OUR MARRIAGE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER : EPISODES 71 – 80

Episode 79

Ahana blushed. Her cheeks were red like cherries.
“I wanted to surprise you, but you guys came back unexpectedly, so my plan failed, and on top of that, I fainted. So…”

Was she really going to surprise us? But there are still many unanswered questions.

Ahana has to answer them all. She is not going to hide behind all this. I need them now.

“Ansh… Are you just going to stand there and stare? Aren’t you going to say something?” Grandad said.
“Hey! I brought you all sweets…”

Jaai entered with a box full of sweets.

He fed it first to Ahana and then followed the others. He was just about to come to me, but I interrupted him, stopping him before he could reach me.

“You guys, please accompany Ahana. I’ll go and check the formalities about her discharge details.”

Saying so, I left. I had a mixture of emotions going on in my mind. Anger, frustration, and many more that I couldn’t describe.

Ahana and I have to talk. And this time it’s really going to be hard.
And am I angry? Really…
I just don’t understand how to react.

AHANA’S POV

I saw Ansh after such a long time. He was shouting at the staff angrily. Thankfully I handled it well.

But then I fainted, and it ruined everything.

The doctor had asked me not to take stress, but that’s impossible when Ansh is around you.

It felt relieving to see him. His beard was grown, and it looked like he didn’t sleep properly for many days.

His eyes were in a hue of red. But still, I don’t understand why did he look so charming to me.

I am currently laying in the hospital room recalling how difficult the past few weeks were.

Yeah! I am going to become a mom, and I am really very happy and excited about it.

It is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I never knew it’s such a wonderful feeling.

Everyone was wishing me, and Jaai came in with sweets. He was also so happy. He distributed sweets to the entire hospital. He seemed happier than Ansh too.

I was upset now. Ansh felt without even speaking to me. I don’t know what happened to him. Is he not happy?

But then why should he be?
But I know he loves kids. Then why did he leave without having sweets.

“Hana… What are you thinking?”
“Nothing… Ma… Why don’t you all go home?

They discharge me in an hour, and Ansh will bring me home. You all must be tired too.”

“Are you sure…”
“Yes… And Jaai is here anyways.”
“Okay… We’ll see you soon. Take care.”

Saying so, they left, leaving Jaai and me alone.

“So… Mommy to be Mrs. Raichand.
Nervous?”

“Yeah… A bit. But Jaai, when did you return? I thought I lost you too.”
“What nonsense, Hana… I went on a mini vacation to relieve myself.

I needed a break. And here, what were you up to?”

“I wonder why is everyone taking vacations. What do you mean by saying what was I up to?”

“Hana, tell me where did you go? Ansh came yesterday night to my home.
He was about to kill me, thinking that you were with me. He really cares for you.
Is something wrong between you? And why doesn’t he know you are pregnant?”

“There’s nothing wrong, for heaven’s sake… I said I wanted to surprise everyone. And did you say that Ansh came to your house searching for me.”

“Yeah!!! He looked worried like crazy. And I know you are lying. You weren’t planning any surprises. Tell me the truth.”

Goodness… Jaai really knows me well.
“What happened in London? I called Ram Uncle but he doesn’t know where she is.”

I swear Jaai, he is still mad at you.” I said trying to change the topic.
“Hana… Dare you change the topic. And now keep one thing clear in your mind.

My story is over. I am done with it. Now forget about it and think of Ansh and your baby.”

Jaai said in one go. Did he really give up on his love? He looks so much in pain. But how well he hides all of them.

“Where did you go?”
He wasn’t going to let it go.
“I didn’t go anywhere, J. I just wanted some peace of mind so I went to a hermitage on the outskirts of the city.

It was very peaceful and gave me and my baby strength which we needed. Happy now….”

“Pretty much… And why did this good news get delayed? Why wasn’t I informed about it?”

“Hmmm… Perhaps… Because I wanted the baby’s father to know about it first. And you were out of coverage area.”

“Thank God… Luckily I returned or else I would have missed it. I swear Hana, I am very happy for you both. Your family is complete now….”

Yeah… It is but without love, trust, and faith…

“J… Somewhere in my heart, I know your family will also be complete, and till then we are there. Aren’t we your family?”

“You are…”
“Ahana… We can leave now. Oh!! If you two are talking something, I’ll wait outside.”

Ansh came in. Looking as depressed as before.
“No… Ansh. Wait. It’s fine. You can take her home. She needs rest. I’ll see you later. Take care. Bye.”

Jaai left, leaving Ansh and me alone in the room. I was feeling a bit awkward now. Ansh and his strange behavior are making me crazy every second.

“I am waiting downstairs in the car.” Saying so, he left.

I got up from the bed on my own. I was still feeling a bit dizzy now. I just wished that Jaai didn’t leave.

As he said, Ansh was waiting for me in the car. He hasn’t spoken a word since we met today.

He was driving quite carefully now.
The entire ride, we didn’t speak a word. I thought of starting a conversation, but Ansh had created a lot of distance between us.

When we reached home, everyone was already present in the house. Since in Ansh’s family, I was the only female, Ma did our welcome.

She had the puja plate in her hand. She put the tilak on Ansh’s and my forehead and sprinkled some grains of rice.

A tradition to welcome the coming new family member.

I was very happy. But I didn’t see that same happiness on Ansh’s face.

After a bit of chatting and receiving loads of advice, we had dinner. Ansh didn’t speak the entire evening. My family left, and so did Jaai.

Dad and grandad too returned to their room. I was feeling very lonely now.
