The old Donovan quietly observed the exchange with creased brows,
what could Dylan be getting at?
He thought
“Well, you know, getting to old age sometimes drains one’s memory, which is why I will remind you”
Dylan said and continued, making sure he got their attention, which he did with ease as everyone really wanted to know how he would escape from the situation
“You hold no percent, my beloved grandfather holds thirty five…..” Dylan bridged to see his everyone’s demeanor change to one of confusion, including his grandfather…. “….and I hold sixty five percent”
Dylan grinned
“So who should be giving who orders?
The Grandpa hit his hand on the table
“What insolence! how is it possible?! If you hold such percentage, then how about these shareholders seated here? and how the hell does Artemis have none?
Even Artemis was shocked about what Dylan said and even more about what his grandpa was saying
“M-Mr Donovan, you mean you don’t know about us not having any share?
You sent one of your men to buy our shares from us and also promised to compensate us when a new CEO emerges”
“Yes you did Mr Donovan, please explain this”
There was an uproar, Dylan and Garfield kept mum, with a smirk on their lips
“You ingrate! tell me what you did!!
Dylan’s grandpa yelled at him, he had seen the glint and smirk all over Dylan and he knew that his heartless grandson had done something to manipulate everything!
No wonder he seemed calm right from the start!!
He had everything under control!!!
“Well, grandpa, your eight shareholders sold their shares to me, to be more precised.
I sent one of your men who is loyal to your dear grandson, to go buy their shares which they did willingly after the promises made to them, so automatically.
I’m the major leading shareholder of this enterprise and you grandpa, have no right or power to make a decision without my consent but I can make one without your consent, isn’t that wonderful everyone?
Dylan smiled at them as if he was just discussing about roses and ice creams.
“How could you do this to your own grandfather?!!! you ingrate, going behind my back to bribe one of my men!!!
Old Donovan boomed, he stood up with a screech of the chair and staggered, clutching his heart. His face scrunched up in pain
“Well, you raised me that way, ruthless and heartless, I learnt well grandpa”
Dylan said nonchalantly
“Send Mr Donovan out, I don’t want anyone dying here”
Dylan said to one of his grandpa’s men, and immediately, they helped Mr Donovan out the hall.
The others were all still like they have been poured a bucket of ice water, none daring to speak first
Dylan laughed at their plight
“Mr Artemis, no words, have we?
The man glared at him
“Well, seeing as you easily agreed to my removal from the CEO’s position, then I see y’all as a threat and I can’t continue working with bunch of ingrates anymore, moreover……(Scoffs)….you don’t have any shares in this company, so y’all are fired”
Everyone’s eyes widened
“No no Mr Donovan, please don’t do this”
“We’re sorry Mr Donovan, please let us stay and work with you even without holding a share, we can be a mere employee”
They all begged but Dylan was as if, he wasn’t the one they were pleading to
Some seeing his nonchalant expression, walked out of the hall in regrets
Mr Artemis walked up to Dylan
“You know you can’t do this right?! I have been a shareholder in this company for ten years! ten good years!!!
He boomed
He couldn’t accept the fact that a man he was old enough to be his father, is actually dismissing him from his position
Dylan looked at him with bore
“First of all Mr Artemis, I can and I have…. secondly, see it as a retirement to look after your approaching old age, thirdly, one more word from you and you’ll regret not leaving when others left”.
