OUR MARRIAGE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER : EPISODES 71 – 80

Episode 78

“Ansh… I didn’t ask you where and why did you run away. So you don’t have any right to do so.”

“I have all the right to do so. See that ring on your finger. You belong to me, so now tell me..”

“So…. What if I have the ring. Did you do any of your responsibilities?

NO!! You left me alone. So I am not answering where did I go. And I have my sources. You are not the only one who can investigate.”

She said, jerking my hand away.
“So you were spying on me all the time?”

“Look… I am already tired. I am in no mood to fight.”

“Tired of what Ahana… Tell me. Who do you think is going to do your pending work? I am not..”

“Of course, you are not. You couldn’t even do your work, how on Earth are you going to do mine. Anyways, it’s your files that are incomplete. Check mine. It’s all done. And about spying… Yes… I observed you.

The way you ran away, I couldn’t believe you would do that, so I wasn’t left with any choice….. Do you know how worried everyone was?

Do you ever think of others?”
I saw concern in her eyes.

“Do you know how worried I was in these past days.

So, to get back at me, you did all of this, right? I said, keeping the conversation going.

It didn’t seem like you were concerned. Anyway, I don’t enjoy playing games like you. I went on a vacation.

Happy!! Now… Why should only you enjoy? I’ll enjoy too… So I enjoyed… She said again, leaving me.
I held her back.

I was enjoying… I asked her. She knew how miserable I was because she had spies on me.

Ansh… Let me go. I’m not feeling well. I’m tired of standing. Let me go… I… No… Ahana!!!! You’re not leaving…
She suddenly fell unconscious and stumbled.

I grabbed her from the waist. She closed her eyes in my arms. I was panicked and worried now.

Ahana… Wake up… Open your eyes… Ahana… I said, tapping her cheeks.
Jen… Jen…
Yes…
Ask the driver to bring the car.
I quickly lifted her in my arms. The car was waiting at the entrance.

Everyone was looking at us, but it was a look of concern. I held her even tighter now. Her eyes were completely closed. Her hands were wrapped around me.

God! Please don’t let anything happen to her. Please!!

They had taken Ahana into a room where the doctor was examining her. I was leaning against the wall with my hands in my pocket when the doctor came out.

I had never been this worried before.
Doctor… What happened to her? Is she okay now? I was getting more anxious with each passing moment.

Yeah! There’s nothing to worry about. Doctor Mrs. Bhatt answered. I let out a sigh of relief.

It was just due to a bit of stress that she fainted. I told her not to stress when she came two weeks ago. She takes a lot of tension.

Mr. Richand, you should take care of your wife, especially at this point in time. She is pregnant, you know, right?

ANSH’S POV

Mr. Raichand, you should take care of your wife at least now. She is pregnant, you know, right?

Was I hearing correctly? “Oh!! I am so sorry. You didn’t know yet. I forgot.

I spoiled Ahana’s surprise. She told me that she was going to surprise her family members.

But now that I’ve told you, I’ll tell you the entire thing. Ahana is 4 weeks pregnant.

Congratulations…” She continued. Wow! Isn’t that a lot to take in? It’s been a long day…

“OMG!! Did we hear it right? My Ahana is going to be a mom… God bless her and you…” Ma exclaimed.

I could see tears welling up in her eyes. Where did these people come from?

Everyone was there. Dad, grandad, Ahana’s dad, and grandpa. And of course, Jaai. Why is he always around when I don’t want him to be?

“Ansh… Son… Congrats. You are going to be a dad. Finally, I’ll have someone to call me grandad, isn’t it, Dad…” My dad told grandad. They looked so happy.

“But… How did you know we were here?” I asked, confused.

“Actually, I called Jen because Ahana wasn’t picking up her cell. I wanted to know if she was in the office or not.

But Jen said that you took Ahana to the hospital. She said Ahana got unconscious.

So I called Ma, and she informed the others.” Jaai explained.

“Anyway, congrats buddy…” He said, smiling.

What should I reply? I was shocked. Why didn’t Ahana tell me about all this? Am I going to face all the embarrassment alone?

“Wow… I’ll be a great-grandma now…” Ma said, beaming with happiness.

Seriously… a baby can bring so much joy. I stood there speechless.

“This calls for a celebration. Let Ahana recover, and we will have a party. I’ll bring the sweets right now.” Saying so, Jaai left.

Dad and everyone agreed.
“Sir, the patient is conscious now. You can meet her.” A nurse came and informed us.

But before I could react, the entire group entered her room.

They were already very excited. I followed them quietly. When I entered, Ahana’s eyes were closed.

She opened them when she heard us enter.

Everyone surrounded her and gave her well wishes, followed by congratulations.

She smiled, and I could see that she was genuinely happy. Her eyes shone the same way I saw them two hours earlier. She didn’t look tired at all.

It seemed like she was looking for someone. Maybe Jaai. She must want him nearby. He’s her best friend, after all.

But her searching eyes met mine. While she was nodding to what Ma was saying, her eyes were locked with mine.

Trying to communicate so many things. I stood still, leaning beside the door. After a moment, I turned my face away, breaking that contact, and immediately regretted it.

I was upset that I wasn’t informed about it. But from the corner of my eye, I could see the disappointment in her eyes.

“Ahana… Are you listening, sweetie?”
“Yes… Ma…” Her calm voice felt pleasant. It was soothing to hear.

“Ahana… You need to listen to what Ma says… Okay… You’ll have to take extra care now.”

Ahana’s dad said.
“Ahana… Why were we informed so late? I can see that you guys even enjoyed our vacations.”
Oh my goodness! Dad is embarrassing us now. What is he saying…
