CHAPTER 20
EASTWOOD HIGH.
Onda was on her way to class when she spotted Jade coming towards her. The two stopped upon seeing each other. Jade looked at her, and his gaze darted to her lips. The kiss they shared reappeared in his mind, and he shook his head. Likewise, Onda couldn’t help but clench her fists, replaying what Jade had said in the video the other night.
“Hi… Onda,” he greeted awkwardly before rushing away. Onda breathed out and was about to leave, but Verna appeared out of nowhere, smirking with her hands folded.
“You heard him, right? You should know your place. He isn’t in your league and would never stoop so low to be with someone like you. To him… you’re nothing but trouble,” Verna smirked, while Onda clenched her fists even more. Verna moved closer and whispered in her ear.
“Don’t think I forgot what happened yesterday… I promise to get back at you and that psycho. I’ll destroy both of you completely.”
“HEY!” They suddenly heard a thunderous voice and looked back, only to see Kim marching toward them. Before Verna could react, Kim landed a hot slap on her cheek.
Onda gasped, covering her mouth with her palm.
As if that wasn’t enough, Kim grabbed Verna’s hair, and Verna cried out in pain.
“Let go, you bch!” she spat, holding onto Kim’s hand gripping her hair.
“I warned you not to get close to her ever again! How dare you bvlly her behind my back?!” Kim pushed her to the floor and got on top of her. By now, students had gathered, filming the scene.
Verna managed to grab Kim’s hair as well, and the two started rolling on the floor.
Agnes took out a ¢igarette and lit it. Just then, a bag flew over from the fence. She looked at the bag and heard a groan from behind the fence.
“Ouch!” Jay rubbed his butt as he jumped down from the fence.
He dusted himself off and picked up his bag. As he looked up slowly, he saw Agnes staring back at him.
“Oh! That scared me,” he breathed out.
“You should be scared,” she said.
“It’s just you, so I’m relieved. I almost thought it was a teacher.”
“It must be part of your daily life to jump over the school fence.”
“I don’t usually do this… this morning is just different. Pretend you didn’t see anything.”
“Why should I, when I did see something?”
“If you do, I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything either.”
“What?”
“That thing in your hand,” he pointed to the ¢igarette she was hiding behind her.
“Shoot.”
“Don’t worry… I’m not a tattletale.”
“So what?”
“The choice is yours.”
“Whatever,” she said, rolling her eyes and dropping the ¢igarette, stepping on it.
“I’d love to know more about you.”
“Stay in your lane. I dislike your gender the most.”
“I could change your perspective of us.”
“Why don’t you leave my sight first? That would be a big help to me.”
“You’re feisty.”
“I can be rude too.”
“If you continue with this attitude, you’re going to end up with no one by your side. You’re just like someone I know, Kim.”
“I need no one by my side, and who the hell is Kim?”
“A crazy girl like you…I’m the only one who can handle her, you see. She’s a total nut job,” Jay said, sneering.
“I’ll turn a blind eye to this just this once. Don’t expect me to be nice another day,” she said and started walking away. Jay followed her.
“You’re going to die soon,” he said behind her. She stopped and frowned at him.
“What?”
“Because you smoke…smokers die young, you see…it’s such a pity,” Jay shook his head before leaving.
“What’s wrong with that psycho?” She asked no one in particular.
Kim was still in the lead. Though she had some bruises from Verna, Verna was already halfway unconscious by the time Diego arrived.
“KIM! KIM, STOP!” he howled upon reaching them, pushing her roughly away from Verna.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” he yelled at her before turning to the injured Verna on the floor.
“Are you okay?” he asked, worried, as he carried her in his arms.
“I’m disappointed in you, Kim,” Diego said to Kim before leaving with Verna in his arms.
Kim scoffed, frustration evident as she swept up her hair.

INFIRMARY.
“Are you okay?” Onda asked Kim.
“Of course, I am. What do you expect?”
“Why did you do that?”
“Because she crossed her lane…that vixen.”
“Will you be okay?”
“What?”
“Diego…are you mad at him?”
“Him? I don’t know. Honestly, I feel a little disappointed…just a little.”
“It’s not your fault,” Onda mumbled, head down.
“Don’t say that…it’s not. I’m actually sorry for not being there when you needed me. I promised to protect you, but…she did that to you. You must have been scared.”
“Luckily, I was saved by someone…like you.”
“Who?”
“She’s a new student…and a new friend of mine.”
“Ohh…so you’re making new friends now. I’m proud of you, Dada,” Kim ruffled her hair as she smiled. Just then, the door opened, and Agnes rushed in.
“Onda??” she called, running to her while Onda stood up.
“Agnes.”
“Oh my gosh! Are you okay, dear? Are you hurt? What did that wtch do to you?” Agnes asked, checking her out.
“I’m fine, Agnes…she did nothing. I’m okay.”
“Who is she?” Kim asked as they both turned to her.
“This is Agnes…she helped me the other day. Agnes, this is Kim…my best friend,” Onda introduced.
“Hi Agnes…I’m Kim. I heard you’re a new student?” Kim smiled at her as Agnes faced Onda again.
“I ran here after hearing what happened. I’m glad you’re okay.” Agnes rubbed Onda’s face softly, ignoring Kim.
“I’m fine…thank you, Agnes.” Onda smiled back.
“Hello… Am I invisible?” Kim waves at them.
“Alright… I’m glad to hear that,” Agnes said to Onda, ignoring Kim once again.
Kim scoffs, standing up. She grabs hold of Onda’s hand, pulling her away from Agnes.
“Let’s go, Onda. I suddenly feel uncomfortable here. We should go to class now,” Kim said, glaring at Agnes.
“Agnes, see you later… bye,” Onda bids Agnes goodbye as Kim pulls her out of the infirmary.
Agnes scoffs, watching them leave.
“So she’s Kim,” she mutters.
“Interesting…”

CLASS 1
“You said Kim is your friend, right?” Agnes asked, joining Jade and Jay in their seats.
“So?”
“I’m curious about her.”
“Why are you curious about her? You should be curious about me,” Jay said.
“I already know you’re a loser. Do I have to know more?” Agnes shrugged.
Jade stifles a laugh.
“That’s cruel… you just broke my heart,” Jay said.
“I’m having a slumber party this Friday.”
“Of course, I’d love to attend.”
“Bring her. I want her there.”
“But why? You like her? Wanna get hooked up with her?” Jay teased.
“She isn’t my type… just want to confirm something.”
“Don’t worry… she’ll come along with us,” Jade chipped in.
“I never asked you to come.”
“If I didn’t, then it isn’t complete.”
“Whatever…”
“Just bring her and her friend Onda.”
“Why Onda? She isn’t the party type,” Jade said.
“So she won’t come? If she doesn’t, then you two don’t bother coming,” Agnes pointed at them before leaving.
“Why does she want her there?”
“Why? Is there a reason why she can’t be there?” Jay asked.
“Of course, she’s a party pooper… she shouldn’t be there.”
“Is that the only reason?”
“Then what else?”
“I think you’re just trying to avoid her.”
“Why would I?”
“Probably because you kssed her.”
“I didn’t! It was an accident.”
“Yeah… maybe you should say your girlfriend bullying her is also an accident.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Verna bvllied her, didn’t you know?”
“What?”
“You really didn’t want? Everyone who knows about that… seriously… you know nothing… how pathetic,” Jay shook his head, standing up.
“I better go tell Kim about the party,” he grins before leaving.
“It can’t be because of me, right?” Jade mutters.

CLASS 2
“Kim, wait!” Diego held Kim’s hand, but she whipped it away.
“What do you want from me, Diego?” She glared.
“Look, I’m sorry about earlier… I was angry and_.”
“Okay… accepted. Can I leave now?”
“Wait! You’re coming over for the project later, right?”
“Not sure… I’ve got a sudden headache. I’ll work on my part from home and send it to you through email. Is that all?”
“Kim, I…”
“Then I’ll get going,” she said and started leaving.
“Hey, Kimmy!” Jay, who was approaching her, waves, but Kim just walks by him. Jay wonders what’s wrong but then sees Diego looking down.
His face dissolves in a big smile.
“Don’t tell me it’s a breakup!”

“So soon! I knew this was gonna happen sooner or later. They don’t fit. I better go console her. Kimmy, wait for me,” he runs to her, putting his arms around her shoulders.

Diego arrived home with a solemn expression on his face.
“You’re early,” Verna entered his room, appearing quite happy.
“What happened earlier?” Diego inquired.
“Ask your girlfriend… She suddenly attacked me, though I did nothing to provoke her,” she shrugged.
“You must have done something to make her react like that.”

“I don’t care whether you believe me or not. What’s important now is that my hatred for her has grown even stronger,” she said, while Diego sighed.
Verna moved closer, draping her arms around his neck.
“Don’t be sad, brother… This is just the beginning. Remember, I promised to ruin your relationship with her? I’m planning to do that now. I’ll ensure that you two are never happy together. I’ll destroy her and those crazy witches as well.”

“Enough already… You’re changing into someone else day by day, and I won’t allow that. I’ll protect my relationship with Kim. I won’t let you jeopardize it,” Diego affirmed.
“Protect it well, brother… if you can,” she whispered into his ear.
Withdrawing, she bit her lip and gave him a seductive look before gracefully leaving his room.
