Episode 28
Vivian was talking with Jeremy about the plans to get their marriage registered as soon as she’s able to get Leonard sign the divorce papers.
She was so excited that he was as eager as he was to have their marriage registered since her mother had bluntly refused to support her union with Jeremy.
Her mother literally threw Jeremy out of her.house the night Vivian had brought him to see her. She had cursed him for being a problem in her daughter’s marriage and imagining that she’d be as dumß as her daughter to welcome him with open hands.
Vivian was afraid that Jeremy would lose interest in her after the rejection, but was quite pleased to see that he was determined to have her as a wife before the baby arrived.
While they sat talking in Jeremy’s house, his phone rang, and he picked it up on the second ring. “Yes Mary, ….yes, I’ll be coming over later tonight. What do you mean focus on Vivian? Since when did you start telling me how to live my life? Just shut the fcuk up and wait for me” he told her before he hung up.
Vivian didn’t know what to make of the call, but whatever it was, she knew that Mary wasn’t a good person and she was beginning to worry about what business they were cooking that needed Jeremy going to Mary’s house every night since she returned from the trip with Leonard.
What could they be up to? It certainly has nothing to do with the plan to get Mary and Leonard together, because the very night she visited Mary upon her return from the trip, she had learnt that he had just left Mary’s house.
“What’s up with you and Mary? Why are you always in her house?” Vivian asked Jeremy lightly. “How’s that your business? How does it affect you what I do with anyone? It’d interest you to know that I don’t play with my privacy, keep your nose out of my affairs” Jeremy flared up.
Vivian was shocked at how rashly he spoke to her, but she was.more afraid of how he looked menacingly at her, so she shut her mouth had stayed where she was. She had insisted on passing the night in his place, hoping to know when he’d return from Mary’s place, but her presence in his house didn’t stop Jeremy from passing the night at Mary’s house.
“Did you pass the night at Mary’s house? I sat all night waiting for you to come back” She ventured when he returned the next morning.
“Vivian, don’t let me tell you again, stay away from my business. Where I passed the night isn’t your business, don’t infuriate me” he warned her and went in to take his bath, while Vivian stood there, too afraid to say a word.
Some kilometers away, Leonard and Valerie had gone back into the hotel quickly to know what Vince had been calling Leonard for.
Valerie walked into the room looking like a rain soaked chick, Tricia looked at her and knew why she was looking the way she was. It was clear someone had talked some sense into her, and since that someone isn’t Vince, then it could only be Leonard.
Leonard and Vince shook hands in greeting before he walked over to talk to Tricia, he only had to say a few words before Tricia started laughing. “And you think I was going to throw the bath water away together with child? Of course not Leo, she’s my only sister after all” Tricia said, expressing her forgiveness for Valerie.
“Come here you big headed girl” she told an already anxious Valerie who ran into her arms happily. “Don’t you ever make me so angry again” she told her calmly before letting her out of her embrace.
The atmosphere in the room relaxed considerably and the cheeky Valerie returned to her old self. Leonard was glad it didn’t take much for the two sisters to return to their usual lovely selves.
Vince cleared his throat and began his speech. “Leo my man, you have done noble, asking for forgiveness for your woman promptly, but we’d need to go beyond that. We’d need to talk about the situation that gave rise to their fracas” Vince began.
“Valerie had called her sister earlier to tell her that you two are now together, we’ll talk about you not telling me later, but the crux of the matter is, Tricia objected to the relationship, and the only inference Valerie drew from it was that she definitely wanted you for keeps and…” he was still saying but Leonard cut in.
“I know all that okay, I know that Valerie had wrongfully accused her sister of having a thing for me, and yeah, I know I have lashes waiting for me for failing to tell you promptly that my heart has found peace at last, but I was waiting to tell you after I’ve dealt with the remaining loose ends with Vivian and Mary. I was hoping I could keep our affairs under the radar until I’ve done the needful, because knowing Tricia, I knew she’d object to the relationship now!” Leonard responded
“Oh, you wanted to wait until you handled the issues on your own before letting us know. Wow! Smart kid!” he teased Leonard.
“Now don’t be like this Vince. You know Tricia better than I do, and you know she’d never approve of me being with her sister until I’ve done what I should. I know I should have waited to tell Valerie how I felt for her, but you know how it is!” Leonard said again.
“Okay, that means you already know why I told my sister what I told her. It means you already understand my concerns. So what are you going to do about it? What plans have you put in place to ensure that my sister isn’t hurt?
Leonard spent about half an hour explaining how he planned to ensure that neither Mary nor Vivian or any other woman for that matter would be able to trouble the love they now share.
Tricia listened carefully to his explanations, and like his formal presentations and analysis in the course of discharging his duties in Mcmorrit Holdings, this plan of his was indeed f?õl proof.
“I must applaud you for the fact that you’ve already thought ahead even before I mentioned my worries, and the fact that as always, you’re brilliant enough to come up with excellent ideas on how to tame those villains, but I hope that these plans work out as planned. I hope something doesn’t go wrong!” Tricia worried.
“You don’t have to worry baby, I already told you Leonard won’t allow a single stump claim two pots from him. He’ll certainly do something about those two people. And now that Vivian is pregnant, I doubt she’d be thinking about Leonard, so our major worry should be Mary” Vince said.
“Thanks for your concern y’all, but aren’t you talking as if I’m just a baby? Aren’t you assuming I can’t take care of myself? Do you really think I need all that shielding from that clown called Mary?” Valerie asked and the other roared in laughter.
“Just how well do you think you know what can happen if Mary strikes? How emotionally prepared do you think you are to face those villains? See how a simple objection from your sister whom you love so much got you so riled up that you even accused her of wanting your man!” Vince asked in between spasms of laughter.
“You don’t know me Vince, you really can’t tell what I’m capable of. Don’t think I’ll let anyone bully me, because I’ll always stand up for what’s mine!” Valerie boasted.
“Well is someone not being too quick to call someone’s husband hers?” Tricia asked. “Erm, I disagree with you baby. This man here is single, same as Valerie. The fact that they have a few papers to sign soon doesn’t change the fact that Leo and Vivian are totally unrelated now” Vince said.
And there was another roar of laughter. “Thanks for that observation my man. Please Tricia, trust me when I tell you that I have things all planned out. It’s going to be okay” Leonard tried to convince Tricia once more.
They talked some more and Leonard asked to be excused, he needed to send a file to the Admin Manager, ahead of their return to work two day later.
Valerie of course followed him out, she had to let her sister be with her man, plus she needed to ask Leonard some questions.
Leonard was soon done sending the files he had to send and was preparing to go out to get his beard shaved, but the love drunk girlfriend of his insisted that she gets it done for him.
And even though he should object to getting a home shave, he found himself surrendering to her wishes. He ordered for he shaving kit and was soon getting the presidential touch from the woman he loves.
