Episode 18
Ariel sat comfortably on her bed listening to one of her favorite music.
Everyone was literally busy, Jon was on duty preparing dinner. Mrs Damien hadn’t return from work.
Kathrine already left, she couldn’t stay late like she used to because of some personal issues.
Miranda was avoiding her big time and she had no idea why, and of course Jerald didn’t want to have anything to do with her.
The only thing she could do at that moment was to stay on her own finding something to distract herself from thinking.
Soon she heard the door to her room creak open ,then a familiar breathtaking scent , followed by a manly voice ,*what is Jerald doing in my room*,she thought.
“Hi Ariel , can I come in , Jerald asked fully walking into the room .
“You are already in , so I don’t see why you are asking for permission, Ariel stated .
“Yeah , sorry about that, Jerald replied then took a sit on her bed .
“It’s fine ,so what do I owe this unexpected visit , Ariel asked.
“Urm ,I came here to applogize for everything I have done to you ,it was really wrong of me to blame you for nothing in particular.
I was just feeling insecure and jealous , you see for the past 17 years of my life I have never seen anyone my mom would care so much for except me not like she didn’t care for the people she saves ,just that the way she loves you is so much different.
She even neglected me because of you and that’s when I knew what I was doing was wrong ,by not accepting you ,I am only drifting my mother away from myself .
“This past few days ,all I see in her eyes is pain and it hurts me to know I caused those pain by being selfish , don’t get me wrong but I didn’t hate you because she was willing things into your name ,I don’t care about luxuries ,I have always wanted to be independent ,I hated you because you had now become someone she cherised more than me .
“I love my mother very much ,she is the only family I have left ,I was scared that soon she won’t consider me anymore because of you , that’s why I did those things , please forgive me Ariel ,I am deeply sorry for what I did to you and my mom , please find it in your hands to forgive me ,I promise you it won’t repeat it self again , Jerald pleaded going on his knees even though Ariel wasn’t going to see it.
“No Jerald you don’t have to apologize ,I understand your situation, and it’s my fault too ,I made you feel insecure about your mother’s love ,I should be the one apologizing ,I have forgiven you and ,I am sorry , Ariel said .
“You really have a big heart Ariel ,thank you so much ,now I don’t hate you anymore , but what about my mother is she going to forgive me , Jerald asked worriedly.
“She is your mother ,she will surely forgive , don’t you worry ,why don’t you apologize while having dinner, Ariel suggested .
“Yeah, you are right, I will do so, thanks Ariel, when dinner is ready, I will come take you down myself okay, Jerald said.
“Alright I would be waiting, Ariel replied smiling, finally things would be back to normal .
“Bye Ariel, Jerald said before leaving .
“Bye ,she replied.

“Jackie , what’s wrong you have been smiling all day ,did you by any chance find a lover ,Rosa asked Jackie as they set the table for dinner .
“Seriously ,so I can’t be happy until I find a lover ,is that what you are saying, Jackie asked .
“Of course not , it’s just that you rearly smile ever since Jon got promoted ,but today you are grining from ear to ear and I don’t get why ,Rosa said truthfully.
“Well you don’t need to know the reason behind my smiles yet ,so for now enjoy what you are seeing and don’t ask any questions, Jackie replied instead .
Not quite long Mrs Damien walked in looking exhausted , the maids greeted her as she walked upstairs which she didn’t fail to return.
Dinner was ready and the table was set and ready to dine on. Mrs Damien after taking her bath and changing her clothes walked down stairs for dinner. She got to the dinner table to find it empty. Ariel and Jerald weren’t there yet, so she sent a maid to call them down.

Few minutes later, Jerald and Ariel walked downstairs holding hands and smiling at the same time. Mrs Damien who bowed her in deep thoughts, suddenly raised her head up after hearing gasps from the maids .
She stood up in shock, surprised by the image she saw. Were her eyes decieving her or was it because she was thinking too much? She rubbed her eyes to see if it was just her imagination, but it wasn’t. Ariel and Jerald were really holding hands and smiling at each other .
She shed uncontrollable tears as they walked up to her. She immediately pulled both of them into a hug, she was so happy that finally her prayers have been answered. She continued to shed tears of joy until they both pulled out of the hug and Jerald cleaned her tears .
“Am sorry mom, for causing you nothing but pain. I was being blinded by hate I had no idea I was doing the wrong thing and causing you pain. Am sorry mom please forgive me, Jerald said as he tried going on his knees but Mrs Damien was quick to stop him.
She pulled him into a hug and said.
“I have forgiven you , you are my son and I can never stay mad at you .
“Thank you Mom , Jerald replied .
“So are we going to eat or hug all day , Ariel suddenly said.
“Oh sorry my dear, come let’s have dinner like one happy family that we are. Mrs Damien said, and they went to the table and sat for dinner .
Jon came immediately to serve the food. She dished out the food on everyone’s plate and poured the juice in their cup. She did all this in a hurry to avoid Ariel telling her to join the table .
She was about leaving when she brought out a little bottle containing pepper, she forgot to add it into Jerald’s food. He had asked her for extra pepper while she was cooking, and she knowing fully well that Mrs Damien didn’t like too much pepper and she decided to add it separately when she dished out the food.
She quickly brought it out of her apron and decanted not too much but enough quantity into Jerald’s food ,he thanked her before she left.
Everyone ate happily knowing that there was no more problem between Jerald and Ariel. There were two people in the house that were beyond happy; one was Mrs Damien who was more than happy about the united family and two was Jackie who no one actually knew why she was so happy that she even offered to help the maids in setting the table.
Mrs Damien, Ariel and Jerald chatted happily like one big family, untill she started to notice how Jerald would squeeze his face at most interval, holding unto his stomach. *Maybe he has a running stomach but doesn’t want to spoil the fun*. She thought assuring herself that nothing was wrong .
Jerald on the other hand felt really weird as his stomach ached painful. He had no idea why, just like his mother he thought about it as a running stomach. If he was done with dinner he would rush upstairs to use the toilet.
He continued to tell his mother funny jokes and stories till he couldn’t take the pain anymore as he groaned out in pain falling to the ground .
Mrs Damien rushed up to her son to see him clutching tightly to his stomach coughing continuously.
Ariel didn’t know what was actually happening but she knew something was wrong .
The dinner table was now crowed with all the workers including Jon ,they were terrified about the scene. Jerald was coughing continuously as bIood started dripping out of his mouth , everyone gasped in surprise .
“BIood , Jackie screamed in fright .
Asher rushed in immediately and carried Jerald in his arms rushing him to the car Mrs Damien grabbed Ariel’s hand as the ran after Asher. They got to the car and Asher started the engine drove the car out of the house in full speed.
Ariel was panicking ,she didn’t know why Jerald was bIeeding, no one knew why.
Mrs Damien was losing her mind as she held Jerald who was looking lifeless in her arms .
“Son please open your eyes , everything is going to be fine , nothing is gonna happen to you , please open your eyes , Mrs Damien said crying profusely.
“Mom please stop crying , Jerald is going to be fine ,we need to stay strong for him , Ariel said trying to assure her ,but it was all in vain ,as she continued to even more .
Soon they got to doctor Charles hospital , immediately the nurses came out with a stretcher , Mrs Damien already put a call through doctor Charles while in the car .
They placed Jerald on it before wheeling it inside the hospital straight into the operation theater .
