HOUSE OF THORNS : EPISODE 1 – 10
HOUSE OF THORNS
Episode 6
Leonard stood at the entrance of his house and watched the Bentley drive off before he walked to the door. He opened the door quietly and was glad that his wife wasn’t anywhere in sight.
For some days now, he’d been coming home very late, to avoid confrontations with his wife. The day she had called him to accuse him of having an affair with his CEO, he had gone home quite early, with the hopes of talking to his wife to see how he could restore peace to his home.
But Vivian had been fully prepared for him that night. And it took all the self control in him to keep himself from hitting her at some point. She was basically making assured accusation and had hit him so many times while he tried so hard to make her see that someone was trying to mess with her head.
“Why don’t you allow me see those incriminating evidences and see if we don’t unmask whoever it is that is trying to ruin our home! “ he had bellowed when he got tired of begging her to calm down.
“Do I look like a child to you? Why the heck do I have to show you the pictures? Don’t you already know who you’re cheating with? Oh! So they must be more than one, right?” she made another turn, and Leonard knew he needed to take a walk.
“Come back here! You cheating and lying b@stard!” she said as she pulled him roughly on his shirt, giving the shirt a bad tear.
Leonard turned around angrily, pulled her hands together in his hand and made to shove her into the next seat, but the scared look on her face tugged at his heart. He released her gently, turned around and walked into the guest room.
He slept in the guest room that night, and the other nights that followed. Running out very early before she woke up, and coming back so late when he was sure she must have gone to bed.
So after the CEO dropped him, he was very happy to see that the sitting room was pitch black, telling him that she had slept.
He was still finding his way out of the sitting room quietly, almost sneaking, when the lights came flooding the sitting room at once.
“Welcome lover boy. You still had to force your way home after all the love and care you got in the staff canteen? I need to call her tomorrow to thank her.
She must be very thoughtful to have brought you home after all, don’t you think?” Vivian taunted her husband as she walked closer to him, looking as menacing as she could.
“Baby, can you just stop and think for a moment? Would I be stupid enough to let the CEO bring me home if I have a thing with her? Whoever is feeding you with all these cràps is hell-bent on seeing us fight.
And I hãte how you’re making that someone feel so accomplished by doing his or her bidding” Leonard tried again.
He’d been doing his best to see how he’d have his wife back. Her mother had even called him over to her house to ask what was going on. He was hoping that she’d be able to talk some sense into his wife after she promised to do just that, it was a pity that Vivian even made the troubles a tempo higher. And since then, he had resorted to avoiding her.
“You’re going to school me now, aren’t you? Well, Vivian is wise now. She’s not going to sit and watch you take her for the f?õl forever.
I would have let you keep running to her every morning and coming back whenever you choose, but you chose to bring her to the house, probably to let me know that I can’t do a thing about it, and you see, this is what I’m going to do” she said as she sprung towards him with a knlfe.
Leonard had least expected that she was going to get physical with him while she spoke so calmly, yet looking so angry and approaching him slowly.
He had planned to allow her get so close and then grab her for a kss so sweet, he’d take away whatever negative energy she’d stored up for so long.
He escaped the knlfe st.ab by a hair’s breadth. “What has come over you Vivian? What is wrong with you? Put that knlfe down, would you?” he screamed in shock and fury as she turned around after missing him, charging madly at him again.
Leonard jumped off at the last second and Vivian had a great fall. “Ouch!” she screamed in pain and lay sprawled on the floor writting in pains. She was trying to say something, trying to tell him how much she håted him before she blacked out.
“Vivian! Vivian!!” he screamed several times shivering in fear and uncertainty. He was as confused as afraid, but he needed to get help, and fast.
She wasn’t moving. So with shaky hands, he lifted her off the floor, got to her car as fast as his legs could carry him, and he was pacing on the lobby of the family hospital, a few moments later.
Leonard had called his mother in-law as soon as the ER nurses took his wife from him. And before long, he was narrating every bit of details of what transpired between himself and his wife to her mother, who had arrived the hospital as if she had been at the entrance when he called her.
She was out of breath as she stood there listening to Leonard explain all that had happened that night.
“It’s so sad that Vivy never listens. But why haven’t you been able to find out who’s behind this.
How else can the person be able to know so much if the person isn’t close to you? I know my daughter is over reacting on the information she’s getting, but as her husband, I’ve been expecting you to nip this ev!l at the bud.
You should have been able to get her assist you in finding that instigator” his mother in-law complained.
“I’m sorry Mama, but my wife has been very obstinate. There’s nothing I haven’t done to see how I could get her to calm down enough to help me unravel the mystery behind this instigator, but she’s bent on making our marriage a living hëII.
I run away from my house so early and keep late nights because I’m afraid of my house that has turned to nothing but a house of thorns” Leonard explained.
Mrs. Bradford understood perfectly what he was going through, but she couldn’t help but feel bad about the situation. Her daughter’s life was hanging on the thread as they spoke.
The doctors and nurses kept doing those races they do, thinking they’re saving lives, when they’re actually gradually ki!ling the healthy ones waiting for their unwell relatives.
“I just pray she gets out of this in one piece. I don’t know what I’d do if anything happens to my daughter” she whined. “She’ll be fine mama. I don’t know what would make my wife become so aggressive all of a sudden.
This isn’t the wife I married mama” Leonard cried, looking so pitiful that Mrs. Bradford had to pat him compassionately on the shoulders.
They were still considering what to do about the situation when the doctor walked out of the ER, looking all sullen and miserable. “How’s my daughter? Can I see her?” Mrs. Bradford asked spontaneously.
Leonard had his lips pursed as he tapped his forehead several times, counting how many seconds it’s been since the doctor got out without saying a word, just looking at two of them with a deep frown.
