“I have to speak with my lawyer” “Why did you do it?” the DPO repeated banging his hand on the table in front of Franklin, “I need to speak to my lawyer” Franklin replied, “lawyer?” One of the inspectors repeated with a look of disgust, “pesin wey kill im padi dey get lawyer?” He asked looking at the other inspector and his boss, “Mr man answer the question and stop wasting your own time, except you want us to lock you up in the cell and forget you there” he threatened, “I demand to speak to my lawyer, it is my right” Franklin insisted, “you can’t just detain me here for something I didn’t do, I’m innocent!” “Mr man I put it to you that you did it” the DPO insisted trying to provoke him into confessing, “you murdered Mr. Balogun” “I did not” Franklin insisted, “do you have any evidence to prove that I did?” “For starters, we overhead your conversation with the person you hired to do the job, that alone is evidence enough” the DPO replied balancing against the table with both hands and looking straight into Franklin’s eyes without blinking in a bid to intimidate him, “what you heard means nothing to me” Franklin insisted trying his best not to sound intimidated, “it’s your word against mine in the court of law” “That’s where you’re wrong” the DPO replied, “we’ve asked your network service provider to give us details of all your calls, every single one of them from outgoing to incoming calls to even 1 second call flashes” the DPO replied, “we are going to use them against you in the court of law.
