CHAPTER 39
Emperor angrily stepped out of the elevator still pocketing his hands.
” You can go ahead with the elevator. I’ll use the stairs.” He told her and Mitchell stepped out as well.
Emperor raised a concerned brows at her.
” I’ll just use the stairs too. My feet feels energetic” She said, pursing up her lips in a trickish way to get him annoyed.
” You are just so…” He bit his lips and stopped himself from talking rashly.
He stared at her in an highly irritated way and he thought of so many things to do to her right then, before he started to walk away.
He didn’t want to get pissed up with her or else she could end up in the hospital just like May.
As they moved out slowly, the two wheels didn’t talk to eachother at all or even exchanged glances.
They remained as ice, simply crowded with their own thought.
While taking a turn, Emperor collided with ray who was earlier panicking by the raw expression on his face.
” There’s a big problem.” Ray said, looking like he just got out of the rain.
” A problem?. What sort?” Emperor asked and Mitchell came to join the crew as well.
” May’s conditions is quite disturbing. The doctor said she has Hypoxic brain injury.” He said and the other two wheels got stiffed for a while.
HYPOXIC!.
Emperor’s head wanted to burst by the huge word.
” Wait…Are you for real?.. Is it something serious?” Emperor asked with wide eyes and Mitchell bit her lips curiously waiting for an endless reply.
” I overheard Iiam speaking with the doctor and I heard him say its not something fatal. But I’m still scared about the other outcomes.” Ray said and Emperor softly sighed, throwing back his head.
Mitchell stepped forward and held his necktie, dragging it hardly.
” You are in so much trouble, Ray. If Liam finds out you are behind this, I swear you are so dead!” Mitchell scoffed and stepped out of their midst.
Emperor watched her retreating backs before he turned to look at Ray. He had put on a very displeased, disappointing look on his face.
” So..You are behind May’s predicament and you kept mute all this while?” Emperor asked and Ray fell his head, sighing roughly.
” I didn’t realise the bad I was doing until she slumped to the ground at that moment.” He said and raised his head.
” I did it out of my detest for Liam.” He said and Emperor’s gaze tightened, crushing Ray’s face inwardly.
” This makes me want to hate you so much, Ray. You know I love May and She wasn’t our target. Liam was!” Emperor raised his voice.
” I know that i made a big mistake. i was wrong!. It’s too late now, I can’t change my doings!” He said and Emperor scoffed at him.
” Goodluck to you. Just Pray nothing happens to her.” He said and left him alone.

Liam slowly opened the door into May’s ward. He peeked in and saw that the angel was fast asleep.
He gave a heavy sigh as he approached the bed before leaning down and palming the bed.
She was sleeping peacefully, using one of her arms to block the light from entering her face.
Her hair was beautifully scattered on the hospital blue mattress like a fine groomed flower.
” Sweetheart..” He called and gently sank on the duvet next to her.
He realised that that was the first time he called her by a pet name and it sounded quite amusing in his lips.
He stared at her for a long while and began to imprint in his head, her first impressions by the time she wakes up.
He remembered what the doctor had told him, that she would be a little forgetful and silly and afraid.
He still didn’t understand what the doc meant by his words and he was scared of waking May up to avoid being too surprised.
He slowly took off her hand from her face and he placed it on the bed.
May began to move her body on the bed disturbingly. She blinked twice before opening her big eyes.
Liam’s face was the first thing she saw.
” May” Liam said, adjusting close to her. He gulped in deeply and took her palm in his, awaiting her first response.
May’s forehead creased up as she stared at him. She didn’t know why, but his face was familiar and strange to her at the same time.
She rubbed her dry eyes cutely and looked around the room. Liam kept staring at intently, watching her every move.
” Why am I here?” She asked.
” This is a hospital.” He said calmly. May sat up, moving back fearfully.
” So?. Why are you here with me in the hospital…all alone?” She asked, creasing her brows.
” You drowned. But I’m so glad that you are alright now baby” He said, moving closer to her face.
” Stop!. Don’t come close” She palmed his lips and Liam sat up, moving away from her.
” What’s wrong?” He asked calmly.
” Did you say I got Drowned?. I got drowned?!” She gasped, palming her cheeks as her eyes widened the more.
” Yes you got__”
” Oh no!. I’m scared!” She said, covering her face with a pillow.
” You need to calm down May and stop being very $illy”
” Aren’t you the doctor. Why couldn’t you save me. Why did you allow me to get drowned!” She yelled,
Liam pinned her stubborn fist on the bed and make her focus on him. His eyes became dark and fierce and May could only blink.
” I am not the doctor. Okay?. Don’t get me mixed up or I might get upset!” Liam said, creasing his brows.
” Then who’s the doctor!. If you are not the doctor, what are you doing here, huh?!” She said, pouting her lips.
Liam smiled sweetly, cornering his lip to a side. He knew this was part of the trauma May would need to face.
He decided to go easy on her or else he would end up yelling on her face till she start to sob.
” I’m Liam…Cole. Your good husband.” He smiled and May blinked.
” Liam? My husband?. When did I get married!” She said.
Liam shut his eyes and breathed in softly. He knew this was going to be harder than he thought.
She was acting too $illy for him and he regarded it as ‘annoying’.
” Okay fine. What are few things you can remember or recognise?” He asked and May fearfully looked around.
” I can’t recognise or remember anything.” She said.
” Even your name?” He asked.
” You just called me May. Could that I’ve been my name?” She asked and Liam palmed his face horribly. He would need to start from scratch.
” Come..” He gestured slowly.
” Stay away from me!. Someone help!. Stay away!” She yelled sobbing, hugging tight to the pillow.
” I swear I won’t hurt you baby, Trust me.”
” Don’t come close and I believe you won’t hurt me that way.” She said and Liam sighed tiredly.
He was getting fed up with this hypoxic trauma stuff that he wanted to badly sob like a baby.
If this is how it felt for your partner to deny you all of a sudden, then it was the worst painful feeling ever.
The door opened and Mitchell walked in.
” Hey Liam.” She waved. Emperor along with Ray followed behind.
Ray stood by the door nervously while the other two walked in fully.
Liam stood on his feet. He accessed the trio before retreating towards them.
He anger fever jumped back into his body in an instant.
” As you can see, May is very sick. I still haven’t figured out how she got drowned. Was there a pool in your house which I didn’t notice?” Liam asked Mitchell.
” A..a pool?…Um..It’s…Um..” She scratched below her hair nervously, staring at Ray.
She began to act weirdly and Liam could see her hyping up, he kept staring at her waiting for answers.
” Am I talking to deaf animal here!” Liam yelled, his veins popping out on his neck skin.
” Ray?” Mitchell questioned and Liam raised his brows,slightly confused.
” Ray?. What’s up with Ray?. How does that answer my question! I left you incharge of May and I returned to hear something else.” Liam said.
” What she meant was that I was behind the mischief.” Emperor suddenly stepped forward and Liam snapped his head at him.
” You?!. Don’t you dare tell me you were behind everything?!” Liam yelled and Mitchell and Ray both looked at Emperor.
” Yes. I made it part of my plan…to drown her.” Emperor said, looking at Liam straight in the eye.
” No. I..I.. was behind it.” Ray chipped in and Emperor glared at Ray, silently telling him to keep shut.
” Who’s behind this mischief, You or your stupid boss!” Liam growled and Ray looked at Emperor again feeling slightly confused.
Emperor stared back at him, giving him a timing gaze.
” Yes. It was…Emperor.” He said and his head sadly fell.
Liam glared at Emperor.
” You Good for nothing!” Liam growled and slammed his back to the wall and the wall almost came crashing.
” You almost klled my wife and now she’s left to suffer an awful trauma. She can’t even remember me anymore!” He yelled.
Liam gr.abbed his neck with both palm, tightening them in his strong fist and pinning them to the wall.
” Do you know she worth a lot to me. Why can’t you just let her be. She’s mine. Read my lips Emperor, For the last time, May is mine. She belongs to me. Find yours!!”
” I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt her.” Emperor said coughing badly. He started to bIeed from the corner of his lip.
Ray stared at Mitchell who was palming her lips in disbelief. She couldn’t watch this hrrible scene.
She wanted to go stop Liam. But she was scared that she might be next to go down by the throat.
She could only watch in vain and hope Emperor doesn’t d!e.
Liam $trangled him harder causing Emperor veins to pop around his neck and head and he started to run out of oxygen.
” I just want you to d!e a painful de.ath. I think this will do” Liam groaned, suffocating Emperor by every inch.
” Please…” Emperor begged, moving his body uncomfortably.
May was watching all that was happening. She was feeling bad for this Emperor guy.
She quickly bounced out of the bed and grabbed Liam’s arm.
” Stop. Stop!. Don’t kll him. What are you, A serial kller?!!!” May yelled and Liam dropped his hands glaring at her.
” Step aside, May. I need to kll him right here, right now!” Liam said breathlessly.
May held his two arms, looking up at him.
” No. No..You mustn’t kll him” She shaked her heads. ” Look. He’s dying painfully. Why Do you want to kll such a good soul. He didn’t even hurt you” May said and Liam glared at Emperor.
” You don’t understand May. He’s behind your predicament. He’s the reason you are in the hospital!” Liam gritted his teeth painfully.
” But look. I’m fine now. I’m perfectly fine. That is a past now. You’ve done enough to him.” May said worriedly.
” Please. Listen to her..” Emperor said and out of anger, Liam took his neck again and started to strangle him there.
May quickly turned and hugged his back.
” Please don’t hurt him. Stop!. You guys should stop him.” May said, wetting her cheeks.
The nurses rushed in and Mitchell and Ray all joined in to take Liam away from Emperor.
