“Mommy…. Mommy”. I felt a soft touch on my laps.
I was fast asleep as I heard the thunder.
“Mommy….I’m scared”. He shook me again as I sprang up removing my bedspread off.
“Jordan?
“Mommy….Snow Queen is here again”. He said pointing at nothing in particular.
He was in tears as I lifted him off his feets. He was barely 3 years old but he sleeps in his own room .
Merely looking at him you’ll think he’s older than his age, the way he talks , acts and his stature they’re that of a 6 year old boy .
“Jordan…calm down honey…calm down”. I drew him close to my bosom after placing him well on my laps .
“I’m scared”. He whispered.
“Is he Okay? Angel came to my room and switched on the light.
“Yeah…he’s scared of the thunder”. I said as Angel came closer and sat beside the bed.
“Bring him”. She took him from my arms as I stood up and went to the window and closed it well . I adjusted the curtains and went back to meet them .
“Let me get him some milkshake or probably cereal or anything that will make him stop sobbing”. I placed my hand on my forehead pacing up and down.
“Calm down Valerie… we’ll sort things out with him, Jordan is just a baby and it’s normal for babies to be scared of things like that…make the milkshake and let’s feed him with it first, it’s his favorite after all”. Angel said patting his head but he was still sobbing.
“Okay”. I walked towards the living room and went to the kitchen as I made milkshake and poured it into his feeding bottle.
“Don’t be scared Jordan…Momma is here, we’ll chase the Snow Queen away after making you fire….baby baby Jordan Mommy loves you”. Angel sang .
She carried him and placed his head on her shoulders tapping her legs on the floor, as she sang for him.
“Here is his milkshake”. I said handling the bottle to her.
“My baby…here”. She gave him his milkshake but he didn’t collect it from her.
“Bring him”. I carried him from her hands and kept singing for him.
(Thunder cracks)
“Mommy…..Snow Queen”. He cried again digging his head into my bosom. He pointed at nothing in particular .
“Jordan….where is the Snow Queen? I said to him.
“There? He raised his head and pointed towards the curtain .
I didn’t see anything in particular . Gosh! This is too difficult , raising a baby is difficult….so difficult.
I broke down into tears and sat down on the bed.
“Valerie? What’s wrong with you? Jordan is crying and instead of petting him you chose to cry with him,get a grip of yourself and sing a lullaby to lull him back to sleep, make sure he sleeps in your room and not his room…” Angel ordered going to her room .
“Baby …. Jordan,do not be scared of thunder because you’re more stronger… you’re the light shining in the darkness.. hush now my son…hush now my darling, I’ll defeat the Snow Queen”.
(Tense Music Playing)
I sang on and on till he dozed off . I laid him on my bed and covered him with my bedspread,I couldn’t switch off the lights because he was scared of the dark too..he always has the light in his room on .
I was about laying down when Angel opened the door.
“Is he asleep? She whispered peeping behind the half opened door.
“Yes….and good night”. I whispered back with a smile as she waved at me and closed the door gently.
I cuddled him to my bosom and ran my hands through his hair, I brought the fringe covering his face to the back of his ears.
He looks so much like Harris. Harris would probably think I have aborted him .
Now that he is married to Autumn. I could remember that day when I saw the show on the TV .
Angel had called me to watch the two of them, Jordan was just a year old then . I carried him from the room and went to the sitting room when I watched the news.
I was broken ?
I was shattered ?
But I knew I had a hope of living, my son is the reason why I’m alive right now
When others rejected me, he accepted me into his little arms.
After that marriage scene, I never heard of them anymore and I didn’t want to.
I don’t wanna have any memories of him again .
I wonder why Jordan looks so much like him, his eyes,nose , hair excluding his lips which he took from me.
I rubbed his hair and tucked him in warmly, thereafter wrapping my hands around him.

“No…No…come back, please… don’t run away from me…” I wept as the rain kept beating me and soaking me in the rain.
I was drenched and here was this little baby boy in the rain too crawling away from me, get he was crying.
I was just trying to help but each time I stretch forth my hand to carry him , he cries and crawls away from me.
As the thunder strikes , he gave a loud cry and I told him to come but he wouldn’t answer. He crawled towards a deep hold which the thunder made and I heard a woman’s voice.
“Come”. Without seeing the woman , he obeyed at once and crawled towards the area where the voice is coming from and he fell into the pit,I didn’t hear his voice neither did I hear the woman’s voice.
I screamed and woke up when he fell into the pit .
“Arghhhh…..!” . I shouted yanking my bedspread off.
“Oh my gosh! Harris! What is the matter? My wife said sitting up as she switched on the lights.
“Autumn, haven’t I warned you against switching off the lights of the room? Haven’t I? I told you I can’t sleep with the lights off… what’s wrong with you? Can’t you understand that simple phrase? I yelled at her.
“I’m so sorry Harris… It won’t repeat itself again,I just find it hard to sleep with the lights on”
“If it’s not comfortable for the two of us , I’ll sleep in the guest room then”. I said trying to stand up when she held my hand.
“I’m sorry love, I respect your decision…. what did you see in this dream again? Is it the same dream you’ve always had anytime there is a thunder? She said.
“Yes”. I nodded standing up from the bed.
“Oh gosh! What do we do now? She stood up and wanted to follow me.
“Babe,I’ll be fine…you go to bed, I’ll be okay…I just need to clear my head”. I said to her and headed towards the door
“But, Harris?
“Shushhhh….” I placed my finger on her lips
“Hmmm”.
“Don’t say a word, head back to bed”. I kssed her forehead and led her to the bed back as I covered bee with the bedspread.
“Are you sure you’ll be fine without me there? I can give you a lap dance or a back massage to ease your burden”. She said se.ductively.
“Nah! I’m better off with those things,I’ll just have few cups of beer and come back to bed. I love you babe”. I kssed her lips.
“I love you too”. She said and watched me close the door.
I went to the dinning room and stayed at the bar. I took a bottle of beer and a glass cup as I poured myself a cup.
I sipped it when I heard some footsteps and looked back.
“Oh my gosh? You scared me!”. One of my maids, Tonia said . She was holding a broom and she actually tip toed to my back.
“Tonia,what are you doing? I said dropping the glass on the table .
“Young master! I’m sorry….I actually heard some footsteps and I decided to check who is outside….I thought it was an intruder, besides….I had a dream that a strange person came here….I’m sorry I startled you sir”. She bowed her head.
“I had a dream too that’s why I stepped out for a while, care for a drink? I offered her.
“No sir….I’ll be going back to bed soon”. She bowed
“Okay Tonia”
“Do you want me to get you anything? Anything at all? She asked again
“No….if I need anything, I’ll tell you “. I said and she turned to leave to her room.
I walked to the round table in the dining room and placed my hands on it while standing.
“Pull yourself together Harris…but who is that woman and that baby? Why do I keep seeing them in my dream? Why? I drank the beer again .
“Harris? I heard Autumn’s voice. She was in her pyjamas. She strolled down the stairs and walked towards me.
“Baby, are you okay? She wrapped her arms around my stomach
“Yeah, I’m okay…I just needed to clear my head . Mom sent a message to me that she’ll be coming first thing tomorrow morning…so I’ll go to the airport to pick her as she insists”. I said .
“Okay darling….at least you’ll come to bed for few rounds maybe that would ease your head and make you fall asleep”. She said se.ductively and pressed a kss on my lips.
She climbed my body and wrapped her legs around my waist as we still kssed. I carried her and held her butt as I walked towards our room.
That should ease my brain and make me forget the dream.
