Episode Forty three

Vee is looking at me, clearly shocked and confused. Am sure she’s waiting for me to say something, but I don’t know what to say. It never crossed my mind that Stacy would ask for this or that mum would ever support her.
” Good!” That’s Stacy. Well both take her to a doctor friend of mine so they won’t fake the results, ” she continues and at the corner of my eyes, I see George smiling.
Who’s side is this guy’s on here?!
He seem to be enjoying the drama but not for long.
” Vee is not having any tests done, ” I say firmly, holding her hand. She looks kind of pale and I hate myself for putting her through this.
” Your mum already made her decision Alex. Am sorry but you have no say in this. ”
” I have no say? Are you kidding me? !” We are talking about my girlfriend and unborn baby! ” I say switching my gaze to mum. ” Mum, how can you do this to Vee? She’s going through enough already with the pregnancy and her sisters illness. Do you want her to loose the baby or something? ”
” Why would you ask that? You know I want a grandchild more than anything! ”
” Then, why are you doing this? You’ve just showed me how little trust you have in me. Instead you trust someone who cheated on me and deceived you, Unbelievable! ”
” Why are you so scared? Are you afraid the truth will come out? ” Stacy asks with raised eyebrows, looking from me to Vee.
” Stop this already Stacy! We came here for my wife’s birthday and you are ruining everything, ” Dad says.
” I wont stop until the truth comes out. Can’t you see how scared they are? This is evident enough that they are hiding something! I mean, even the blubber mouth Ava has nothing to say, ” Stacy says and Ava gives her a death glare, holding a fork.
” Am not scared. If I have to take a pregnancy test, to prove my loyalty to my future mother in law, then I’ll gladly do it, ” Vee says and I give her a what the he..ll look.
What is she doing? Am trying to get us out of a hole but she’s digging us deeper!
” You don’t have to prove anything to me Violet. Am sorry I even agreed to that, I really don’t know what got into me, ” Mum says apologetically and am shocked and relieved at the same time.
Wow! Whatever vee did definitely worked!
” What?! Mum you can’t do this to me!” Stacy says in rage.
” Am sorry but I won’t add to Vees stress just to make you happy, and enough is enough! Let’s just have dinner like the happy family we are, ” Mum says .
” Happy Family?! Why don’t we call your sister and her son, so she can add to the families happiness, mum, ” Stacy says with a grin and mum looses all colour on her face.
What’s she doing?!
” Stop it Stacy! What do you think you are doing? ” That’s Dad.
” Nothing much Dad, just telling the truth. It’s about time we stopped with all the lies. Don’t you think? ”
” Look who’s talking? ” Ava say glaring at her. ” Aren’t you supposed to be encouraging lies, you know, since you are the devils flesh and blood? ”
” Shut up! ”
” No, you shut up Stacy! I think it’s time you left my house, ” I say getting up, ready to throw her out.
” No wait….I want to know what she’s talking about, ” mum says.
” She talking absolute nonsense. I mean we all know you don’t have a sister, ” Ava says.
” Stay out of this Ava, ” Mum say calmly, her eyes on Stacy. ” How did you know that I have a sister?”
” Excuse me, ” Vee says getting up. I can’t read her expression but am sure all this is freaking her out.
” Where are you going Violet,” mum asks.
” Uumh….i don’t think I should be here, ” Vee says nervously, biting her lips. I’ve noticed she bites her lip alot when she’s nervous. ” I mean, this is a family matter and….
” And nothing, ” mum cuts in. ” You are part of the family now and should be in the know about all our secrets,especially the dark ones.”
Vee sits back down awkwardly, without saying another word. She looks so uncomfortable and I can tell that this is the last place she wants to be.
” Mum, you can’t listen to Stacy, you know she’s a liar and a psychopath! ” I say .
” I know she’s a liar Alex but she’s not lying about me having a sister and I want to know how she found out. ”
” You’d be surprised everything I know about your sister, ” Stacy says with a smile shaking her head.
” Surprise me, ” Mum says still calm.
” Stacy we need to talk, ” I say walking over to her and grab her hand.
I can’t let her tell mum the truth! What if it kills her?
” Alex, let her go?” mum says. ” You’ll talk all you want after she answers my question.”
” I told her about your sister, Alicia. ” That’s Dad. He’s very nervous.
” What were you talking about that brought up my sister? ”
” We were talking about the son he has with your sister, ” Stacy says and it’s taking everything in me not to kill her right now.
I look at mum who’s still silent and I dont get why she doesn’t look shocked or angry.
What’s happening, could she already have known about this, or is this the calm that comes before the storm?
” Is that all? ” Mum finally says and that confirms everything.
She always knew!
Dad is shocked beyond words and everyone else looks lost, especially Ava. This is so not how I pictured the dinner will be!
” What? ” Stacy asks in disbelief. ” I just told you that your husband had an affair with your sister and that they have a son, and that’s what you ask? ”
” I already knew ,isn’t that clear to you by now?” mum says taking a sip of her water. ” What is shocking here, is that you are trying your best to ruin my family, after I raised you and loved you as my own. ”
” Your family was ruined way before I came in the picture, and no need to pretend. I know you never loved me mum,” Stacy yells. ” If you did, you wouldn’t have supported that slut and your sons relationship. He should be with me and not her! ”
” Don’t you dare call Violet a slut! ” Mum say furiously.
” Calm down mum. ” I say walking to her. ” Stacy, I think it’s about time you left. ”
” Yes leave! Mum says through gritted teeth, pointing at the door. ” I want you to get all your sht and get out of my house. Am done giving charity to a snake. ”
” I am a snake? ” Stacy says with a chuckle, acting like she’s got no care in the world. Am starting to think that she gone totally mad! ” It’s funny that you of all people should call me that, after everything you did to Ava, ” she continues and mum gets tense all of a sudden.
” Just leave Stacy, we’ve had enough of this already!” George says getting up. He grabs her hand and pulls her to the door.
” Wait.., ” she says yanking her hand from George. ” Your mum sold Ava to a bro thel! ”
” Oh come on Stacy! Just accept you’ve lost and leave already! ” I say shaking my head.
” I am telling the truth. You can ask Ava if you want to. ”
” You think I believe you after everything?! ”
” Ava.. Is she telling the truth, ” Dad asks and I turn to look at him.
” Don’t tell me you believe her Dad? You think mum would do something like that? ”
” I don’t know Alex but what reason would Stacy have to lie about this? Ava, tell me the truth, ” Dad insists.
” Okay… Tell Dad that she’s lying Ava, ” I say but she hesitates and looks at vee who’s acting strange. What’s going on here?! ” Ava… She’s lying right? ”
” She’s not lying….., ” Ava says and I freeze, all air knocked out of my lungs.
No this can’t be true!
” Alicia.. How could you do that to her?! Dad asks furiously, throwing daggers at me who’s busy looking at me.
” Alex,” she calls and I can’t even look at her right now.
I feel like someone has stabbed me right in the heart!
I quickly spin, walking past George and Stacy and walk out the door.
