Chapter 47
Almost immediately, the door opened, revealing a woman walking in gracefully, chewing gum lightly. Martin growled in disgust as he stared at her.
She was wearing a short black dress that revealed her legs, paired with high heels.
“Martin,” she called out and ran to hug him, but Martin was quick enough to push her away, making her frown.
“Excuse me, do I know you?” he asked angrily, and the young lady frowned even more.
“Hmmm, Martin, I wanted you to attend a party with her,” Mr. Parker said, and he scoffed.
“Why, if I may ask?” he raised his eyebrows in a questioning manner.
“I have a business deal worth a billion naira, and he told me he will accept the deal if you date his daughter,” Mr. Parker explained, while the girl just smiled.
Martin stared at her for a while and then burst into laughter, leaving everyone confused.
“Oh, really? You want me to date her?”
“Manners, Martin,” his father scolded.
“The fact that you are my father is one of the reasons why I respect you.
I have my own business to run, and you have yours,” Martin said seriously.
“Can’t you help me?”
“Old man, listen here, I am never going to date her, and besides, I have a girlfriend whom I love and won’t leave for anyone in this world,” Martin said, his voice showing his seriousness.
Charlotte’s eyes widened as he made that statement, and her guess was that they were back together.
“If that is all, I will take my leave,” he stood up from the chair.
He stared at the girl before walking out of the house, ignoring the calls from behind.
He had made a vow never to hurt her again, and he was never going to do that to Evelyn.
Getting her back was a difficult journey, and he was not ready to lose her again.
Evelyn was sleeping peacefully on the bed when the sound of her phone ringing interrupted her sleep.
She yawned and stretched to pick up the phone from the small table.
She smiled when she saw it was Martin.
‘I really need to change his contact name,’ she thought to herself.
“Hey, babe,” his deep voice spoke through the phone as she answered the call.
“Hey, are you back from your parents’ house?” she asked.
“Yes, I am,” he replied.
“Hmm, okay,” she said.
“I miss you,” he said, and Evelyn smiled. She grabbed hold of the pillow, smiling widely.
“I miss you too,” she said, and he chuckled on the other side of the phone.
Two people crazily in love with each other.
“Good morning, boss,” the staff greeted as he walked into the company, with Evelyn following behind.
Martin tried to hold her hand, but she quickly pulled her hand away.
She looked behind, trying to see if anyone was looking at them, but luckily, there was no one.
