Chapter 80

An unnamed organization, California

A man stood by the window, he puffed out some smoke from his cigarette, and smirked as he watched pedestrians walking down the road.

“Sir?”

He turned around at once, and saw his assistant standing near his table.

“Good news, Carlos?” he asked as he walked back to his big office chair.

“Yes, sir” Carlos replied. “Our spy just reported back that Duncan’s men are taking Asher back to LA with them”

The man’s smirk widened as he nodded in satisfaction.

“Sir, are we really gonna let him kll Asher?” Carlos asked.

“Of course” he reached for a pen on the table. “I just need Duncan to help me get rid of Asher, then I can have total control of the Russian Mafia!” he broke the pen and let out an ev’l laugh.

Carlos nodded, but suddenly frowned as though he just recalled something.

“But wouldn’t Asher’s de.ath raise madame’s suspicion?”

“What do you mean?” the man asked.

“Duncan doesn’t know Asher’s real identity, isn’t klling Asher gonna declare war Duncan and madame?”

The man’s brows furrowed as he gave Carlo’s question a thought, then he shrugged.

“That’s none of our business” he said. “We’ll just let Duncan get rid of Asher, then sit back and watch while he and madame fight themselves…” he smirked victoriously. “…while we’ll effortlessly benefit from them!”

Carlos grinned.

“You’re so wise, sir, how did you plan all these in a short notice?”

The man shook his head.

“I didn’t plan it on a short notice” he said. “I’ve been planning different ways of getting Asher outta my way, and finally an opportunity came knocking, shouldn’t I gladly open the door?”

Carlos nodded.

“You’re so meticulous, sir”

“Hm” he hummed. “Go, let Madame know that Duncan has taken her son away”

“Yes, sir” Carlos said and left.

The man swivelled his chair around with a victorious smirk playing on his face.

“Finally, I’ll have the Russian Mafia group to myself!” then he let out a loud laugh.

Eight Hours Later (7:50pm)

Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans

Another nurse ran out from the emergency room, carrying a tray filled with used cotton fabric that seemed to be soaked in bI®od, and this is the forth nurse coming out with soaked fabric.

Mr Baldwin couldn’t stay silent anymore, he rushed towards the nurse and grabbed her by her right shoulder.

“What the h’ll is going on?! Why do all of you keep coming out with this?! How are my wife and son doing?!” he growled in frustration.

“Sir, sir” the nurse winced as Mr Baldwin’s grip was too tight.

Fatima and Lucas rushed towards them (Mr Baldwin and the nurse), Lucas quickly pulled Mr Baldwin’s hand away, and Fatima started apologizing to the nurse.

“Calm down, sir” Lucas tried to calm Mr Baldwin, but that seem to infuriate him even more.

“Why isn’t nobody telling me anything? Goddamn it! It’s been eight hours! Eight fking long hours, why is there no news about my family’s situation?!”

While Mr Baldwin was making this racket, the doors to the emergency room opened and doctor Luke stepped out. He took off his nose mask, and approached Mr Baldwin.

“What took you so long? Why it take you eight whole hours to treat my wife? How’s she? How’s my son?” Mr Baldwin asked in one breath.

Doctor Luke smiled and nodded.

“Your wife is stable now, Mr Baldwin” doctor Luke said.

Mr Baldwin frowned at his words.

“My wife is stable” doctor Luke nodded, still smiling. “Then what about my son?”

The smile on doctor Luke’s face vanished, and he cleared his throat lightly.

“Uh, about your son..” he trailed off and cleared his throat again, which made Mr Baldwin frowned even more.

“Enough with the suspense and spit it out!” he growled.

“Yeah, yeah” doctor Luke inhaled deeply. “From our observation and after several tests, we’ve confirmed that your wife’s gonna have some complications during childbirth”

“Complications?!” Both nanny Pamela and Fatima exclaimed at once.

They exchanged scared looks, with their mouths left ajar and both of them release shaky breaths. Nanny Pamela grabbed doctor Luke’s arm to get his attention.

“What kind of complications are you talking about?” she asked while gasping for air, she looked scared already even without having the slightest idea of what doctor Luke had to say.

“Please calm down, ma’am, we are still gonna continue doing our best on her” he comforted nanny Pamela.

“Tell us what complications you’re talking about!” Mr Baldwin growled.

Doctor Luke flinched back, but quickly comported himself.

“Your wife’s body is too weak, and she might not be able to undergo natural child delivery, so, we’ll advise we bring out your son and put in him in an incubator for his remaining three months”

“What?” Nanny Pamela whispered.

“Yes, ma’am” he nodded. “But we aren’t so sure of this, we must wait until Mrs Baldwin wakes up to run another test on her, and confirm if your son is very healthy, if he is strong enough, then he might help his mother experience natural child delivery, but…” he trailed off and shook his head.

“But what?” Mr Baldwin asked anxiously.

Doctor Luke sighed deeply, and shook his head again.

“Your wife lost so much bIood, so I doubt your baby will be smart or healthy enough to help his mother experience natural child delivery”

“Don’t cvrse my family!” Mr Baldwin roared as he made an attempt to attack doctor Luke, but Lucas was fast enough to stop him in time.

“Thank you, doctor” Fatima thanked the doctor.

The doors opened, and two nurses pushed a sleeping Mrs Baldwin out in a stretcher, nanny Pamela and Fatima rushed after them as they headed towards a ward.

“Uh, I think I should go wash up” doctor Luke said, he glanced at Mr Baldwin and left in a hurry, as if someone’s after his life.

Mr Baldwin growled and pvshed Lucas off him.

“I wanna kll someone, I will kll that id!ot!” he roared, referring to Asher.
