Just The Beginning ?
Episode forty one
Vee
It’s about ten in the morning and am at the hospital with Maya. She’s still not showing any sign of improvement yet and am not sure how much more of this I can take. I’ve really tried my level best to keep myself together for the past few days but am slowly starting to shatter.
What if she never wakes up?!
” No, no, no Vee, stop it! You have to be positive. She’s is going to wake up, she has to! ” I tell myself pushing the negative thoughts away.
A few minutes later the door is pushed open and Rita walks in.
” Hi vee, ” she says walking towards me.
” Hey. ”
” Why didn’t you wake me up? I could have driven you here and why is your phone off? You got me worried for a minute there. ”
” Am sorry, I didn’t want to disturb your sleep and my phone is dead. I forgot to charge it last night. ”
” Okay…. Anyway, Alex was asking for you. ”
” Why? ” I ask my heart skipping a beat.
” I don’t know but I think it’s about the dinner tomorrow. ”
” Okay, i guess I’ll talk to him later, ” I say my mind going back to what happened last night.
One of the reasons I left the house early today was so that I won’t bump into him.
I panicked last night after I kssed him and stormed out of the sitting room locking myself in the bedroom.
I feel so stupid!
I really don’t know what got into me and right now he must be thinking am a cheap $lut, like he always said I was. But, sincerely speaking , I don’t regret a thing! The feeling of his lips on me and the crazy way he explored my mouth with his tongue made me feel alive in all sought of ways.
He’s surely doing something to me that I can’t comprehend and the crazy thing is that am loving it!
Am sure what Alex said about kssing me was just from the heat of the moment. I mean, we were both kind of lonely and vulnerable and that’s why it happened, right?
Sht! Who am I kidding! Am really falling hard for him.
” Hey.. Vee, ” Rita says snapping me out of my thoughts. ” Did you hear a word I said? Why are you always zoning out on me?”
” Am sorry. What were you saying? ”
” I was telling you that we have to go shopping today.We need to buy you an evening gown that will make you look more gorgeous than you are, ” she says excitedly. ” I want to make sure Alex drops his jaw when he sees you. ”
” First off, it’s only dinner not a wedding and secondly, I don’t have money for a dress right now let alone a gown! ”
” You don’t have to worry about the money. Alex already gave me his credit card. ”
” And you think am going to use your brothers money?! You guys are already doing more than enough for me. ”
” Oh come on Vee, not that again! You know that its important you look your best tomorrow night, especially now that Stacy is coming. We have to show her you are the only Queen here!”
” But am not! You are forgetting that it’s all for show. ”
” It might be, but the rest of my family doesn’t know that, you still have to play your part right. ”
” Urgh!… Can’t you just lend me one of your dresses? We are almost the same size. ”
” Okay…. If that’s what you want. ”
” Thank you.”
We leave the hospital in about an hour and when we get home, Alex is sitted on the couch watching a certain show. ”
Isn’t he supposed to be working?! Oh well, I guess that’s the beauty of being a boss.
” Hi girls, ” he says getting up.
” Hey, ” we both say simultaneously as i walk past him ,making my way to the stairs.
” Vee, wait, ” he says and I stop , spinning to face him.
” Yes, ” I say. Am biting my lower lip nervously, trying to calm but am so dmn nervous.
” I have something for you, ” he says handing me a gift bag.
” For me?! What is it? ”
” Just open it and you’ll find out.”
” Okay…, ” I say taking it from his hands and open it.
Wow! It’s a dark green prom dress that is one shouldered, with a long side slit and matching heels. It’s sensational, but there’s no way am taking it.
” It’s beautiful, but…. ”
” But nothing! We are not arguing about this! ” Alex says looking at me sternly and I don’t dare argue. ” Okay now that we are done with that, let’s talk about tomorrow, Mum said that she’ll send Robin over in the afternoon to get everything ready, before they get here. ”
” That’s good, less work for us, ” Rita says walking over to the stairs and as i turn to follow her, Alex grabs my hand.
” We need to talk about last night. ”
Oh no!
” Uumh…. I say nervously .” Am really sorry about the kss. I don’t know what happened to me, am so sorry, ” I say, looking down but he tilts my chin up making me look at his lovely eyes.
” Don’t ever apologize for that again, ” he says in a husky voice, making my inside tremble. ” It was by far the best kss I ever had and if you didn’t do it, I probably would have. ” He looks deep in my eyes and leans closer to me but suddenly pulls back. ” But… That shouldn’t happen again. ”
Him saying that rips my heart a little, buy hrs right though. It can never happen again!
” Yeah, you are right, ” is all I manage to say as I turn to leave.

“You look…….. I don’t think I have the words,” Rita compliments me as soon as am done getting dressed and I completely agree with her.
The dress looks so good on me that I don’t even recognize myself in the mirror. I look like fucking Cinderella on her way to the ball, especially after Rita applied a little makeup on me.
It fits just right hugging my body in all the right places. I still don’t get how Alex knew my exact size!
The last time I got this dressed up was seven years ago, on my fifteenth birthday. Mum always made sure to go all out when it came to our birthdays.
I really miss her but I have to stop thinking about her before I end up crying.
Rita is wearing an off shoulder, black mini dress with white shiny heels and she looks hot!
We are ready for the dinner and everyone should be here in about an hour.
” Let’s go and see if everything else is ready, ” Rita says taking my hand as we walk out of the room.
“It smells amazing in here , ” I say walking over to the kitchen. Robin is done with the cooking and is now busy in the dinning room. ” You should teach me how to cook all this different types of food, Robin.”
” I can teach you, ” Alex says making me turn to look at him and Dmn! . ” Wow Vee! Don’t you look hot! ” he says with a wink and my face turns red.
” Aww… She’s blushing, Alex you better propose already before Groorge steals her from us, ” Rita says and I glare at her. ” Excuse me, I’ll go help Robin out, ” she says walking over to him.
” Am sorry about her, she can be crazy at times. ” That Alex.
” Tell me about it! ” I say shaking my head. ” Anyway, you look good to. ”
” I know. I always look good, ” he says with a smirk and I just roll my eyes.
This guy needs to get over himself already !
” There are some things we have to talk about before everyone arrives, ” he says walking towards, leaning on he kitchen counter.
” What things?”
” You know we have to act all lovey dovey around them right? I don’t want you looking all surprised when I kss your cheek or your hands from time to time. ”
” As long as you don’t kss me on the lips, we are good. ”
” Why? are my ksses that bad? ”
” I didn’t say that. ”
” Okay… So you like them, huh? ” he says with a smile, wiggling his eyebrows at me.
” I didn’t say that either. ”
” So what are you saying? ” he asks looking confused. ” Do you like my ksses or not? ”
” Does that really matter? And anyway, why are we talking about this, you already said we should never kss again! ”
” You guys kssed?! Rita asks her mouth wide open and am saved when the door bell rings and rush to get it.
” Vee.. Is that you?! George says with a smile, scanning me from head to toe as soon as i open the door.
” Of course it’s me. Aren’t you going to come in? “I ask since he’s still standing outside.
” Dmmn! You look stunning ,” he says walking in his eyes still on me.
” Thank you, ” I say leading the way.
He says his hellos to everyone else as we all chip in and help Robin set the table.
A few minutes later after everything is done, the door bell rings again and I instantly get nervous.
” I’ll get it, ” Rita says walking to the door . Alicia Alex’s mum, is the first to walk in followed by Stacy.
She has a frown on her face when her eyes land on Rita but immediately smiles when she spots me. Stacy is busy glaring at me an evil grin on her face, and I instantly feel uneasy.
Okay now… Let the drama begin!
