Chapter 17: ENYA’S FAREWELL.

” Oh, mother!” She fell at the feet of her mother, weeping sorrowfully.

” Why do you cry, dear child? You are supposed to be happy. Your dreams, it has finally been fulfilled. “

” It is not that, mother. I cry because I feel that my destiny to be like Great great-grandmother will be shattered.

I love him so much, mother, and despite how hard I try to take him off my mind, he is still there. I can always feel him, his presence is always with me.

Each night I close my eyes, I dreamt of him… with me. Almost half of my life, I have always wanted to have him all alone to myself.

But why, mother, why do I feel like accepting him is a mistake? Why do I feel like my dream to become great will be withhold if I accept his proposal?

Is it fair for me to say no and move with Great great-grandmother’s legacy? Or am I to… Oh, I am confused with my choice. I don’t know, maybe I do not deserve anything. “

” Do not say that, Enya. You still have a lot hope to live for. First, for the Young Lord Rodriguez. He has always been your dream to come, and now he has, why must you reject it?”

” If I have to say a ‘yes’ to him, then, what will my fate be? I will have to be by his side, I will have to assist him in his reign.

I will have to give birth to his children, and all this will only stand as a hindrance to Great great-grandmother’s legacy. I don’t know. ” She wept, dropping her face on her mother’s laps. ” I don’t know. “

” Dear child, it pains me to see you cry. I have always wished for your happiness, to see your are not a spinster anymore.

I so much embraced Lord Rodriguez’s proclamation because it has been my hope for you to be a mother just like I am.

Though I also want the best for your sisters, but yours was most especially. You do not have to regret this, Enya, do not let this great opportunity slide away from us… from you. “

” What about my sisters? ” She asked. ” What do you think they will say of me? They will think I had only gone behind to make the Young Lord pick Interest in me.

Mother you saw how much I tried. You saw how desperate I wanted him but I couldn’t. So, I quited the moment you showed me why I have to move on. All these I did for peace.

I never knew… I never thought I would end up being chosen. I do not wish for this to happen… ” She sniffed. ” They will surely hate me. I know it. “

” Don’t say that, why would your sisters think bad of you? After all, they are aware of your renouncement.”

” I don’t know, but that is a feeling I must believe. ” She sniffed hard again, rubbing her cheeks with the back of her palm. ” Do you think I can make a good queen for him?” She asked, raising her face to her mother.

” Do you think it is I who deserves his love the most?”

” Of course, I do. You are his destiny bride, the very one we all least expected. “

There was a knock on the door, ” Who is that? ” Lady Moreen asked.

” It is I, Georgie.” Said Enya’s maid.

” What is it, Georgie? ” She asked again.

” His Highness wishes to see Lady Enya.” She answered.

” Go, tell him I am a lot busy. ” Enya said to her.

” I will do as you have said. ” She had already turned to leave when Lady Moreen’s voice halted her.

” No, she will go.”

” No, mother, I can not go looking this way. I am ashamed to stand before him with a teary eyes. ” She refused.

” Then I insist you must go. Whether or not you approach him with a teary eyes, he will understand the joy you have for him. “

” Mother… “

” I will help you with some makeup, then you must go see him, understood? “

Enya sighed, her mother will never listen to her. And worst still, she wasn’t helping matters at all.

” You look beautiful.” Lady Moreen said, Enya rolled her eyes.

” I don’t think you understand.” She said in a whisper.

” I do. Now get going, don’t keep the Young Lord waiting. ” She held her hands as they walked to the door. ” Smile for me. “

” Mother…”

” Do it.”

She sighed, frustrated, focusing her to smile. ” Good, now go.”

She went left the room, ” Lead the way.” Georgie bowed, turning to leave.

They walked passed the hallway up to the third corridor. There, Lord Rodriguez stood staring up to the sky. The reflection of the moonlight was perfect, the wind blew softly against the skin.

Georgie had left, and Enya stood from behind, watching the man she once loved. The first who had made her do the unspeakable.

He had a good structure. His body speaks of greatness and the way he talks and walk all speak of authority. He was a fine definition of a great king.

Because of him, her heart yelled. Her stomach grumbled for wants and pleasures. Ones she had thought she would never have.

Even till now, she still thinks this is all a dream. Maybe one of those dreams which looked real but ended up being like any other dream.

She walked close to him, standing by his side. ” You sent for me.”

He turned to look at her. ” Of course, I did.” She bowed her head to him. ” I was wondering what this night would yeiled for us if we have to spend it on learning more about each other. “

She nod her head.

” My mother once told me the greatest achievement of a man was his family. I never believed her, I always thought a man’s greatest was ruling his kingdom and winning their hearts.

But I was wrong. A king can never be great with all those. His greatness comes with great family. ” Enya’s head has been staring at nowhere.

” I do not want you to feel uncomfortable with me. ” Those words sank into her heart, she slowly moved her eyes to him.

He was staring at her too. ” I want to be the only one you wish to have. I want my presence to be the safest thing in your life. I knew chosing you wasn’t a mistake, and I do not regret my decision.

Be with me, My Lady, and let us start our lives afresh with each other. I will protect you with all my life, and I will do what ever it takes to keep you safe even if it involves my life.

You will never be alone. I promise. ” Those tears she had tried to hide ended up falling out again. This time, she realized she cannot do without him.

It was clear and obvious that it was truly him in her dream. The one her heart still yells for day and night.

This time, it wasn’t her obsession speaking, rather it was her love… for him and him alone.

” Why…? Why have you chosen me amongst every other women? I am not worthy of your love. But why… is it I you have chosen? “

He held her cheek, ” That is a question I keep asking myself, but then I found out, it was my heart desiring for you. I can never question my heart for whoever it chooses, I only follow it. “

« For you have brought me into your Land to be your own, Therefore, I shall mean no man but you. »

Arwen sat in the library with her favourite book on the desk. She was glaring through the writings but her mind wasn’t in what she was reading.

She was thinking through what Anna said the previous day. She was even scared despite Anna telling her that her plans weren’t for her.

She was scared to exposed it out. She wasn’t aware of what the plan may be, she wouldn’t love to jump into conclusion.

” Sister Enya, you have to go. Please, just leave Pendamour for good. ” She mumbled to herself.

” Whatever Anna is up to, you don’t deserve it. No, Anna… “
