Chapter Twenty Six

George furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and walked towards his uncle.
“Who did you say kll me father?” He asked.

“Mars?” He answered again, without certainty.

“Okay? You are coming with me!” Josh said and pulled him to the car but he was very strong.

“Why should I? I didn’t do anything wrong” Harris said, almost yelling.

“We need to ask you some questions and also take us to Mars” Josh explained.

He didn’t want to. He shook his head and almost closed the door but George stopped his from closing with his leg.

“Just come with us uncle. Answer some questions and… You are free to leave”

“You guys arrested my wife and now, you want to arrest me. Who the fk will take care of my kids?” He asked.

Josh and George stared at each other and sighed.
“Let’s come in then”

Minutes later… Josh was holding his handy notebook in his hand, listening to what Harris was saying but it was nothing to jot about.

He closed the notebook and faced him.
“Let me get this straight. Mr Greg sent you to harm Mr Bruno and you didn’t do it because you fell in love with Winnie” he said and Harris nodded.

“How does that even make sense?” George frowned.

“Well, I’m not done. Mr Greg wasn’t home that day so I didn’t plan any attack again. I thought to myself that I didn’t want to harm Mr Bruno and his wife, they were wonderful people, Erica was also a sweet girl who also saved my life twice. So, I didn’t harm them, Mars must have done it. I returned the money Mr Greg gave to me but Mars said someone paid him to kll them” he said.

They all gazed at each other for some seconds.
“Someone?” He asked and Harris nodded and grabbed an apple from the basket.

“Does this someone has a name?”

“Can’t remember, he never told me” he said.

“Fine, thanks Harris. There’s been no trace to you yet but stay in town just in case” Josh said and stood up with George.

“If you’re gonna find Mars, I know where you can find him” he said.

Josh appeared in front of a door with George.
They couldn’t stop looking round the whole area.

Josh pushed the doorbell and stepped back a little.
“Who is that mtherfker?!!” They heard a female voice in the background.

“It’s the cops” Josh said.

“What? Why the fk are you here? You’ve arrested my husband what else! Fk off!” She yelled.

“She won’t open up” Josh spoke softly to George.

“Let me take care of this” George said and stepped forward.

“Okay ma’am, if you open the door, we’ll try to get your husband out of jail” he said and softly smacked Josh’s chest.

They both adjusted their jacket as they heard the door flicker.
A pregnant woman showed up at the door, she was a hot lady with tattoo all over her arms.

“You’re gonna free my husband from jail?” She asked with a stick of ¢igarette on her lips.

“We would try if you answer some questions” Josh said and took the cigarette from her.

“Hey! What was that for?” She yelled.

“You are carrying a child young lady, shall we?”

“What did your husband do that get him in jail?”

“I have no idea. They rushed into the house and took him. All I could do is to yell and stare!” She yelled.

Josh sighed.
“Fine, do you know what station is that?”

“I think it’s the one by the river bank. Down the hill” she replied, leaning on the center table.

“Fine, we gotta go” George said and left the house with Josh.

“I’m sorry, got to make an urgent call. I have to make sure my sister is okay” George said to Josh who was going into the car.

“Sure, do call her”

After George made the call, they drove down town.
“So, your sister? Does she have a boyfriend?” Josh asked.

George turned and faced him, giving him a what the fk look.
“I have no idea, she’s just living her life dude. You know girls” he smirked.

Josh chuckled.
“I was dazzled when I met her at first”

“So are you helping with the case because you have a little crush on my sister?”

“Crush? No no no! I really do wanna help” he said, glaring at the road.

“Good!” George said and stared at the road.

“Why do I have to ask him? Argh!” He thought.

As they drove, they saw the station burning from distance.
“Oh no, what’s happening?” George asked with his eyes shot wide open.

They both ran out of the car towards the scene.
“What the fk happened here?” Josh asked some of the cops that made it out alive.

“I don’t know. The station just caught fire and…”

“And what? How are we gonna find my parents kller now? He’s probably de.ad!” George yelled and ran into the station.

“Hey! George! Don’t go in there!” Josh yelled and ran into the fire with him.

“The firefighters would.be here any time soon”

George started coughing immediately he got into the station.

He saw some of the cops on the floor, some were unconscious while some where coughing. Some were also dead. He heard his name but neglected it. He ran towards the criminal custody.

“Mars?!!”
“Mars?!!!” He yelled as he walked there, checking all the prison.

“Mars… He’s over there!” One of the prisoner who was lying on the floor.

“Thank you” he said and ran to the opposite direction.

“George?!!” Josh called again, coughing hard.

He got to the gate and grabbed it.
“Mars? Mars?” He called out to the man lying on the floor.
He slipped his hands through the gate and checked his pulse.
He was de.ad!

“Oh no!” He murmured and sat on the floor.

“George… You can’t be here! The fire is getting worse” Josh said and guard himself from the fire.

“He’s d.ead! The man’s d.ead!” He cried.

“I know… He couldn’t survive the fire. Let leave now or you’ll be like him”

“How are we gonna know the bI©ody fool who sent him to kll mom and dad?!”

Josh rolled his eyes and pulled George out of there.

Erica was at home waiting for her brother.
She got a call from her brother earlier, he told her what happened.

The door flung open as George and Josh walked into the house.

“George?” She called out and ran to help him. He was a little bit injured and had sustained some burns.

They both sat down on the couch.
“I’ll get the first aid box…”

“Just tell me where it is. I’ll go get it for you” Josh said, smiling at Erica.

“Sure, it’s in the cabinet. In the kitchen” she said and watched as Josh rushed into the kitchen.

“Why did you go into the fire George?”

“I had to. If we’d gotten there early, we would have met Mars and… Argh!”

“Who’s Mars? What are you even saying?”

“Just let go of me!” He groaned and left.

He walked pass Josh who was holding the first aid box, straight to his room.

Erica walked towards Josh and took the box.
“Thank you” she said.

“It’s okay, just take care of him” he said and walked out of the house.

As Erica walked towards the door, Ava rushed in.
“Where’s he? Where’s George?”

“In his room!” She said. Ava shoved her aside and rushed upstairs.

Erica herself was confused. Why was everything happening now? Now she got a perfect job, perfect friend, brother and everyone.

“Hey bro! I was wondering something!” Kelvin asked.

“What is it?” Calvin replied as he stuffed pancake into his mouth.

“Yeah, what are you wondering?” Barbie asked.

“I’m talking to Calvin, not you!” He said with annoyance.
Barbie rolled her eyes and continued eating.

“What do you want bruh?” He asked again.

“How do…I mean it’s about a lady” he said.

“I’m sorry for the interruption masters. Your delivery is here” the butler said to them. He didn’t know who Calvin was among them.

“I didn’t order anything” Kelvin murmured.

“Bring it in. I did…” Calvin smiled at him. He bowed and left.

“What did you order?” Barbie asked.

“Well, Erica’s birthday is on Saturday so…. I’m thinking of throwing her a surprise birthday” he winked and left the dinning room.

Kelvin watched as his brother left. That was exactly what he wanted to do for Erica but his brother already has the idea.

He dropped his napkin and left the dining.

Barbie furrowed her eyebrows.
“What’s going on here?” She murmured.
