THIRTY MINUTES LATER…..
Ariel and Isabella got to a grocery store just in time. They shopped for all that was needed and they were about to leave when Isabella decided to use the restroom.
Ariel stood beside her car, enjoying the view of the area, it was cool and calm.
Suddenly she saw two hefty men holding beating up an old man, she felt sorry for him, it reminded her of the time she used to get bullied, she watched restlessly thinking of a way to help the man. She could only pray silently and God heard her prayer. The two hefty men left the old man.
She quickly ran to him, he had few bruises. She helped him up and took him to a nearby bench where they both sat.
She had no first aid with her only her face towel, due to the bruises the man had on his face. Ariel not thinking twice used her face towel to clean them off.
“Thank you kind one, the man said to her with teary eyes, this weakened her more.
“You are welcome sir. What happened, why were they attacking you? She asked curiously.
“Oh my dear, I just wanted something to eat, so I went to beg them, but instead of having pity on me, they brought me here and beat me up. The old man replied.
“How cruel can they be. Hold on let me get you something to eat. She quickly rushed to the nearby bakery which was close to the grocery store, there she bought so much food for the old man.
“Here, have this, I hope it’s enough. Ariel said handing the man a disposable plate filled with two hamburgers.
“Thank you very much, the man appreciated.
“You are welcome, have the rest of these, it should sustain you till tomorrow. Ariel said as she gave him all that she bought.
“You are very kind, may you prosper in all that you do. The man said. He closed up the food and stood up. He dipped his hand into his pocket trouser and brought out a necklace, a paper also flew out of his pocket. Ariel saw and quickly picked it up handing it back to him. It was a picture of a woman.
“Have this, it’s a treasure I have been keeping for years, thank you for your help. The old man said.
“Thank you sir, this is really beautiful. Is that your wife , Ariel asked out of curiosity seeing how beautiful the woman looked.
The old man looked at the paper picture, and shook his head negatively.
“No, this is my late daughter’s role model; MRS CLAIRE DAMIEN. If you turn to the other side, you will see the picture of her son JERALD DAMIEN. Her husband is late, she is a good woman and has been taking care of New York for years now, don’t you know her? The old man asked.
Ariel couldn’t utter a word, she took the picture from him and stared at it again. Mrs Damien is truly beautiful, like she has always thought, she turned the paper and saw the picture of Mrs Damien son the man talked about, but immediately she saw it, she stood up in h®rror.
The picture of Austin was there, was he joking when he said this was Mrs Damien’s son, Jerald her worst nightmare or someone else.
To be on the safe side, Ariel asked to be sure if truly. The man wasn’t mistaken.
“Who did you say is at the other page of this paper? Ariel asked tiny beads of sweat forming on her head.
“Oh, I said this is Mrs Claire Damien’s son; Jerald Damien, very handsome young man, my daughter had a huge crush on him. The old man said freely not noticing how tensed Ariel looked.
She stood dumbfounded, her heart ached painfully realizing her parents were aware of Jerald being close to her for so many months and no one told her not even her best friend and sister. They all lied, they kept her in the dark, why would they do such a thing to her, after all she went through in his hands.
This must be why Kathrine was pestering her to confess her love for Austin. Do they hate her that much, that they want her out of their lives, why would they lie and cheat her like that. All she wanted was family and love, but it seems like the people around her don’t want it.
Dark thoughts ran into Ariel’s mind as she held the picture firmly. She picked up her bag bade the old man good bye and left for her car. Surprisingly, Isabella was there, but she really didn’t have time for that. All she wanted at this point is an explanation.

Ariel got home quite late due to traffic. By 7pm, everyone was waiting for her at the sitting room all tensed and worried. Jerald was present as well, he was looking so odd and also angry.
Ariel walked in angrily with Isabella behind.
“Karen where have you been, Kimberly asked immediately.
Ariel stared at them in annoyance, her eyes met with Jerald, he was looking at her as well. “Ariel, he called calmly.
Like a possessed being, Ariel walked up to him and landed a $lap on his face, everyone gasped in surprise.
“Karen, what’s wrong with you, Katherine said gaining Ariel’s attention. She turned towards her direction and walked up to her with tears running down her cheek.
She landed a $lap on Kathrine’s face, then pulled her hair, continuously screaming ‘why’ .
Everyone was surprised to see Ariel behaving in such attitude. Jerald helped Kathrine loosen the grip on her hair, by pulling Ariel away.
“What has come over you Karen?! ken yelled at Ariel who was breathing heavily.
Kimberly held unto a crying Kathrine, they were surprised and shocked. Kathrine was more suprised as she burst into more tears.
“What has come over me? I should be asking you all that questions, if you never loved me or wanted me why didn’t you just say so, why did you have to deceive and betray me?! Ariel yelled crying profusely.
“What are you talking about? Kimberly asked confused.
“How could you guys betray me this much? If I wasn’t good enough you could have just said so. You all knew Jerald and Austin were the same person, why didn’t you tell me, don’t I deserve to know, why did you try to bring us together, when you knew how much I detest him? You knew what I went through in his hands, you knew yet you keep quiet, you kept me in the dark, you cheated me, mom, dad. Kathrine, you of all people, my best friend.
All of you are m®nsters, that’s what you are, you never for once considered my feelings, why?
What wrong did I do to you, I just wanted a family. I never asked for money, I never troubled you, why did you guys do this to me? Ariel cried face palming herself.
Shock held each and every one’s face. Ken was surprised to hear all that Ariel said.
The enemy had already striked, he had earlier received information from his spy about their plan to destroy his family.
That was why everyone was anxiously waiting for Ariel at home. But Jerald returned before her, he had also regained his memory, he was angry at David and couldn’t stand anyone’s presence in his house, so he came to Ariel’s house hoping to appologise, but then he met with something else .
No one could utter a word, they were all silent. Ariel just stared at them with horror, seeing how silent and guilty they all felt, she turned to go upstairs but then loud gunshot were heard, and the door bursting open with armed men surrounding them.
Two people walked in; a girl and a man, which Ariel was quick to recognize; THE OLD MAN AT THE GROCERY STORE.
