Episode 60

“Hathor was my best friend,” I heard her say, and I flinched as I quickly looked at her.
Huh?

“We grew up together and considered ourselves sisters.

“I remember the day she discovered she was pregnant. I was the first person she told. And although she was excited, she was scared as well.

“She knew the prince loved her, but she wasn’t so sure if he’d accept the baby.

But the good thing was, she was determined to keep the baby whether or not the prince accepted it or not.

“For weeks, she kept it a secret, feeling scared of telling the prince about it.

And I was finally the one who encouraged her to tell him, and reluctantly, she did.

“To her greatest surprise, the prince’s love for her only increased.

He used to be a flirt, but as soon as he heard the news, he changed and focused all his attention on her.

“They were perfect together. Too bad unfortunate circumstances befell her, which led to her end.

And it amuses me to know even in her death, all she could think about was saving her baby.”

She smiled and touched the baby’s nose.

“He’s very handsome. And I’m sure wherever she is, she’ll be very happy seeing her child safe and strong.

So, I should be the one thanking you, Zoey, for protecting my sister’s child,” she concluded, leaving me gobsmacked.

Oh my goodness!

So… they’re actually sisters? Best friends?

No wonder she’s so determined to help me.

Oh my goodness! I was completely speechless.

“The King will be looking for you,” she further said.
“It’s not safe for you here.

I’ve made preparations, and first thing in the morning, you can return to your country.”

My eyes dilated immediately.

Zoey’s Perspective:

I gazed at her, taken aback.

Is she serious? Leave the country?

“What do you think?” She interrupted my thoughts abruptly.
“Do you like the idea?”

I pondered it.

Is it really possible to go back to America?

“H…How is that possible?” I inquired.
“Do you have tickets for me?”

“No, acquiring a ticket is too expensive and would likely attract attention. So, I’ve made arrangements for you to board a ship,” she replied, and I flinched.

What?

“A ship?” I asked, finding it perplexing.
“It will be safe, Zoey, trust me. I believe it’s the best solution at the moment. I’m certain the King is desperately searching for you, and if he finds you, considering the fact that you’ve already given birth…”

“Just so you know, the only thing that held them back before was the baby. But now, they can easily take him away and do whatever they want with you.

Please, I don’t want all the efforts we’ve made to go to waste. First thing tomorrow morning, you leave with the baby.

I have some saved up cash here, so once you arrive, you can sustain yourself for a few weeks. You can start anew with the baby,” she explained vividly, leaving me perplexed.

I lowered my head, as if fixating on the baby, and contemplated her words.

Returning to America would be wonderful. Finally, I can escape the troubles of royalty. I can find safety for myself and my child.

“Are you thinking about Zosar?” She suddenly asked, as though she could read my thoughts, and I turned my head sharply to look at her.

My heart melted at the mention of his name.

Well, of course. I can’t help but think of him.

If I leave for America tomorrow, it means I’ll be leaving without him. I’ll be separated from him.

But where is he? What could have happened to him?

I longed to hear from him so desperately, and the mere thought of it brought tears to my eyes.

Oh, Zosar…will I be able to live without him?
