“That will never happen!” I interjected loudly.
“First and foremost, I don’t believe that nonsense about her being pregnant with my child.
Secondly, I already have a child and don’t need another from anyone else.”
“Zosar!” Father roared.
“What nonsense are you spouting? Didn’t you consider the consequences while you were indulging with her? What has come over you?”
“Let’s conduct a test,” Mother finally spoke up.
“Let’s confirm whether the baby is truly yours or not. I’m certain you and your daughter are agreeable to that?”
I looked at the woman, who exchanged a quick glance with Naunet.
“Of…Of course, my Queen. I’m completely fine with it. At least, it will dispel all doubts,” she replied.
“Good. Then come with me. Let’s go to the healer so that she can collect a bI.ood sample from your daughter for the test,” Mother said, starting to walk away in my direction.
Our eyes met, and she gave me a look of disappointment as she walked past me.
Naunet and her so-called mother followed behind her.

I returned to my room, seething with anger and frustration. I felt like screaming.
“Dmn it!” I snarled and kicked the bed.
Why does this have to happen? Why does that woman have to get pregnant with my child?
I can’t have someone else carrying my child—especially not someone like Naunet.
The door immediately opened, and I turned to see Rana walking in.
What the heck? How did she just barge into my room like that?
Her eyes were swollen, and her face was pale.
“I want to be alone, Rana. Please,” I said, feeling dejected.
“Really?” She scoffed and stood in front of me.
“I’ve heard the news—the ‘good’ news—and I came to congratulate you. Soon, you’ll be a father of two.”
She let out a dry laugh, and I rolled my eyes.
“Rana, not now…”
“Is this what you want, Zosar?” she asked.
“Do you truly find joy in all of this?
How can one ensure universal pregnancy? First, it was Hathor – and now, a maid?” She spoke with a trembling voice, as if on the verge of tears.
“We’ve been together for so long, Zosar. We’ve known each other for years. I’ve… I’ve offered you my body countless times. Yet, you…”
She paused, tears streaming down her face.
“You seem to disregard my emotions completely. Didn’t you consider the pain I would feel from all of this?
It makes me feel like you’re using me as if I were disposable.”
“What on earth are you talking about, Rana?” I responded, anger seeping into my words.
“First, you willingly shared your body with me, and we both agreed it was for enjoyment and pleasure, nothing more.
So why the h’ll are you making it sound like I used you and discarded you?”
She gasped in disbelief.
“Zosar?” She called, taken aback.
“Enjoyment and pleasure? That’s all it was to you? You heartless j.erk!” She sobbed and struck my chest.
She retreated briefly, only to face me again.
“Well, just so you know, we’re engaged, Zosar! We’re damn engaged.
So, no matter what happens, I’ll be the one you end up with,” she whimpered, and my eyebrows shot up in surprise.
Huh? What is she talking about? Who’s engaged?
I stared at her speechless, and she turned away and left the room.

Zoey’s Perspective:
Being alone in the room was becoming tedious, so I decided to spend some time with Zosar. He was the only person I knew in this place, after all.
I left my room and discovered two guards stationed outside. Oh! Zosar had mentioned this to me already – that he had arranged for guards for my protection.
“Are you going somewhere, ma’am?” one of them inquired.
“Oh…yes. Um…take me to the prince’s room, please. I haven’t been there before,” I replied, feeling slightly bashful.
“Okay. Come with me,” he responded and began leading the way, while I followed behind.
As I walked behind him, I took in the surroundings. The palace was incredibly stunning.
We passed by some maids who were tending to the flowers, and they gazed at me with wide eyes.
“I can’t believe two women are now expecting the prince’s child,” I overheard one of them say, and my eyes widened in disbelief.
What did she just say?
Two women – pregnant with the prince’s child??

Naunet’s Perspective:
“It will heal,” the healer reassured me as she placed a leaf on the cut on my skin.
I remained silent, clutching my hand tightly. Mother and the Queen were also present in the room.

“So, when will the results be available?” the Queen inquired.
“Well, I will commence the process now, and by tomorrow morning, the results should be ready,” the healer replied, causing my heart to skip a beat.
Goodness!
“Very well. I will be awaiting the results,” the Queen informed her before abruptly approaching me.

I glanced at my mother, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
