Episode 7
By Amah’s Heart.
“You have been making fun of me and telling me lies… you don’t really love me like you claim…. If you really do… please tell me the real secret of your power. What makes you so strong and what can subdue your strength…
Samson replied “if I’m tied up with a brand new ropes that has never been used before…I will become as weak as any one else.
After getting this information from Samson she allowed him to sleep one night and tied him up securely.
Some of the Philistines ruler were hiding in the inner rooms waiting for Delilah to summon them.
Delilah decided to test Samson first before summoning the men. She wanted to be sure that he was indeed powerless so she screamed to his ear.
“Samson, the Philistines have come to capture you…
Samson quickly got up and snapped the rope off from his arm and it fell into pieces.
Delilah was angry that Samson lied to her again.
” I thought you loved me, I thought you cared about me but I can see that I don’t matter to you. You kept lying to my face and making fun of me. Why have you refused to tell me the secret to your power? This was my only request yet you won’t grant it and you still claim to love me… that is so unfair Samson…
Delilah pretend to be sober.
Samson tries to calm her down and he later said to her.
“If you weave the seven braids of my hair into the fabric on your loom and tighten it with the loom shuttle, I would become as weak as anyone else…
While he slept, Delilah wove the seven braids of his hair into a fabric. Then she tightens it with a loom shuttle.
And again she cried out ” Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you”
Samson woke up, pulled back the loom shuttle, and yanked his hair away from the loom and the fabric.
Delilah was furious with him.
“How can you still claim to love me when you refused to share your secrets with me? You kept on making fun of me and taking delight in it. You have refused to tell me what makes you so strong or how you can be overpowered. Is quite obvious that you never loved me…
The Philistines men gave up coming to hide in Delilah’s inner room.
They were tired after Samson refused to tell Delilah the real secret behind his strength so that they can capture him through that.
Delilah tormented Samson on each passing day with the same question.
She fuss and kept nagging. She refused to let Samson be at peace.
With every passing day she continues to torture Samson with her nagging.
Samson was sick to death with Delilah’s constant nagging.
Finally, Samson shared his true secret with her.
“My hair has never been cut ever since I was born…”
He confessed.
…I was dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. My strength lies within my hair…if my head is shaved my strength will leave me and I will become as weak as anyone else.
Delilah smiled after hearing him speak because she knew that Samson has spoken the real source of his strength.
Delilah sent message to the Philistines rulers
“Come back this one time…I won’t disappoint again. Come with the money you all promised me. Samson has finally told me the secret to his strength. He will be thrown to your hands as a prey soon…
So the Philistines rulers returned back with the money in their hands, hoping that Delilah won’t disappoint.
Delilah lured Samson to sleep with his head on her lap.
While Samson was in a deep sleep, Delilah called in a man to carefully shave off the seven locks of his hair.
In this way she began to bring him down.
As Samson’s hair was been shaved, his strength left him.
He became weak. Delilah knew she has finally succeeded and just as usual she shouted out just to see how Samson will react.
“Samson, the Philistines has come to capture you!
When he woke up, he thought to himself “I will do as before and shake myself free” but he didn’t realize that the Lord has left him.
Samson was very weak and fell back to the bed.
His strength was gone like the wind.
So the Philistines rushed in and captured him.
They tortured him and gouged out his eyes and he became blind.
They took him to Gaza, where he was bound with bronze chains and forced to grind grain in prison.
But while in prison, his hair began to grow back. His strength was gradually returning but none of the Philistines knew of this.
