Chapter 5.

Amy sat up and blinked, looking very startled. She couldn’t believe Xan was now inviting her over for lunch.

She bent her cheeks to stare down at her snacks. She didn’t know why both brothers were acting very nice to her all of a sudden.

She didn’t know if to reject Vixen or Xan. She was just too confused.

She looked up to stare at Xan again.

“You want me to come over for lunch?” She asked.

“It’s your choice, Amy. If you don’t want to come along then you can stay back.” He said and turned around to pull the door.

“Hum…Wait!!” She yelled, jumping right out of her seat. She threw vixen snacks into the bin and ran to meet him.

Xan turned around and caught her arm almost before she could crash into him.

She stepped back and looked up at him.

“I’ll come along only if we have pizza and soda. Mn? Right?” She asked, giggling.

Xan throated a chuckle, rubbing her hair gently. He didn’t know why he found this girl amusing everytime.

“Your head is full of food and nothing else” He muttered and stared down below her lips, at her chin.

His eyes squinted as he tried to observe carefully. He stretched out his thumb and rubbed her chin smoothly.

Amy almost shuddered her shoulder by the touch of his cold thumb on her skin.

Her body reacted very differently. She almost wanted to grab his full palm and place it on her cheeks wholesomely.

“What’s that?” Amy asked, looking up at him.

Xan sighed staring at the content in his thumb. He raised his head to stare at her table.

“Amy. Did you eat what my brother gave you?” He asked, turning to look at her.

Amy roughly dusted her cheeks, staring at her palm. There were lots of wafer snack particles on her palm.

She almost panicked. She thought she would be able to hide it from him.

Geez. She forgot xan was a man who was over suspicious and over sensitive. She moved back, feeling very guilty.

She didn’t want to upset xan again.

“I..I…just wanted to have a little taste because it’s…it’s. .really a nice snacks.” She said resting her back on the opposite wall.

Xan leaned his arm on the wall, pinching her chin gently.

“Amy. You need to be careful around Vixen. He’s more dangerous than you think” He said, pulling a serious face.

“Dangerous? Do you mean he must have po!soned my snacks?” She asked, looking at him very confused.

“Amy, he’s trying to lure you.” He lowered his voice, breathing heavily. ” He wants you.”

“And Why are you so concerned about that? You don’t like me right, so why do you stop him from coming close to me.” Amy defended, tightening her brows at him.

Xan slowly dropped his hand and gave a bitter smile, a kind of warning smirk.

“I guess you don’t understand me, Amy. Yet, I still don’t want you to become a victim to his trap.” He grinned.

“What trap are you talking about?” Someone wheeled out from behind them.

Xan turned around and saw it was Vixen. He was leaning there on Amy’s table pocketing his arm.

Xan exhaled deeply, his mood shifted immediately.

“And how long have you been there?” Xan asked.

“For as long as I heard ‘Vixen’ slip into your conversation.” He said and began to walk towards them.

He had a very skeptical and sxy style of walking. He held up Amy’s little palm.

“Amy. Your Xan is right. I’m very dangerous. That’s because he made me be that way. I’m sure you don’t want to be with a dangerous person.”

“I don’t think you are dangerous.” Amy mumbled, lowering her face.

Vixen smiled and quickly pulled her to his warm embrace.

Amy was shocked as she found him hugging her body very tight.

“You are right, Amy. I’m only dangerous to those who don’t respect themselves around me. Someone like the id!ot in our midst.” He said, glaring at Xan.

Xan lowered his gaze, gulping down the existence of his mighty anger.

Amy turned her head to stare at Xan and she saw that look in his eyes again.

The ice and the fire built up like coating shield running smoke in his eyes.

She realised she was already pushing the d’vil in him from erupting. She wondered how she was able to cause havoc between two powerful men.

She remembered she was just an ordinary delievery girl. And how Xan gave her this job to pay her debt.

Everything was turning upside down now. She would loose if she failed to fix the problem she was in.

Xan bit his lips as he stared Vixen hug her tight to himself. He looked away from them and walked towards the door.

He halted to stare at Amy eyes for one more time before he finally marched out.

Amy lowered her gaze in sadness. ‘Woah, she got Vixen all to herself now.

What was her gain anyways?. Was Vixen any better to Xan’ she thought.

Amy quickly pulled away from Vixen and tried to leave.

“Stop!. Where are you going?” He asked, holding her firmly.

“Leave me, let me go now!” She yelled, trying to pushing him out of her way.

Vixen grabbed her hand, held her in place and let her back fall to the wall.

He pinned her two palms, leaning into her.

“I won’t let you meet, Xan. He’s not meant for you. You will regret this if you meet him” Vixen gritted.

“I have a change of mind now. Just let me go meet him please!” She yelled, ki¢king him.

She saw he was not ready to let go. She spat in his eyes and he quickly left her arm, rubbing his face.

Amy used the grace to run out quickly.

“Wait. Amy!” Vixen yelled, following her behind again, holding up one eye.

Amy stopped to ask the workers if they’d seen xan. She was directed towards the exit.

She called out to Xan as she ran. She met him taking a turn towards the elevator.

She increased her pace to run in and meet him before the door would jamb close.

Her fate tore apart after the space left was unable to fit her body.

As soon as she arrived at the elevator, Xan found himself holding up the mould and stopping it from closing up.

She stopped, looking up at him.

“Come in quickly!” He yelled.

She quickly snapped out of her gaze and ran in immediately.

Xan left hold of the elevator and stared at Vixen who was still running by.

The door closed up before he could even approach them halfway.

As soon as the door were intertwined, Xan turned around to meet Amy’s gaze.

“Why did you come back?” He muttered, staring at her dangerously

Amy smiled and quickly grabbed his body and hugged him harder.

“I’m sorry. You were right about Vixen. I didnt use my head at that moment.” She said and looked up at him, letting go of his body.

“I would keep distance away from him now. I..I don’t want to upset you anymore ever again” she said.

Xan lazily looked down at her for a while without doing anything.

“Pizza and soda right?” He asked.

She found herself smiling very widely, almost brighter than sun…

???

7:30

The alarm rang for the last time that day. Amy closed up her computer even though she wasn’t done with her work yet.

She stood up from her couch, stretching her whole body like an athletic player warming up before a play.

Sigh, finally. She couldn’t wait to go home and sink her whole body into a hot shower.

She had handled her first task as a personal assistant. She knew she deserved a thumbs up.

It was raining ever since she came back from the resturant with Xan.

And Vixen, she hadn’t seen him either.

She picked up her bag and strode out of the office, trying to lock them up with her keys.

She struggled to lock up the dmn door but it wasn’t proceeding. She ki¢ked the door with her feet…

“Ouch!!” She yelled, staggering back in pain.

She couldn’t understand why everything in life was a problem for her.

She stood there, staring blankly at her door.

“Amy.” A deep masculine voice uttered. Amy, without turning back, already knew who it was.

She turned around and almost hit her face on his chest. She stepped back, looking at xan.

“Xan. Oh…you are going home as well” she said, seeing his cross bag over his body.

He stared at the keys in her hand and then back at the door, before pinning his eyes at her again.

“What were you doing with those keys?” He asked, squinting his eyes.

He was probably ready to hear one stupid reason from her again.

“Huh?. This?. I was trying to lock up this freaking door” she said, htting the door with her feet.

Xan sighed, pocketing his arm. He knew that as times went by, he would become a full time lecturer to this girl.

She seemed to be dull at all sides.

“That key wasn’t for the door. I gave it to you to lock up your file cabinet.”

“Then what about this door?” she pointed.

“It’s always left unlocked.”

“What if we are robbed?”

Xan sI.apped his forehead, rubbing it down his face.

He had never been this annoyed and depressed in his entire life.

He sighed, looking up at her while grabbing her shoulders firmly.

“This place is highly secured, Amy. Even more than a bank itself so you don’t have to worry. No one can climb up this skyscraper to meet us, okay??” He asked.

She opened her lips, wanting to ask another question but she clumped it shot after seeing Xan’s look.

“Mn. Okay, let’s go.” She shrugged and pulled the keys into her bag.

They began to step away down the grand stairscase.

Everyone had started to leave the office, the tons of parked cars had started to reduce in the yard.

As they left the company, they realised the rain that was earlier showering had started to gain grounds.

Xan opened up his backpack and brought up his umbrella.

“Woah!. Rain!. Rain!. We are under the rain!” Amy rejoiced, turning around gracefully while stretching her palm in the air.

She was overjoyous until Xan umbrella popped up above her head.

He always left that in handy in situations like this. Amy frowned, closing up the space between them.

She quickly hugged his arm and stayed under his protection for a while.

As they moved towards garage, the breeze intensified to the point that the umbrella itself was flying upwards.

“I don’t think I’d be able to find any cab here, Xan. It’s raining and it’s very cold” she stared at him, shivering like a shaking branch.

Xan looked around for a while and didn’t see any sign of other cab.

He knew sean wouldn’t be able to reach over in this heavy rain so he decided to use his own car instead.

He wrapped his arm around her protectively before walking towards his car.

As they left, the rain became stronger under their feet.

Xan quickly dropped the shivering girl at the back of the seat before retrieving towards the driver seat.

“I’ll drop you off first.” He said, settling in.

“Do you know where I live?”

“Then how come I delivered some clothes to you if I didn’t know where you live.” He asked, staring at her from the rare view mirror.

She formed her lip in a somewhat way and didn’t say any word.

He started up his car and began to drive away in hopes of dropping her home quickly.

Amy hugged tight to her wet shirt and leaned her chin on her arm. She wasn’t wearing something good enough for her body to resist the cold.

She heard the car start to make strange annoying sounds. She tilted her head to stare at xan.

Xan stared at the petrol level. He was shocked that it was showing red.

“Oh my….Geez. I forgot to tell sean to fuel this car up!” He yelled, htting the steering wheel with anger.

“What are we going to do?. What if the car stops in the middle of the road?” Amy fearfully asked.

She didn’t want to trek under the rain anymore and fall her sick the next day.

“Sit tight, Amy. It might get us to youf house.” He said, starting up the car again.

He drove really fast. So fast that Amy thought they would die tonight.

She had to hug on to the headrest of other chair to avoid falling over.

As soon as he arrived infront of her doorstep, the car finally plumped to a breakdown.

“Shishh!” Xan muttered, throwing his head away.

Amy looked at Xan for a while, just simply imagining what he would do next.

Xan flicked his finger on his car key and turned off the car.

“There should be any idea of an hotel close by, around here, right?” He asked.

“Um. Not really. The only hotel was the last turn we took before we arrived here” she said rubbing her cold arms.

Xan sighed loudly, running his fingers into his hair.

“You can drop off amy. I’ll remain in the car till the rain stops” He said.

“Huh?. B..but you can just…do something.” she said, looking at him concerned.

Xan turned around to face her and leaned his arm on the headrest.

“Is there any way I can stay at your home until the rain stops?” He finally asked.

Amy felt her heart skip and fly in the air. She gulpdd down nothing, blankly staring at her.

She had actually expected that question. But her head started to spark fireworks the moment she heard him.
