RACHEL’S pov.
“My heartbeat, aren’t we gonna cuddle after that love making?” he asked.
I glared at him as I tried to steady my breath, I pushed my hair back since they’re getting in my view and held my waist.
“That wasn’t love making, Duncan”
“Then what do you call that hot and passionate moment we just shared?”
“A fling” I replied.
His eyebrows furrowed at my reply, he blinked a few times and broke into a smile.
“That’s not a fling, you’re my wife and we just… ”
“We just had sx because I was sx-starved!” I completed his words. “Isn’t that what people call flings?”
He stared at me, gulping speechlessly.
“My heartbeat, please, don’t call our love making a fling, it hurts ok?”
“It hurts?” I chuckled dryly. “Then think about all the hurts I’ve been feeling all these years, it’s not easy right?” I sighed. “Please, sign those divorce papers”
“I won’t sign any papers, you’re mine, and mine forever!” his eyes moved towards my stomach and he smirked. “You’re soon gonna have my kid too, let’s see how you’re gonna leave me then!”
I looked down at my stomach too, then squeezed it as if it’ll get rid of his seeds.
“Don’t think you can hold me down with your kid, I have after pills” I said confidently.
His smirk grew bigger instead getting wiped up, he leaned back on the headboard and sighed.
“I’m sorry to report, my heartbeat, I’ve gotten rid of every drug in your medicine cabinet” he said.
“What?!”
“Yeah, you’re gonna be the mother of all my kids and there’s no escaping from it”
I narrowed my eyes as anger shot through my veins, but an idea suddenly popped up in my head and I smirked.
“Well, then, I will get an abortion and leave you even though you refuse to sign the papers, and go somewhere very faraway from here”
“You wouldn’t dare hurt my child or even think of leaving me, I know you and I know you’re not that heartless”
I shook my head.
“Six years is long enough for someone to change their personalities, Duncan”
He stayed silent for a while, then cleared his throat.
“I didn’t mean to neglect you, it’s just….” he trailed off.
“It’s just what?”
He stared in my eyes, then shook his head meaning he can’t say it. I gulped to swallow whatever emotion that’s threatening to creep up.
“Let’s divorce please, since you don’t trust me with your secrets”
“No, no, please, no divorce” he said with a hint of desperation.
I scoffed loudly and laughed shortly.
“I’m a f.ool, I’ve been a big fo.ol and I was too blinded by love to see how much of a f.ool I was”
“My heartbeat, what are you talking about?”
I shook my head.
“I don’t know my husband, I don’t know who my mother-in-law and father-in-law are, weither they’re d.ead or alive, I don’t know why you came to the orphanage in first place” I paused and pulled my hair. “Come to think of it, you’ve never trusted me right from the start and yet I entrusted myself to you, doesn’t that make me the biggest fool ever?”
He shook his head and made to come to me, but I held up my hand and stopped him.
“You’re not a fool, my heartbeat, it’s just..just too complicated and I don’t wanna get you involved in my messy life….”
“But that’s just your thought, I wanna get involved, ok?” I interrupted him. “I wanna know what’s been eating you up and keeping you away from coming home all these years”
“Listen to me…”
“I don’t wanna listen, we’re husband and wife and we’re supposed to share each other’s burden”
“My heartbeat, the lesser you know, the safer you’ll be….”
“Enough of that ‘the lesser you know, the safer you’ll be’ sht!” I snapped at him. “If you know you’re not ready to let me in your life completely, then sign the divorce papers and set me free!” with that I dashed into the bathroom, slamming the door shut in a loud bang and fell on my knees as I let loose and burst into tears.
