OUR MARRIAGE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER : EPISODES 31 – 40
Episode 35
Mrs. Sehgal has also helped in planning the event,” the event manager said.
So Ma was involved, and I wasn’t aware at all. I was so surprised. I looked at Ma, and she stood there smiling at me and Ansh.
And a big truck full of goodies came in. The volunteers gave everyone their gifts, and Ma and others helped.
Even Ansh left my side and mingled with the children. Even though I visited them frequently, they seemed to have more fun with Ansh.
It didn’t seem like they met him for the first time. Ansh also appeared like a small kid reliving his childhood.
The kids were having a great time. It was really overwhelming.
I never expected this from him. It made me feel proud. He got along so well with the kids. It seemed like they already liked him.
“Ahana… Didn’t I say he is too good for you?” It was Ma. I didn’t realize when she came and stood near me.
I think she must have been observing us for a long time.
I was so engrossed in watching everything that was happening around me.
“Ah, Honey, he has a big heart, and all you need to do is make a small place for yourself in it. He has so much love to give.”
Then I saw Ansh again. He looked different. It wasn’t the same Ansh I knew, flirting and then reverting to his old self.
I know he has a big heart, but I couldn’t tell Ma that there will never be a place for me in it, no matter how hard I try.
And why should I? He never showed me respect or love. But I still wanted to try. I had a strange feeling seeing him laugh and play with the kids.
I know he had some deep pain hidden in his heart that he keeps a secret.
But I know I’ll be able to make up for it and surprise him on his special day.
I was still staring at him. It was the real him that I discovered that day, Ansh who was lost somewhere.
“Where are you lost?”
“Nothing, Ma… I know…” I said.
Just then, a few kids came running towards me. I knew them, and they recognized me too. We always met once a week.
“Ahana Di, come on, let’s play. Ansh bhaiya is so sweet. He has brought so many gifts for us,” Kia, a small girl, said.
“Coming, Kia… Let’s go.” She pulled me towards the jugglers. I saw Ansh was playing with some small boys. I also joined in and had fun with them.
I saw Ma smiling all the time. I enjoyed myself so much among the kids. It was the best time in months.
I secretly captured those sweet moments in my camera. I don’t know when I’ll see Ansh smiling so genuinely again.
Ansh was so engaged with them that he didn’t realize I was capturing these beautiful memories.

ANSH’S POV
Ahana looked gorgeous in that blue gown. It suited her perfectly.
I was glad that I asked Fray for a perfect match. Actually, it was Ma who suggested.
I really admire her, just like Granny, and I feel really fortunate to have her.
Ahana was so lucky. I hated to keep her waiting, but I knew she would be more than happy after seeing the arrangements.
Ma and I have specially organized a surprise fun fair for the kids.
Ahana wasn’t aware of it. She was quite upset that I showed up a bit late at home. But it would be worth the wait.
She and Dad had developed a good rapport. They were both on the verge of grounding me. But you know what?
I liked that she considered them as her family. Despite our differences, she never showed it.
I saw the surprise on her face when she saw me all ready in my suit. I enjoyed every bit of that reaction.
I’m sure she liked it, but her self-respect didn’t allow her to admit it.
I know I didn’t compliment her, but never mind, these things are quite normal now.
I did my best to control my gaze and my actions, not allowing myself to be attracted to her.
However, in the end, I held her as we got out of the car.
It was a surprising moment for her, and I believe she would be pleased with it.
