Jasmine’s pov ?
The rest of the ride home was totally in silence, I didn’t speak..
Even when Thanatos was talking to me, I only nodded or shook my head.
I tossed the keys and bag on the table, I walked towards the kitchen to drink some water.
“Baby, are you ok?” Thanatos asked me.. he followed me to the kitchen.
I tilted my head and looked towards Davis, he’s playing with a toy car.. his attention isn’t on us.
“I’m fine” I replied.
Went to the fridge and collected a bottle of water, took a few gulps and sat on a stool.. I reached for an apple.
“I said I’m going back to Chicago, aren’t you gonna say anything?” He asked.
I shook my head, I took a big bite from the apple.
“You don’t wanna know what’s calling me back?” He asked again.
I scoffed inwardly, isn’t it obvious he’s going back because of his wife?
“I don’t care what’s calling you back, but you and Davis just started bonding.. he’s starting to warm up to you and you’re leaving already…”
I cut myself off, he’s staring at me with a smile at the corner of his lips.
“…. I’m not gonna hold you back, you’re free to go.. after all, Davis has been doing fine since five years without you” I said.
“Baby, I…”
“Since you know you’re be leaving so suddenly, you shouldn’t have spoilt my son…you shouldn’t have bought him everything he wanted”
I paused. Why is my heart aching? He doesn’t mean anything to me right?
Right, he doesn’t mean anything… I’m just angry because he’s taking me for a fool.
“Baby, I’m just gonna be gone for three days…”
I scoffed loudly this time.
“You first left without letting me know, five years later you came back and pleaded to be in our lives… I agreed… ”
My heart is aching too much, the pain in my heart kept increasing that I couldn’t hold it in any more…I felt hot liquid running down my cheeks.
I’m crying….
“Baby, listen… ”
“… Thanatos, are you taking me for a fool? Do you think my life is a toilet.. where you come and go as you like?”
He didn’t speak, he’s just staring at me in silence.. I guess he wanted me to let it all out.
“Do you know what I went through these five years? Yet I let you in again, I gave you a chance.. yeah, I get it we aren’t together.. like together again as a couple.. but I’ve let you fked me!”
He turned his head towards the living room, to check if Davis is paying attention to us.. which fortunately, he isn’t.
“Do you think I’d spread my legs for random people? But I did for you, I let you fked me because deep down I still trust you.. I trusted that you’ve come to stay with us this time, but I was wrong.. you didn’t come to stay with us, you’re leaving.. just like you did the other time.. you left after getting me pre.gnant”
“Baby, if you can just calm down and listen to me…. ”
Calm down and listen to what?
“Even though it wasn’t entirely your fault last time, but the fact remains that you left…well, I have nothing to fear this time, you can leave.. cause I know I’m not gonna find out I’m preg.nant.. wanna know why?”
I bite my lower lip. I dread saying these words out, but I will say it today… He’s pushed me into saying it.
“Because, I’m never gonna pre.gnant.. Davis is the only child I’ll ever have on earth!”
His brows furrowed instantly, he looked so shocked hearing those words…I saw so many questions flashed through his eyes.
His eyes held so many questions, questions I couldn’t interpret..but I know he’s dying to ask me.
I’m not ready to tell him how I suffered, telling him now wouldn’t change anything… he’ll still go back to his wife.
“You can go back to your Chicago…my son and I don’t need you!”
I got up and headed for the door, but he caught my hand and pulled me into a hug.
“Baby, I’m sorry… I’m very sorry for letting you suffer alone” he said.
“There’s no need saying that, just go back..go back already, we’ll be fine without you”
I tried to pull away from his hug, but his grip on me is strong.
“Are you sure you don’t wanna know what needed my attention at once?” He asked.
“I don’t wanna know, I already know you’re going back to your wife!” I blurted out.
“My what?”
He pulled away from the hug, but still held my shoulders…so I wouldn’t walk away.
He stared in my eyes, he searched for something in my eyes.. then wiped my tears.
“Baby, you’re jealous!” He said.
“No, I’m not”
“You are, it’s clearly written all over you”
“I said I’m not jealous!”
He nodded his eyes quickly, he took a deep breath and leaned forward to place a kiss on my forehead.. but I move my head away.
“Let me make it clear to you, make sure what I’m gonna say stay imprinted on your mind” he said.
Yeah, I know I said I don’t wanna know why he’s going back, but deep down I really wanna know.
“I’m not going back because of some dmn arranged wife..
you’re my only wife and the woman that I love!”
A smile tugged the corner of my lips, when he said that.
I felt kinda happy that he’s not acknowledging someone else as his love… Doesn’t that makes me a bad person?
“You are my family! You and Davis are my only family.. I love you guys and that’s a fact that can never.. I mean never be changed!”
Hearing these words, my heart stopped aching and it started beating fast..
“Wait.. if you aren’t going back because of your wife…”
He cut me off with a glare. “She’s not my wife, baby, stop calling her my wife”
I rolled my eyeballs.
“Fine.. if you’re not going back because of her, then why are you going back?” I asked.
He pulled me close, turned me in his arms and hugged me from behind.
“My assistant called me last night, she said there’s a problem with our new robot…”
New robot? He’s going back because of his company stuff?
I felt my cheeks heating up in embarrassment, I was blowing up because of robots?!
“… she said our rival company has an upgraded version of it, I wanna go check it out…I wanna check out how they got our design in the first place and how they were able to make it”
I scoffed.
“What’s there to check out, it’s obvious that your rival company have a spy in your company” I said without even thinking.
I gasped when I realized what I just blabbed..
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know what I was saying” I apologized.
I mentally slapped my mouth, I should think before speaking… I know nothing about companies and how the run.
He turned me to face him, there’s a smile on his lips as he’s staring at me.
“You’re right, baby” he said.
“Huh?”
I’m right for saying that nonsense.
“They must have planted a spy on my team, that’s the only way they could make it…you know, that robot too me two years in producing it”
He sat me on the stool I was sitting, then sat on the stool next to me.. he held my hands in his.
“I’ll just have to go back and find out who the spy is.. I’ll make him suffer greatly for betraying me.
I simply nodded. Since I have nothing to contribute.. the only thing I could do is nod.
“My flight is ready and I’ll be leaving soon, I…”
I toned him off when an event flashed back to me.
This morning I broke a few plates, Adele once told me it’s a bad sign.. she said it means something bad is about to happen.
Could it be related to Thanatos trip back to Chicago? Is this a trap set by his rivals?
What if it’s really their plan to get him out of the way? What if they’ve arranged an accident for him?
No, no, Jasmine get those nasty thoughts out of your head.. I guess I’ve watched too much dramas with Adele.
But what about those plates…
“… Baby!” He snapped his fingers in front of me.
I blinked and stared at him.
“What did you say?” I asked.
“I said you should be very careful when I’m gone, though, I’m only gonna be gone for three days…”
“C-can’t you do your work from here?” I asked him.
He stopped talking and stared at me briefly in silence.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, I don’t want you to go back.. at least not for now”
He chuckled.
“Why? Are you scared of missing me too much?” He asked.
I shook my head. “No, I just don’t want you to go back”
“But if I don’t go, how can I find out who the spy is?” He asked.
I kept quiet for a few moments, then sighed.
“Did your assistant really saw their robot? Or someone gave her the information?”
Thanatos shook his head, indicating he doesn’t know if she saw it or wether someone told her.
“Hmm, I know I’m an illiterate, but just listen to me this once”
He glared at me for using such words to describe myself.. he pulled my cheeks softly.
“Go on”
“Wether she saw it herself or someone gave her the information, it might just be a trap to get you back home and kill you..”
He didn’t say anything, he’s just listening to me.. so I continued.
“.. in your business circle, you might be a threat to many people and almost all of them want you out.. so, who knows if you going back means walking into your death?”
He laughed shortly and flicked my forehead.. though he quickly pecked the slight pain away.
“You’ve been watching too much drama, baby” he said.
“I’m being serious, I’ve seen it happen in so many films.. ”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying, you’ve watched too many dramas and it’s clouding your thoughts now”
I narrowed my eyes at him, I crossed my arms on my chest.
“Say whatever you like, all I know is.. I’m not letting you go back”
“Baby… ”
“No! Some plates fell off my hands earlier in the morning, that’s a bad sign.. or are you trying to say that one is fake too?”
He chuckled lightly.
“Don’t tell me you believe in superstitions too”
“It’s not a superstition, you’re not going.. ”
“Just say you’re gonna miss me” he winked at me.
I scoffed and shook my head.
“In your dreams, I just don’t want my son to be fatherless.. or is that your plan? To make my son fatherless at such a tender age?” I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Baby, stop using Davis as an excuse…just admit you’re gonna miss me”
He laughed and shook his head, I glared at him then kept a straight face.
“You only have two options, one, you either call your assistant and work with her from Las Vegas.. or two, you go back to Chicago and never think of coming back to us… ”
“Baby, calm down… ”
“… Or you’ll never see us when you come back, Davis and I will forever disappear from your life!” I said seriously.
He stared at me, studying my expression..I pulled a long face and tight my lips.
He laughed at my expression and he pulled my nose gently.
“Fine, I’m not gonna go back”
I raised an eyebrow at him.
“I’m gonna work from here, since that’s what my wife wants” he said.
“Not wife, fk buddy”
“Really? Will a buddy beg me to stay? Will a buddy get jealous… because she thinks I’m going back to be with my arranged wife?”
I grabbed his collar and narrowed my eyes at him.
“I guess you wanna taste my fist!” I growled in his face.
He gently removed my hand from his collar, he stuck out his tongue at me and made a funny face.
“Your fist can’t hurt me” he said.
“You wanna try it?!”
“That’s if you can catch me”
“Well, the house is not so big”
“Then come get me and I’ll taste your fist”
I banged on the counter, this man is looking down on me… I must show him what I’m capable of.
“Wait… let’s get Davis in the game, let’s see who he’s gonna team up with.. you or me?”
“Me, of course…he loves me way more than you” I said.
He turned towards Davis.
“Davis?” Davis turned to him. “Come”
He jumped off the bed and rushed to Thanatos.
“We wanna play a game, between your momma and your uncle.. who do you wanna team up with?” Thanatos asked him.
Davis looked between Thanatos and I… I secretly called him with my eyes, but he simply smiled and yelled.
“Uncle, uncle, uncle!”
I nodded, feeling oppressed.
“You’ve bribed him with clothes, be ready for my wrath!!!” I yelled.
Thanatos noticed I’m gonna pounce on them soon, he grabbed Davis’s hand and yelled.
“Run!!!”
Then they ran out of the kitchen, with me chasing them from behind..
“I’m gonna catch you soon, Davis is a slow runner” I shouted from behind.
They are just a few inches away from me, Thanatos quickly snatched Davis from the ground.. and carried him on his shoulders.. then continued running.

“I finally caught!” I said as I caught Thanatos hand.
We all slumped down on the floor.
Davis burst into giggles and Thanatos laughed.. me on the other hand, I just breath heavily.
“God, why was it so hard to catch you?” I asked you.
“Momma, is lazy” Davis said.
I raised my hand to hit him, but Thanatos caught my hand and hide Davis away from me.
“You wanna beat him for speaking the truth?” He asked.
I scoffed.
“What truth? I just didn’t wanna catch you in time” I defended myself.
“I’ll have to register you in a gymnastics class” his eyes scanned my body. “You need a lot of exercise.. right Davis?”
“Yeah!” Davis replied.
Hmm… He’s now taking sides with his dad, he’s now turning against me.
Boys will always be boys.. ungrateful set of species!
“I think you should go talk with your assistant now, Davis and I will go get something to eat”
He nodded.
“Ok.. I’ll be in my apartment” he said.
“Your apartment? Can’t you do your work here?” I found myself asking.
“I can if it’s fine by you…you know, I don’t wanna invade your privacy”
“You’re my… ” I cut myself off because of Davis. “… buddy, you can come here whenever you like”
“Really?”
“Yeah…and I’ll give you a spare key late, in case of… ”
In case of what? Why am I giving him my key?
“Are you sure you wanna give me a key to your apartment?” He asked.
I rolled my eyeballs, I don’t even know why I wanna give him my key in the first place.
“Well, I didn’t I needed a reason to give you my key…I can always take back my words if you don’t want it…”
“I want it, I want it” he said quickly.
I smirked and got up.
“Davis, come on… Let’s go eat!” I said.
Davis got up and followed me.
“I’ll go get my laptop” Thanatos said.

Adele’s pov ?
Mike’s kitchen
I sighed when I’m done wiping the last table.
I’ve been wiping tables since I arrived at work, that’s my punishment for coming late.
“Alright, I believe you won’t come late on Monday” he said.
I rolled my eyeballs.
“Hey, don’t roll your eyes at me”
“Oh”
“Come on… You’re serving the next table” he said.
He handed a tray of red wine to me and collected the rag I was using from me.. I groaned.
“Can you give me five minutes break?”
“No, you’re here to work” he said. “Now take this drink to table 19!” He left immediately.
With a groan I headed towards the table 19.. to be honest, Elvis is being lenient with Jasmine and I.. he loves us more than any staff here.
“Good afternoon, here’s your wine” I said as I dropped the wine on the table.
The customer is covering his face with a newspaper, making me curious… I wanna see the face of the person drinking alcohol in the afternoon.
“Is this how you serve your customers?”
My eyes grew wide at the familiar voice. He removed the newspaper from his face and I immediately turned into a statue.
“My beautiful Angel, we meet again!” He said.
“W-what are you doing here?” I stutter.
He smirked, his smirk sent evil sparks down my spine.
“To see how my angel is doing at work!”
Oh no! He’s here for revenge!
