Chapter 128

“I’m glad to finally meet you, Mr. Martin. I’ve been longing for this meeting.

It’s great to do business with you,” Mr. Marcus extended his hand for a handshake, which Martin reciprocated.

“It’s my pleasure,” he said, trying to put on his best smile.

Martin sat in the car alongside Oliver, who was busy staring out of the window.

He just wanted to go back to her and make her feel better when she’s with him. He wanted to whisper in her ear and assure her that everything will be okay.

He dialed her number for the first time, but she wasn’t picking up, which made him worried.

“Why isn’t she picking up?” he muttered to himself. He dialed her number again, but she still didn’t answer.

He sighed and dialed Harris’ number, who picked up almost immediately.

“Oh, hi Martin…”

“Where is Evelyn? I’ve been calling her, but she’s not picking up,” he interrupted, and Harris rolled his eyes.

“Evelyn, Martin wants to talk to you,” Harris yelled through the phone, probably handing the phone to Evelyn.

“Why haven’t you been picking up my calls?” he asked angrily, making Evelyn sigh.

“I didn’t realize my phone was ringing,” she replied, and Martin scoffed.

“How is Mom?”

“She’s okay now. She made it through the surgery,” she said happily, making Martin sigh in relief.

“I’m so glad she’s okay,” Martin said.

“I know. I wanted to call you as soon as possible, but I was just so happy that I forgot,” she explained.

“It’s okay, I understand,” Martin said, and Evelyn smiled.

“I’m missing you like crazy… everything I touch reminds me of you, everything I do reminds me of you. I really miss you,” Evelyn said, and Martin smiled.

His cheeks turned red.

“Aww, Eve, you’re making me blush,” he said, and Evelyn burst into laughter.

“I miss you more… I’m longing for you,” she said.

“Okay, I’ll call you later. Harris seems impatient,” Evelyn said, and Martin laughed softly.

“Bye, babe,” Martin said.

“Bye,” she replied, and the call ended.

“Oh my… Geez. Finally,” Harris said as he took his phone from her, while everyone just laughed.

“You can see her now. She has been moved to her ward,” a nurse said.

“Thank you so much,” she said and rushed to the ward.

She gently opened the door and smiled when she saw her mother lying on the bed, sleeping peacefully.

She felt relieved now that her mother was okay.
