrow.” He laughed and went to Justin.
“My sweet wife is really a magnet to get this family together,” He took a lighter out of his pocket and showed it to him. “You love my wife, don’t you? They say that truth saves, so I guess you know it is only right to say the truth.”
“What have you done to her?! I know she can’t just accept marrying you because she loves me, tell me!!” Justin spat at his face.
West touched the corner of his nose where the spit landed, and growled. “You see why I hate human beings? I only asked him a friendly question and he’s doing this?! You just spoiled my mood, fool!!” He snapped the lighter to life and put it on his left hand.
Justin screamed in pain and struggled to free himself, it was a waste of time because he was tied to an iron pole with Alex.
“Let him go! You can go ahead and do it to me!!” Alex cried.
Mrs. Smith could only shed tears as she watched her son being punished for her mistake. If she had listened to him and let Sophia be, all of this wouldn’t be happening.
Sophia clutched her heart and suppressed her tears. She is in trouble because her heart ached for him and she can’t bear to watch him get hurt.
“Ah! I think I know what to do with you!!” West laughed, and put the lighter away. “Guys, my wife and I are going to be really entertained today. Honey, let’s sit down and go with the usual plan, my men have to do their job!” He went to Sophia and took her to a chair.
“Justin, are you okay? I hope you didn’t get burnt deeply?” Alex asked worriedly.
“Sophia… Sophia… I’m sorry. It’s all my fault” Justin grinded his teeth as the memories flew back to him. He heard her voice begging him to stop, telling him how much she hates him for doing that to her. “No!!!” He screamed and went quite immediately.
Sophia shook her head and shoved West’s hand away. She ran to the one person that made her heart race. “Justin, wake up, please!!” She cried out and let the tears wet her face.
“This is going to be interesting!” West goes to her and pulls her by the hair. “You are mine now!!”
“Let go of me, you are hurting me!” She tried to free herself.
“Let you go? Do you know why I hate you? I guess you don’t, it’s because I know you will never notice me! At first, I was going to forget about your past and we will start afresh, but I noticed there’s only this thing in your heart and head! I almost foolishly got a real marriage certificate, I’m so pathetic, right?” He jerked her against his chest.
“West, why are you doing this to me?! You deceived me while you are the enemy. I almost wished I could erase him from my heart because of you, I always end up getting hurt in the end. I’m tired of living like this, please, kll me and let them go!” She cried.
He pushed her to the floor and squatted down beside her. “You want to know, right? It’s because my family lived their lives saving this country! They offered everything they laboured for to the society. Do you know what they got in return? Do you?!”
She shook her head, surprised at the sorrowful look in his eyes. He looked pitiful, not pathetic. He must’ve been hurt deeply for someone as strong as him to be in that mood, but he has to stop already.
“Look at her…” he pointed at Mrs. Smith. “That woman trained the a$sassins that were hired by the enemies to kll my father! That wasn’t all, her so-called ex-husband was the one that hired them and my mother has been in the hospital battling stroke because of it! Why should I remain good to people after that?!!”
Sophia’s head fell. They are on the same boat. He’s lucky he still has battalion of soldiers who are still submissive to him, his wealth is still there and his mother is fighting to live. What about her? Even her dignity is gone and that’s why she hates herself for loving Justin.
“You never told me about this. West, revenge is sweet, but it also has its consequences. If you hurt them, you will be no different from them, I think you should…”
“I know why you are saying that, Sophia. It’s because of him, if he doesn’t get out of the way, you will never see clearly. I think everything has to end here, now!” He stood up and one of the soldiers threw a pistol at him.
Sophia stood up immediately and ran to hold him. He shoved her aside as he went to Mrs. Smith and removed the tape from her mouth.
She winced in pain. “I never knew he was the one that hired some of my assasins, not even once did I think about the anonymous purchaser. I only wanted an organization that will fight for the people, not even for me or for them. It’s really my fault that he used me without my knowledge, I always wondered how he knew the secret camp so well, now I know. Please, let everyone else go, I have to take responsibility for my actions.” The words rushed out of her mouth.
“Wow, what a wonderful speech! You are such a good mother. No, you can’t d!e just like that, the death of our loved ones klls us more, I can relate. So I’m going to kll the two of them first so that you will know how it feels before I send you over there too to be with them. Isn’t that going to be a lot of fun?!” He said sarcastically.
“Please, don’t!” Mrs. Smith and Sophia shouted chorusly when he pointed the gun at Justin who was unconscious.
Alex closed his eyes and waited for his turn. The end has finally come, he knew it would come one day, only he didn’t know it would come this early to him.
