AMAZON’S MANSION
The house was eerily quiet, as if there was nobody inside. Diego stared up at the ceiling, a constant smile on his face. He couldn’t get Kim out of his head, and even the memory of her funny expression earlier made him chuckle.
His phone beeped, snapping him out of his thoughts.
“We need to talk… about Kim. See me when you’re done,” the message read.
“Who does she think she is, ordering me around?” he muttered as he read the message from Verna.
CLASHING LOVE : CHAPTER 11-20
VERNA’S ROOM
Diego walked towards Verna’s room with his hands in his pockets. He was about to knock when he noticed that the door was slightly open.
He couldn’t resist taking a peek.
Verna was sitting in front of the mirror, applying lotion to her skin. She had just finished taking a bath, dressed in a thin, short nightwear that revealed some skin. She sensually rubbed lotion onto her leg, as if she knew he was watching through the slightly open door. Verna’s eyes caught him in the mirror, and she smiled to herself. It seemed she had deliberately left the door open for this very reason.
Satisfied, she pretended not to see him and stood up, letting one of the spaghetti straps of her nightwear fall down her shoulder, revealing her cleavage. Diego’s eyes widened, and he quickly averted his gaze. He made a move to leave, but Verna’s voice stopped him.
“You’re here,” he heard her say, and he looked back to see her smiling at him. She didn’t even attempt to cover her bbs.
He cleared his throat and entered the room, averting his gaze from her exposed bbs.
“I’ll come back when you’re finished,” he said without looking at her.
“Come in…I’m done,” she smiled, finally adjusting the strap back up. Diego cleared his throat and entered the room.
“Have a seat,” she offered, and he sat on the bed.
“What do you want?” he asked plainly.
“You promised to do anything I want, so why are you changing your mind?” she questioned, taking a seat beside him.
“I never promised you to dictate my life for me.”
“Why did you suddenly become distant? Has your love diminished now that you have a crush?”
“Verna,” he called, and she sighed.
“You know… nobody cares about me, and I don’t care about anyone either. But then… you told me I have you. You told me you’ll always be there for me. Did you forget I’m here only because of you? If it weren’t for you, I would have run away a long time ago, Diego. But now you’re turning your back on me too, and I don’t know what to do.”
“Verna, listen… I can never turn my back on you. My promise to always be by your side won’t change either. But you have to understand, you can’t live my life for me. I get to make decisions about my own life,” he said loftily, staring at her.
“I don’t like her… can’t you choose someone else? You didn’t like her before either… why the sudden change?”
“I never disliked her… I only stayed away because of you.”
“Then continue to.”
“No… I don’t think I can any longer.”
“Why? Because she’s pretty now? You told me I’m the only pretty lady in your life. You said I’ll be the only lady who has the right to stay close to you. How can you change your mind so easily?”
“You’re my sister, Verna… she’s different.”
“Sister?” she scoffed.
“We aren’t even blood-related,” she said, and he remained quiet.
“When Dad and Aunt Lissa were leaving, I promised them to look after you.”
“Look… you still call her Aunt Lissa. That means you haven’t acknowledged her as your mother. Diego, your Dad and my Mom have been married for two months now, and you still couldn’t welcome the idea. That’s why you should have listened to me when I opposed it then.”
“In any way… you’re my sister, and I’ll protect you in any way I can. So let’s not talk about this again, okay? I’m just trying to see how things go for now.”
“Promise me you won’t like her.”
“Verna…” he called, and she hugged him.
“I don’t like any lady close to you…”
“Which explains why I’m not close to any girl until now. You always send them away.”
“I’ll send her away too,” she said, and he sighed.
“You should go to bed… it’s late. And always make sure to lock your door… it’s dangerous if you don’t.”
“But we’re the only ones at home… Mom and Dad have gone on vacation, and we’re the only ones here. How is it dangerous? Or… are you the dangerous one here?” she wiggled her brow.
“You should go to sleep,” he said, attempting to stand up, but she held onto him.
“No… sleep here tonight.”
“Verna…”
“I’m too scared to stay alone, that’s why.”
“Verna…”
“Come on, brother… don’t even try to oppose. I’m not letting you go tonight,” she pushed him onto the bed.
She slept beside him, wrapping one of her legs and arms around him.
“Alright…I will…take your leg off,” he said.
“No way… you’re going to run off. I’ll stay close to you like glue… that way you won’t escape. Pat me, brother,” she requested as he sighed.
Slowly, he brought his palm to her hair and stroked it gently. He knew he shouldn’t be doing this or being too close to her, but he was worried that if he resisted, she might become unstable again.
Verna had always been bipolar.
When she learned about her mother getting remarried to Diego’s father, she went into a frenzy, almost hurting herself. But her mother was even worse, insisting on marrying him. So Diego had no choice but to find a way to calm Verna down. He always stayed by her side and acted kindly, which worked as Verna grew fond of him. He tried to see her only as a sister, but her actions sometimes made it difficult. Nevertheless, he tried to maintain boundaries. Verna had a tendency to be possessive, and Diego was not exempt. That’s why he had no girlfriend in his life, as Verna drove them all away.
Diego didn’t like this, but he didn’t want to worsen the situation, knowing that if he did, Verna might slip into a manic state again, and someone else could get hurt. So he listened to her, but he didn’t think it would work out with Kim, as he seemed interested in her, which Verna clearly disliked.
Verna slipped her hand underneath his shirt and started rubbing his chest. He gasped and quickly removed her hand, but she placed it back there.
“Let’s go to sleep, brother… I’m sleepy,” she muttered as he sighed. Verna smiled to herself, resting her head on his chest as she continued rubbing it.
CLASHING LOVE : CHAPTER 11-20
Eastwood High.
Kimberly walked into the school with confidence. Today, she looked stunning as always. She had adapted to the new version of herself so quickly that the opinions of others didn’t bother her at all. All eyes were on her, with some murmuring indistinctly, but she paid no attention. Some admired and praised her beauty, while others made fun of her for what happened the other day. None of it mattered to her as she walked towards her class. As she was about to enter the classroom, someone suddenly grabbed her phone from her. Her eyes widened as she turned to see the culprit—Jade.
“Hi, Kimmy,” he smirked, twirling the phone in his hand.
“Give that back,” Kimberly growled.
“Come get it,” he sang, winking before running away.
“JADE!!!” she groaned, chasing after him.
“GIVE THAT BACK, YOU JERK!” she shouted at Jade, who kept running and sticking his tongue out, infuriating her further.
“Come, come, little Kimmy,” he teased as he ran.
“I swear I’m going to kill you!” Kim seethed as she continued the chase.
Eventually, Jade ran into an empty classroom. Kimberly stopped and heaved a heavy sigh. She rubbed her sweaty palms together, inhaling and exhaling.
“You made a terrible mistake! You’re dead!” she kicked the door open vigorously and stepped in. As soon as she entered, confetti was thrown at her.
“What…?” She stared at the pairs of eyes staring back at her.
Jade, Onda, Jayden.
“What the heck!”
“Here comes the lady of the day! Yay!” Jade threw more confetti at her.
“Hooo…” Onda added awkwardly.
Jayden stepped forward and placed a garland around her neck.
“What on earth is this?” she questioned.
“Surprise!” Jayden grinned, and Kimberly took a proper look at the room.
A banner boldly displayed the words “FORGIVE ME KIMMIE ??.”
She glanced at the people in the room.
Onda was holding a cake.
“Hi Kiki…” she smiled awkwardly.
Jade wouldn’t stop throwing confetti at her while grinning. She glared at him, and he instantly stopped.
Jayden brought out a lollipop and offered it to her.
“Let’s stop the war and make peace,” he smiled, while she scoffed.
“What a load of nonsense! You’re following me!” She pulled Jayden out of the classroom, gripping his ear.
“Ouch! Ouch!! It hurts, hey!”
“I guess she wasn’t surprised after all,” Jade whispered.
“I told you it wouldn’t work…she must be really angry,” Onda said, feeling downcast.
“Don’t worry too much…I’m sure she’ll come around. First, can I see that?” Jade referred to the cake.
“No way! It’s for Kiki!”
“I know that…I just want to do some experiments on it.”
“Don’t come closer.” Onda moved away from him, but he followed her.
“I’m not giving this to you, so back off…ohh!” She couldn’t complete her statement when she bumped into a desk and fell to the ground, landing her face directly in the cake.
“Oww!” She whined into the cake. Jade couldn’t help but laugh. She raised her head to look at him, and he laughed even more, seeing her face covered in cake. She became even more embarrassed with him laughing at her, so she kept her head down, pouting her lips.
Jade squatted in front of her and lifted up her chin, but as soon as their eyes met, she looked down again. Jade chuckled. He extended his finger to remove the cake from her face and then licked it off.
“Hmm…it’s tasty,” he smiled before standing up. He took out a handkerchief and placed it in her hand. Onda looked at him, but he just smiled before leaving the classroom.
Kim was still pulling Jayden by his ear when Jayden spotted Diego coming with Verna.
“Hey, hey, stop! I’m serious…it’s Diego.”
“Don’t think that’s gonna work on me.”
“I’m serious, seriously!” He pushed her away.
“Hey! You nut job_” She tried to hit him, but he grabbed her hand midway, pulling her closer to him instead.
“Stay still…this is one of your chances to get back at him.”
“Hey, let me go! You think you’ll make him jealous? You of all people?”
“It doesn’t hurt to try…he’s looking at us…stay still,” he said, and she sighed before giving in.
“Loosen up…you feel like a plank of wood,” he teased, and she raised her eyebrows.
“Do you want to die?” She warned, and he snickered. Looking ahead, his eyes met Diego’s, and he smirked at him, hugging Kim tighter.
“Oh my…look at that,” Verna said beside Diego, folding her arms.
“They are just friends…everyone knows that,” Diego replied flatly.
“And they can always be more than that…everyone knows that, brother,” she smirked, while Diego clenched his fists.
