Chapter Sixteen
GRACE POV
“Grace….Grace”.I heard my name from my deep sleep. I stirred a bit but stubbornly refused to wake up.
“Come on Grace, wake up!”.I knew the voice to be that of Dave but still I wanted to enjoy my sleep, I didn’t want to be disturbed.
“Leave me alone”.I mumbled, breathing out a little as I comfy myself on my bed. I could feel him close to me as he sat on my bed.
“Gish! You leave me no choice”.He groaned and soon afterwards, I felt him leaving my bed.
I smiled still with my eyes closed as I wandered off to dreamland.

“Ahh!….You devil!”.I screamed as I threw away my blanket angrily.
My hair and face was wet due to the water poured on me by no one other than Dave.
I could see him standing by my door laughing mockingly.
“Ouch! Am sorry but it isn’t my fault, I tried to wake you up but you refused, I then guess you needed some assistance”.He continued laughing making me feel embarrassed.
“Devil”.I said as I threw a pillow at him expecting it to hit him right on the face but disappointedly, the pillow fell flat on the floor before it even got to him.
“Ha”.He bursted into laughter and I blushed, hastily wearing my slipper pretending like if I wanted to chase him but he was quick to escape.
“Jeez! So annoying!”.I scoffed as I walked to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and afterwards, combed my wet messy hair.
I then went downstairs knowing fully well that the annoying pest known as my brother was sent to call me for breakfast but guess what, he left without informing me.
Exactly as I thought, my family was already eating breakfast with Mr Liam and Miss Sandra.
“Good morning everyone”.I greeted as I sat on my favorite seat which was of course next to Dave’s.
“Good morning too, Grace”.They chorused and I smiled, my eyes racing to mum’s baby bump which was getting bigger and bigger.
Oh wow!

I sighed heavily as I dressed in a pale yellow top and jean pant after some minutes of being confused on which clothes to put on.
I felt sad and afraid cause it was now 12pm, the time I would visit Dylan’s house.
I still don’t know what to do because I can’t refuse meeting him, it would affect not only my grade but his too.
Like seriously, why do I have to be the unfortunate student who got paired with Dylan – the dangerous guy?
I scoffed, grabbing the bucket filled with the material needed for the project. I also took the sheet of paper handed to me by Mr Kelvin before I exited my room.
“You’re leaving now?”.Dave asked as he chewed popcorn from a bowl of popcorns which was resting close to him on the sofa he sat on.
I was in the living room now…
“Yeah, I don’t want to be late”.I bit on my bottom lip trying to suppress the fear building up in me.
I had told everybody about the project during breakfast, so that was how he knew about it tho he did try to persuade me not to go.
“You got to be careful, Grace”.He frowned silently. “Have heard so much about your partner, Dylan”.
There was a huge emphasis he made on the word ‘Dylan’ which made me swallow hard.
“I don’t understand”.I said sighing. “What have you heard about him?”.
Though, a part of me knew the answer to my own question but I just want to ask, to be sure.
“So much Grace, so much to make me hate him but one thing am so sure of is that am not afraid of him. Vanessa told me what he did, she told me he chopped off the fingers of a….”.
“Okay…Okay. I know what he did, I heard also but please don’t remind me. It sounds scary”.I said feeling my heart jump.
“Yeah, it surely does. I pity the victim of his madness, she must have….”.
“Please Dave, I have to go now. I better leave rather than hear you talk about that, as I said, it sounds scary”.I shivered slightly and began walking away.
“Expect my call, Grace”.He yelled a bit since I wasn’t so far from him. “I have to make sure you’re fine there”.
I ignored him and walked out of the house and expectedly, I met the driver, Mr Lucas leaning on the car door.
I had called him some minutes ago to come pick me up.
“Good afternoon sir”.I greeted politely as I got closer to him.
“Oh! Hi Grace. You called. Where am I taking you to?”.He asked with a small smile on his lips.
I tried to remember the location Dylan told me about and thanks fully, I remembered.
“Um…Block 17, Beaut road”.I said but his smile slowly faded away.
“Beaut road? That’s a very deserted road, what are you going to do there?”.He asked and I glanced at him confused.
‘Deserted road? That means no one lives there?’.I thought confusedly.
“Uh, actually my classmate lives there and we are paired together at school to carry out an experiment”.I said and he nodded slowly.
“Okay then. Hop in! We sure have a lot of distance to cover”.He said and got into the car while I did same.
