HIDDEN WIFE : CHAPTER 61 – 70
Chapter 64
THIRD PERSON’S pov.
Hours Later – On a Highway – New Orleans
“Lucas?” Mr Baldwin called Lucas from the backseat.
“Yes, sir?”
“Any news from our men yet? Have they find out my wife’s home address?”
Lucas looked through the rearview mirror as he was about overtaking a car in front of them.
“No, sir” he answered Mr Baldwin’s question.
“Dmnit! What’s taking them so long?!”
“I don’t know, sir, they saw her around, but couldn’t find her home address when they started asking about her”
Mr Baldwin let out a low, and deep growl as he clenched his jaw angrily.
“Tell them I’m already in New Orleans, and I want her home address before 3pm tomorrow!” he growled out.
“Yes, sir”
Mr Baldwin threw his head back, and massaged his temples as he was having a slight headache.
“Find a pharmacy near by, and get me some aspirin”
“Yes, sir” Lucas answered.
HIDDEN WIFE : CHAPTER 61 – 70
RACHEL’S pov.
I sighed in relief as I stepped out of my therapist’s office, today’s session is the longest of all the sessions we’ve been having -today’s three hours.
I walked a few meters before arriving at the main road, I sighed tiredly when I saw no cabs in sight, and I couldn’t help but grumble at how hard it’s gonna be getting a cab here.
It would’ve been nice if Asher was still here, he’d have given me a ride back, but he received a call earlier from his secretary that his attention was needed in court, so he rushed off and promised to come pick me up after my session.
But it seems like he isn’t coming anytime soon, and I can’t wait for him because I need to get home and eat something -I can feel my baby’s restlessness and I know it’s because he’s hungry too.
Man, the sun is freaking burning my skin.
I quickly reached for my compact umbrella in my bag, opened it and raised it above my head, shielding myself from the scorching sun.
Maybe I should walk a few distance, and board a cab whenever I see one.
HIDDEN WIFE : CHAPTER 61 – 70
Funk! I was so wrong when I said I might see a cab, because I have been walking several meters and still haven’t seen a cab, it’s as if I’m cvrsed not to travel by cab today.
I was lost in thought, and didn’t watch where I was going, so I bumped into someone. I raised my head to apologize, but quickly faced down when I saw who I had bumped into.
‘Lucas?! What is he doing here?! Don’t tell me Duncan’s trying to acquire a company here. Wait… Duncan’s… doesn’t this mean Duncan is here too?’
“I’m sorry, Miss, I was in a hurry and didn’t watch where I was going” he apologized quickly.
I pulled my umbrella down, making sure my face was completely blocked from his view.
“It’s fine, I wasn’t watching my way too” I told him, making my voice a little bit deeper.
“Thank you, but are you sure you’re ok?”
“Yeah, yeah” I replied, then turned around to leave.
I don’t know what happened, but my umbrella suddenly flew off my grip as if someone just snatched it from me. I lowered my head at once.
There’s a scarf on my shoulder, which I quickly pulled up over my head, reached for my bag and took out my sunglass, and wore it, hoping he won’t recognize me in this disguise.
“That was one strange wind, huh?”
“Hehe” I chuckled nervously. “Yeah” I turned around to go fetch my umbrella, he suddenly grabbed my arm.
“Mrs Baldwin?” he sounded surprised, yet sure.
Oh no, he recognized me.
“No, it’s not me, you’ve got the wrong person” I said.
“It’s not you?” he asked, and that’s when I relayed my words.
¢rap! I just spilled the beans, what should I do? What should I do now?
I looked down at my stomach, baby, forgive your mama but we’ll have to do some exercise to make you smarter.
“Mrs Baldwin, we have been…”
I didn’t wait to listen to him, I took to my heels and ran as fast I could to get away from him, but he chased after me immediately.
“Stop, stop running it’s dangerous for the baby” he shouted as he chased after me.
But I didn’t stop at all, I continued running until I managed to lost him, and dashed into a alley. I ran until I arrive at another road, thankfully there was an oncoming cab, and I quickly stopped it.
“Are you ok, ma’am?” the driver asked when he saw the condition I was in, I guess he’s thinking I’m in labor because I’m breathing hard.
I opened the door and slide in.
“Moria’s estate, please, go, go, go, go!” I urged him.
“Safety first” he gestured at the seatbelt.
“Go, go, please” I said as I quickly fastened my seatbelt.
My eyebrows furrowed together as I looked around me, and realized I left my bag behind. I mentally smacked my head at my carelessness, I closed my head and threw my head back.
And now, I can’t go back, or I’ll be caught.
