Episode 24
“Pl…Please, I…I don’t want any trouble” I said fearfully, still looking at him.
“You can’t say no to me Alyssa. No one can” he told me and my jaws dropped.
Why in the name of the heavens did I enter this car?
“But I’m…I’m not interested. Please, let me go” I pleaded.
He turned away from me and faced the windscreen. Then he pressed a button and I think the car doors unlocked.
“Get out” he said in a hard voice, not looking at me.
Anger was clearly written on his face.
I stared at him for a short while and quickly opened the door, getting off immediately.
Even before I’d close the door, he took off on a high speed that made me startled.
I placed my hand on my chest, breathing heavily. That was such a lucky escape.
Well, I guess I’ve learnt my lesson now.
I looked around and wondered where I was. There were no cabs driving by.
Now it has just gotten worst.
I started walking forward hoping it’d take me home.
Alexa’s Pov:
Oh, my! Today’s my happiest day on earth because today, I’m going to be the first girl to ever go out on a date with Mico.
I sat at the balcony in the house with my two best friends – Jeenly and Aj – while a lady polished my nails for me.
“You’re so lucky, alexa” Aj said and I smiled. .
“I can’t believe Mico actually asked you out on a date.”
“I wonder what he’s going to tell you” Jeenly also said and my face turned red.
“What else is he going to say? Do you think he wants to preach to her?” Aj asked and we all laughed. .
“I really can’t wait, girls” I said.
“Mico’s such a darling. I can’t believe he chosed me”.
I turned to the nail polisher.
“Please, hurry up with the nails. I need to go for shopping. I need to be on my best” I told her.
“Yes ma’am” she replied with a nod.
Mico’s Pov:
You seriously won’t believe where I’m standing right now. If I tell you, you won’t believe it.
It’s Alyssa’s gate!
Jesus!
Was I charmed or something? I think I’m going crazy.
You won’t believe it if I tell you I’ve been restless since I saw Alyssa going into Jeremy’s car. I’ve been so uneasy and kept thinking about it.
I kind of felt jealous and angry and kept wondering why she had gone along with him.
I wanted to find out.
I knocked again on the gate and that was when she opened up. .
“Oh, Nigel; it’s you!” she said excitedly and I kind of wondered why she was excited seeing me.
Well, I’m her friend, right?
‘Hi” I said with a wave and she made way for me to go in.
“I was about calling you to come Over Nigel. You won’t believe what I’m about to show you” she told me as she held my hand and took me into the house and right there in the sitting room, I saw the washing machine.
“Surprise!” She said in a blaring voice and I had to close my eyes at that moment before shed make me go deaf.
Surprise indeed.
“Oh, a washing machine” I stated, trying to act surprised as well.
“Yes, Nigel. I just returned home from school yearsterday and found it here. I still don’t know who sent it”.

“But…you accepted it?’ I asked.
“Of course, I did. Are you expecting me to just reject it or something?
“Although, I’m curious who the secret helper is but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t use it. At least now, it makes my work so much easier…”
She went on talking and I just continued itching my ears. .my big problem at that moment was how to bring up the question:
“Why were you with Jeremy?” But I don’t know how to bring it up.
She’s definitely going to get suspicious if I asked.
“But come to think of it, Nigel; since I met you, a lot of good things have been happening to me” she said.
“First, it was a free admission into Mico High; secondly, Mico apologised to me; thirdly, I got a free registration into the young miss beauty contest, fourthly, I got a brand new phone and now, I’ve also gotten a washing machine”
She paused and looked at me.
“Tell me, Nigel; why did all these happen immediately I met you?” She asked, placing one if her hands at akimbo.
And what is she thinking?
“I…I” I looked for what to say but couldn’t find any. Is she trying to get suspicious or something?
“You know what? I think you’re just blessed with having good luck. I heard that’s how some people are. They tend to bring good luck to those around them.
“So, for that, I want you to be my best friend, Nigel. So best friend forever?”
She paused and brought out her hand for a handshake and I smiled and collected it
“BFF” she said.
“BFF” I repeated and we laughed
Then we stopped laughing and our eyes met; like, we were just staring into each other’s eyes for no reason.
And guess what? We were still holding hands.
Then just as if someone had touched both of us, we broke the hold immediately and she itched her head.
‘Uhm. ..I’ll be right back” she said and left.
Okay; that was weird.
I smiled and took a seat. Why am I even smiling?
I checked the time and it was few minutes to five. I needed to hurry up for my date with Alexa.
