?Elizabeth pov?

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“Me, what am doing?” I said sounding a bit shaky.

‘Really Elizabeth, that’s the best question you can think of’. I scold myself.

“This is my room.” He said rolling his eyes.

He looked at me for a second as if I had lost my mind. I totally don’t blame him for that though.

“Oh, I was just leaving,” I said while putting the diary behind my back so he wouldn’t see it then turning around to walking out.

“Oh and my mom said I should remind you that she is hosting a dinner party tonight and she expects you to come and also get something formal to wear you can use my credit card.”

I just nod my head as i collect it and walked out. As much as the thought of using his credit card felt good, I couldn’t. I didn’t want to look like someone who was just using him for his money, at list not by choice since I own everything he has too.

I couldn’t believe I had just done that, I know it’s wrong to read someone else’s diary but that was the only way I could answer all those questions burning in my head, it’s not like he would tell me.

Right now I had to forget about all of this because I had this one major problem.

I didn’t have anything to wear for tonight and I have no idea what I should wear to a formal party. It’s not like my parents ever took me to things like this, they always considered me an embarrassment. At times like this, I always call Mary. So I called her.

?”Mary, I need your help. This is an emergency”

?”Whatever it is, it’s probably not that serious, you just overreacting the situation.”

?”I’ve been invited to this fancy dinner party and I don’t have a dress to wear.”

?”You right, this is an emergency. Meet me at the mall.” She said before hanging up.

I took my car keys, well actually it’s Charles’s car. He said I could use it. The ride to the mall wasn’t that long at all, it was more like a fifteen minutes drive.

After parking the car into the parking lot, I went to this cafe I used to go to a lot while I was a child. It kind of began my hang out spot. I ordered some coffee while I waited impatiently for Mary.

After about a half an hour of waiting she finally arrived, she looked breathless.

“Can you ever get anywhere on time.”

“You better be nice to me, I had to cancel my date for you.”

*TWO HOURS LATER*

“Mary can’t we just go home? We’ve been in like ten stores already. My feet are burning. I’m pretty sure I can find an excuse to tell Charles, it’s not like he actually wants me there.” Don’t get me wrong, I really love shopping but this was just way too much walking to last me a lifetime.

“We are not going anywhere until we find you a dress.”

“How about this one.” I sad lifting up this purple dress with a silver belt.

“You are twenty-seven not eighty-seven. You look worse than my grandma right now and she’s ninety.”she yelled.

“There’s nothing wrong with this.”i said.

“Sometimes I wonder how you live without me.”she replied and rolled her eyes

“You know she is totally right Ellie, purple is not your colour,” Michael said, literally coming from nowhere. I don’t know if you are spying on us or if it was just a coincidence. He was holding a dress in his left hand while his right hand was in his pocket. “Try this white dress, it suits your skin tone.”

I grabbed the dress before going into the fitting room to try it on. It was a long white dress, it covered my toes. It was open at the back and a large v-neck in the front. It hanged perfectly on my body. I reflection that I saw in the mirror was completely different, I couldn’t even recognize myself.

“Come out and let me see it!” Mary yelled.

“I’m not wearing this.” was the first thing I said after getting out of the fitting room.

“You have to unless you want to go into ten more shops.”

She really got me there, she knew how tired I was. She offered to do my hair for me, I couldn’t object because I’m terrible at doing my hair and I don’t trust anyone else with my hair.

She tied my hair into a neat ponytail. I felt as if someone was trying to pull my hair out, that’s how tight it was.

She also applied some make-up on my face, I asked her not to put too much.

“My work here is done, you can do the rest yourself.”

After she had left I went into the bathroom and got changed, somehow I managed to get tangled in my dress. Luckily I had a pair of white heels that would go with the dress and a golden bag in colour.

“Ellie, you need to hurry up.”Charles yelled.

I replied with ‘I’m coming.’ After putting on my silver neckless that my grandma had given me I was finally done.

“You look, different.”

I gave him a small smile before he took my hand into his, leading me to the car and opening the door then closing it again after I had settled myself in.

The ride was silent and I have to say it was getting uncomfortable. I mean I’m sitting next to a guy who has barely said three words to me for the past three weeks.

I had this question that was burning in my head and I needed to get the answer, he was the only one who could answer that. Before I could ask him anything

“Charles, what happened to your brother Nick?”i asked.

The next moment he started snapping at me.

“Can’t you just stay quiet for ten minutes.”he screamed.

I moved into my seat a little backwards. He looked pissed. In fact, I’ve never seen him this angry. It scared me. His face was red and I could see how pissed he was by the way he had a grip on the steering wheel.

You know how to spoil a good mood Elizabeth.

After the short driver which somehow seemed to be hours we arrived. He abandoned me, he left off with a couple of his friends to only heaven knows where. I was glad when he left, I can’t be with someone with mood swings. He is bipolar.

While on my way to the entrance I bumped into someone. She looked so familiar yet I had never seen her before.

“Hi, I know that we haven’t been properly introduced yet, but I’m Dion.”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Elizabeth,” I said reaching out my hand.

She just looked at my hand as if I had given her some kind of insult.

“I know who you are.”

I just replied to her with a simple ‘oh’

“If I were you I’d watch my back.” She said slamming her shoulder into mine before walking away.

I don’t know what that was for, I hadn’t even done anything to her.

I look around the corner of my eye to see that she was heading to where Charles and drug addicts of friends were. She sat right on his lap and began rubbing her hand against his th!gh.

It’s not like I had a problem with this but couldn’t they do it somewhere else privately. He didn’t even bother moving her away. I saw him look at me but I immediately turned away to avoid any eye contact.

Michael came right after she left’ with the ‘Are you okay.’ look

“Are you okay?”he asked.

“Yes,” I said, letting out a deep breath.

“Did she say anything or do anything to you.”

“Besides the death warming, no.”

“How about we take a walk outside, cause you don’t look so good.”

He took my hand into his and lead us in the garden right outside the wall then taking our sits by the bench near the pond.

“So how is your friend Mary.”he asked.

“She is good.”i replied.

“Did she seem angry after I left for any reason?”

“Nope.”

“Did she talk about me.”

“No, and why are you asking me all of this?”

“Because I kinda asked her to marry me.”

“You kidding right?” I said before while busting out laughing.

“You acting just like her, she did the same thing when I asked her. And no, I’m not kidding in fact, I’ve never been more serious in my life.”

I looked at him and gave him a serious face.

“Are you sure you alright?” I said while putting the back of my right hand onto his forehead

“You know what, forget I ever said anything. So tell me how has life been for you?”

“Well actually I was about to call you earlier, I wanted to talk to you about something.”

“Okay, what is it?”

Before I got the chance to ask him, I was once again interrupted. It was Charles this time, he looked extremely worried.

“What do you want Charles?”

“I was looking for you. You suddenly disappeared.”

“Well as you can see, I’m fine.”

We heard someone yelling my name before we all turned around to see a very angry looking Mrs Greene.

“What are you all doing here, the party is that way. Charles and Elizabeth, I need you two to come with me right now, there is someone I want you to meet.” She said dragging us.

After being dragged through the wall we reached to a big table. There where about five people sitting around the table, I didn’t recognize any of them except this one person, it was Liam.

“Charles, I want you to meet your cousin Liam.”

“So you the infamous Charles, nice to finally meet your cousin.” He said stretching his hand for a handshake.

I could see that he was trying to play it all cool but he was failing at that.

“Don’t get too comfortable,” Charles said. It was more like a whisper but just loud enough for me to hear it.

To be honest I wasn’t really expecting him to be cool with all of this but the list he can do is be nice.

“Liam! I’m so glad to see you.” Words could not really express how happy I was to see him.

“I’m glad to see you too, looking as sexy as always.”he said.

I always had a feeling that I would meet Liam again but never this way.

I moved in closer to hug him before he was rudely pushed to the othrer side by Charles. I don’t know but there is something about Liam, whenever I look at him I see Charles’s reflection. Maybe it’s the chick bones, the way they talk or the way they walk.

“I would love to stay here and talk but I really have to go.”

“All ready, you just got here.” Mrs Greene said. Poor her, she is always trying to keep her family together.

“Mom he said he wants to go, let him,” Charles said cutting his mom off.

“Ellie how about dinner at my house tomorrow, I’ll e-mail you the address. Charles can come too if he wants.”he said.

“You know what, El get your bag, we are leaving now.”Charles yelled.

“Charles but the party is about to start.”

“Mom, I’m leaving, I’ve had enough for one day.”

I don’t know how his mother can take his rudeness and arrogance. I think it’s about time someone put him in his place. An idea popped into my head but I had to wait until he was calm because right now he looked as if he was going to strangle someone.

I followed behind him to the car, this time I sat in the back just to be safe. I almost fell asleep on the cold leather seats.

When we got home I went to take a quick shower then getting dress into my sky blue nightgown.

I switched my light off before going to bed. Once again my sleep was interrupted by a knock on the door. I don’t know if this is bad luck but I’m always getting interrupted.

“Can I help you?” I said to Charles looking a little annoyed.

“Can you please return whatever you took from my room.”

If this wasn’t a bad situation I would say this is the nicest I’ve ever seen him, he actually said please.

“I didn’t take anything,” I said softly looking straight at the ground.

“You are terrible at hiding things from me, do you know that. I saw you earlier when I met you in my room.”

“Then why didn’t you say anything?”

“I was giving you a chance to return it, but seeing that you’re not going to return it, I might just come and get it myself.” He said moving in a step closer. I swear I could smell his minty breath.

“Charles, why are you so cold? For a second you okay then the next minute you not. I know you always trying to avoid me, you don’t talk to me and you don’t even look at me for longer than a second.”

“Now, why exactly would I wanna look at you.”

That hurts, but I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction.

“That’s not the point and you know it, you always lying to me and keeping things from me. Charles, I’m not trying to be your enemy. I just need you to confide in me .”

“What exactly did you want me to tell you? On how Michael uselessly got himself involved in gang fights and got Nick killed instead.”Charles yelled.

“Charles I’m so sorry, I had no idea.”
