TRUTH AND LIES
(Mico and Jeremy in a challenge)
Episode 28
I was scared.
The judge had delayed in telling me if I was correct or not and it increased my anxiety.
I noticed the woman looked confused and cross checked a book with the two judges beside her before looking up at me.
Oh, goodness; is something wrong?
“Your answer is…”
“Your answer is correct” she said and I held my chest and heaved a very big sigh of relief.
Oh goodness. I can’t believe I almost had an heart attack.
The judges smiled at me and I bowed and returned to my seat and Alexa glared at me as I did.
Whatever.
I turned to where Mico was seated and noticed he was smiling at me. But he quickly bent his head the moment he noticed I was staring at him.
Oh my God; my head. It seems I had really impressed Mico.
I bent my head and blushed as I felt so lucky.
Then not long after, the man who had been acting as the ‘mc’ came up again with a list he collected from the judges.
He called on us the contestants to come out and stand on a line and we all did.
Some of the contestants who knew they had already been disqualified were already brooding.
“So” the man said, looking at the list .
“We’ve come to the end of today’s competition and so far, three people have been disqualified
“Celine Arquaz, Ivy Maccaroni, Chloe Diego, I’m sorry but your journey ends here” he announced and a sad gasp ran across the students.
The three ladies walked out immediately, seething with anger.
The students started clapping for the rest of us and I was overwhelmed with joy. My head was swelling and I feared it might explode at any moment.
Now, it was just seven of us left in the contest and I wandered who was going to go next.
Could it be me?
Mico’s Pov:
I was so impressed by Alyssa’s performance. I knew she could do it. She’s such a braniac.
I really hope she defeats Alexa. I want her to.
That Alexa is such a bitch. the first lady to ever lay her filthy hands on me.
The only thing stopping me from throwing her out of the school is the fact that her dad and mine are close friends and daddy would definitely demand for a reason before having her expelled.
Gosh! Only the bare sight of her irritates me. I hate her with passion and I’ll make her pay for it.
Today was Friday, so, it was time for sports. I don’t regularly participate in sports but only did whenever I was interested.
My focus was on basketball and I was the leader of the school’s basketball team.
So today, we decided to do a little practice. But I wasn’t playing with them; I just stood by, coaching them.
A lot of students were hanging around, just watching and taking pictures of me.
Well yeah, I get a lot of that often.
“Always be ready Ethan” I said to a player after he missed a goal, being confused by an opponent.
I continued coaching them but after some time, the fun moment was ruined by the entrance of an unwanted enterer – Jeremy.
Gosh: I hate this guy
“Hey Mico” he called with a snigger as he walked up to where I was.
All the players stopped playing and focused on us.
“Still practicing huh?” He asked and I scoffed.
“I don’t need practice anymore. I’m already perfect” I told him and he chuckled.
“Wow!” He exclaimed. “That sounds quite amazing. But sorry to ask; were you actually perfect when I defeated you in that basketball competition? Or you just became perfect recently?” He asked.
I fisted my hand as anger ran through me.
“I’m always perfect Jeremy; you just never noticed” I replied and he smiled.
“Wow wow wow! That sounds really serious” he said.
“Well, since you’ve become this perfect, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d love to learn some of your tactics.
So are you in?”
I scoffed and looked at him.
“Are you trying to challenge me?” I asked, drawing closer to him.
“Well if you’d want to call it that, no problem” he replied.
I looked around and large number of students had filled the hall. I still can’t understand how the information had gotten to them so quickly.
I looked back at Jeremy and he was smiling at me.
“Come on Mico; first player to score a goal”he said with a smirk.
Does he really want to challenge me?.
Well, then; so be it
Alyssa’s Pov:
I came out of the school gym, sweating profusely after having a stressful time in there .
I think I needed a shower.
I kept cleaning my face and neck with my napkin as I walked out to where there were many students.
But surprisingly, most of the students started running out in one direction.
A girl beside me who was knotting her shoes also looked around in surprise and just then, a lady – who was probably her friend – ran up to her panting.
“Monica, come on; what re you doing here?” She asked and the lady knotting her shoes loomed at her with confusion.
“What’s going on?” She asked.
“Haven’t you heard? Mico and Jeremy are in a challenge. They are in the basketball court and the whole school is there”.
“Whaaat?” The other lady exclaimed and they both held hands and ran out together.
Wait; did I just hear correctly that Mico and Jeremy were in a challenge?
Whaaaaaat!
I took off immediately, running to the basketball court and there I found Mico and Jeremy in the middle of the court with a referee talking to them, probably warming them up.
Oh, my goodness! They were really having a challenge!
“They’re challenging for the first player to score a goal” a lady beside me said to her friends and I gasped
Oh my Mico! Why’s Jeremy challenging him?
I looked around and the entire court was filled with students. Some were even taking pictures and videos with their phones.
This game is definitely going to go viral.
Oh, God; what if Mico loses?”
