OUR MARRIAGE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER : EPISODES 71 – 80

Episode 75

They were asking about her. They said her cell was switched off, and I was the one who had to give reasons this time. It’s difficult to convince them. I don’t know how Ahana managed.

It’s really frustrating to be all alone in such a huge house.

I can completely understand how Ahana must be feeling while she was all alone here.

My beard has once again grown. I am avoiding Mir too. I think he knows where Ahana is, but they are all troubling me.

He repeatedly calls me to his house, but I refuse. He knows I am alone. So even I have decided not to feel her absence.

I am standing at the airport to receive Dad, Grandad, Ma, and my in-laws.

They are just about to land. It’s been more than a week, and I don’t know where Ahana is. I still haven’t made any efforts to check on her.

“Ansh… Son… How are you? Where is Ahana?” I saw Ma coming towards me and asking for Ahana.

“Actually, we had a meeting. I insisted that I want to pick you all up. So, she stayed back to fill up for me.”

She seemed a bit unsatisfied with my answer. I know that she is well aware that Ahana never compromises family for work.

“It’s fine. I know you have a lot of work. Anyways we enjoyed a lot. Isn’t it, Veer?”

“Yeah… Come on… Let’s go home.”

We dropped the Sehgal’s at their mansion and returned to our house.

Grandad retired to his bedroom, and when I was about to go to my room, Dad called me.

“Ansh…”

“Yes, Dad…”

“Are you not going to the office?”

“No, Dad… I am tired. I want to rest.”

“Where is Ahana?”

Oh! Shoot!

“Hmm… Aaaaa… She is at the office. I told you already.”

“Then she better be there. I want to see her in the morning at the breakfast table. You know I miss her coffee terribly.”

Saying so, he went away.

Why did I have that strange feeling in my stomach that Dad already knew what was happening here?

I changed into my casual clothes and jumped on the bed, messing up the entire fabric. Ahana always made sure it was perfectly done.

But what if something bad is happening with her? If she is in some trouble, then…

I quickly got up from the bed. I can’t rest now. I have to find her. If Dad doesn’t see her, then I’ll be in trouble… And I am extremely worried now.

Then just one person came to my mind… Jaai…

He must be aware of Ahana. She would have informed him.

But I don’t even have his contact number. Oh, God… Help me…

I picked up my cell phone.

“Jen… Do you have Jaai’s number? Is he in Mumbai?”

“Yeah… I’ll message you on WhatsApp. Jaai Sir came back a week ago from London.”

On hearing that, I could feel my cheeks getting warm. Ahana has been missing for a week too.

Did she… Oh, man… No… This can’t be true.

“Send me his address… Right away…”

I hung up.
I’m sure tonight is going to be a long one.

Jaai Mehra… I’m coming. If anything happens to Ahana, you just hope that I wasn’t her husband.

ANSH’S POV

My phone beeped, and I immediately checked it.

Jen had sent me Jaai’s address and his phone number. I called him, but his phone was switched off. Why?

I hurriedly left the house, not caring about my casual attire of gray sweatpants and a t-shirt.

I just wanted to find Jaai and Ahana as soon as possible, but I also didn’t want to see her with him.

It was already 1 AM. I knew it was late, but I had to do this.

Jaai’s place was about a 45-minute ride from our house, but I drove like there was no tomorrow. I reached there in just 25 minutes.

When I arrived, I was out of breath, even though I had come by car. There was a large nameplate outside his bungalow that read “Mehra’s.”

His house wasn’t as huge as ours, but it had two stories. I wondered if he lived alone as I noticed some lights on. He must be awake.

Good for me, but bad for him. I rang the doorbell multiple times, my patience wearing thin.

“Wait… Who’s here at this hour of night?” I heard his husky voice behind the door.

“Ansh! Man… What are you…” He started saying, but I quickly grabbed him by the hem of his t-shirt, interrupting him.

“Wait… What…” He questioned my sudden action, but I’m sure he could see the rage in my eyes. He looked puzzled.

“Where is Ahana…? Tell me, or else…” I demanded.

“Hey… Bro… Chill. She’s not here.”

“Look, Jaai, I’m not in the mood for games. I know you know where she is. Tell me, or else it won’t end well. Is she with you now…?”

“Hey… Buddy…”

“Don’t ‘buddy’ me. Or else…”

“You’ll punch me. Then do it. I think you’ll feel better. I know you’ve wanted to do it for a long time,” he said calmly.

Seriously… I had him by the neck, and all he did was ask me to pvnch him.

I released my grip on him. His eyes revealed that Ahana wasn’t there, and somehow, I could sense it. She wasn’t here.

“Ansh… Come on in. I can serve you a coffee. It won’t be as good as Ahana’s, but it won’t be that bad.”

I looked at him, and he smiled. I went inside. I wasn’t in the mood for a fight anymore.

Did he drink her coffee? Of course, he would have. He’s her friend. Why does it matter to me?

Jaai was wearing a t-shirt and shorts. His house was really magnificent.

I sat on the sofa, and he went into the kitchen, presumably to prepare coffee.

The living room was well furnished, with a royal chandelier hanging in the middle. It was quite spacious.

From the French balcony, I could see a swimming pool. The rear wall was covered with an expensive-looking wallpaper.
