Jasmine’s pov ?
I dialed Arthur’s number, setting it on a video call. I sat on a chair in the dinning table and wait for Arthur to pick up.
After a few rings, he finally picked up.
“Hey, darling” he waved me cheerfully.
I rolled my eyeballs.
Wait… I rolled my eyeballs at Arthur calling me darling? Why?
Before I normally play along when he’s flirting with me, although, I always made sure to draw the line.. but I’ve never rolled my eyeballs.
“I called to let you know I arrived safely last night, but you didn’t pick up”
“Yeah, I was pretty tired and went to bed early” I replied.
He frowned.
“Adele told me you walked home under the rain yesterday, are you ok?” He asked.
I nodded. I wanted to reply him, but my throat felt dry.. so I quickly poured myself a glass of water.
“I’m fine, Thanato took care of me”
“Thanatos?” I nodded. “I thought you hated that guy, why did you let him into your apartment?”
I sighed. I got up, with my phone in my hand, I walked towards the living room…I saw on a sofa and laid back on it.
“Have you forgotten how he left without breathing a single word of it to you?” He asked.. anger dripping off his words.
“Yeah, I know. But I can’t go on hating him forever, he’s Davis’s father and I can’t separate them… He have every right to be in Davis’s life as much as I do”
Arthur scoffed, he turned towards someone beside him and whispered something to him or her.
He got up and walked away from where he was sitting.
“You said he’s Davis’s father? Where was him when you were on the thin line between life and death?”
“Arthur, that’s not entirely his fault… ”
“Not his fault? Then whose fault is it? Mine?”
Arthur had always hated Thanatos, so I understand why he doesn’t want me to forgive him. But….
“Davis don’t need a father like him”
“Arthur, listen, everyone deserves a second chance. Besides it’s… ”
“I know what you wanna say, that it can’t be possible between us.. yeah, I know that”
He paused, but he looked pained.
“But I can’t let you forgive him, not after abandoning you and Davis for five years”
I sighed.
“I understand your anger, Arthur, but you only know half of the story… It’s was never his intentions to leave me, he… ”
“I don’t wanna hear it, I’m in a meeting right now… We’ll talk about this when I get back”
“Hmm” I hummed.
“Alright, gotta go.. tell Davis I love him” he said, without even waiting for my reply.. he hanged up.
Arthur… I don’t know what grievances there is between him and Thanatos.
Well, whatever it is, I can’t let it affect my little boy’s relationship with his father.
My father and I didn’t have a good relationship, my son’s case would be different.
My phone started ringing again, I groaned.. I hope it’s not Arthur calling again.
I checked the caller’s ID, it’s an unknown number.. an unknown number that’s being calling me for almost three years now.
I pressed the answer button and brought it closer to my ear.
“Hello?” I said.
And as usual, there’s no reply, just the sound of a woman sniffling and sobbing.
“Helloooo?”
Still nothing, just the sobbing.
“Ok.. I’ve had enough of this prank. Whoever you are, if you’re just gonna call me and keep sobbing everytime…”
The sobbing becomes louder, I frowned but that didn’t stop me from speaking.
“… then stop calling my d*mn phone!” I said sternly.
The annoying sobbing gets even louder, I felt frustrated and quickly hanged up.. then tossed my phone on the table.
I hate all these prank calls.

Writer’s pov ?
“Alright, champion, go on in” Thanatos told Davis.
They’re outside Davis class now, they arrive early today..so, there are only a few kids inside.
Davis nodded, but gestured Thanatos to come down to his level.
He quickly squat to his level, Davis leaned forward and whispered in Thanatos ear.
“Don’t forget, you promised to take me to the park”
“Of course, I can’t forget something as important as this” Thanatos replied him.
Davis smiled, he almost peck Thanatos cheek but stopped himself in time.. he pecked his finger and placed it on Thanatos cheek instead.
“What about me, aren’t you gonna give me a peck too little Davis?” Adele asked.
Davis stared at her briefly, then scoffed and make a monkey face at her, before rushing into his class.
“Excuse me, may I know who you are?” Davis teacher asked Thanatos.
Before Thanatos could introduce himself, Adele already had.
“Mich, this is Mr O’Briens…”
“Davis’s father?” Michelle cut Adele off.
Adele gave her a tight smile and nodded.. she hate it most when people cuts her off.
“Wow… I’m Michelle Rodgers, Davis’s teacher” she said and reached out her hand for a handshake.
Adele scoffed and rolled her eyeballs, when she saw how Michelle is looking at Thanatos with dreamy eyes.
“It’s nice to meet you, Miss Rodgers” Thanatos said and accepted Michelle’s hand.
Michelle simply nodded, she’s thunderstruck at Thanatos handsome face.
Thanatos wanted to withdraw his hand, but Michelle wouldn’t let him…she held her hand in a tight grip.
He turned to Adele for help.
“Mich, he’s got a son and a wife, stop looking at him with those cheesy dreamy eyes.. or I’mma pluck ’em out!” Adele growled at her.
She forcefully separate Michelle’s hand from Thanatos.
“What a fine creature” Michelle said.
Adele rolled her eyeballs.
“Yeah, I thought so too, until I found out he’s taken”
“Miss Rodgers, please do well to take care of my son” Thanatos said.
“I will”
Adele grabbed Thanatos hand and dragged him from there, before Michelle would seize him again.

“I’m sorry about Mich, Mr O’Briens” Adele apologized.
They are back in Thanatos car right now.
“It’s fine” he replied.
He started the car and sent it into the road, going on a steady speed.
“Mich, always behave like that with every hot guy”
“Hmm, are you saying I’m hot?” Thanatos asked.
Adele looked at him briefly, then back to the road.
“You’re hot, but you’re already my best friend’s property.. so, i better take my eyes off of you”
Thanatos chuckled.
“Well, Jasmine doesn’t think that way” he said.
“She’s just mad at you, but with Davis warming up to you.. I believe she’ll have no choice but to accept you again”
“I hope so, I’ve really missed her”
They stayed in silence for a few minutes, then a question crossed Adele’s mind and she turned to Thanatos.
“Mr O’Briens, I wanna ask you a question.. it’s kinda a personal, I hope you won’t mind?”
“No, I don’t. Please ask”
Adele gulped and nodded.
“You’ve been living your life as a playboy when you were separated from Jasmine.. why?”
Thanatos thought about it for some minutes, he folded his lower lip in his mouth and gulped.
“I did that for a reason, but just to clear your doubts… I never fked any of those girls”
“Huh?”
Thanatos chuckled.
“I just let them stay the night in the same hotel as me”
“You don’t even sleep in the same room?”
“No” he replied.
Adele’s mouth hang open, she’s amazed by what she just heard..
“Such love is rare.. I wish I can find this kind of love too”
Thanatos simply laughed, just then his phone rang.. he checked it and saw it’s Peter calling.
He wore his bluetooth earpiece and tapped the integrated screen in his car.
“Yes, Peter?”
“Mr O’Briens, I’ve got the information”
“Wait in my office, I’ll be right there” Thanatos said and ended the call.
He stepped on the gas and zoomed off in a speed.

Adele’s pov ?
Mr O’Briens (that’s what I like to call him, Thanatos is a mouthful) stopped right in front of Mike’s kitchen.
I got out and smiled at him.
“Thanks for the ride, Mr O’Briens”
“It’s fine, go on” he gestured me to go inside.
He drove off to go park his car, while I walked into Mike’s kitchen.
??…yeah, their relationship is complicated.
?? When Jasmine slapped him the other day, I thought something is going on between them.
?? Me too, but why is Adele with him today?
?? Adele?
?? Yeah… I saw her getting off his car.
This is what a group of gossipers are talking about.
They are so engrossed in their gossip.. that they didn’t even realize I’m standing behind them.
?? Or could it be the two friends are seeing the same man?
?? Isn’t it gonna affect their relationship?
I cleared my throat to make my presence known, they turned their heads towards me..with their eyes bulging out like deers caught in daylight.
“G-good morning, Adele” some of them stutter out.
I smiled at them. “What are you guys talking about? Something interesting? I’d like to hear too”
They chuckled nervously and shook their heads.
“It’s nothing interesting” one of them (Ren.. wait, I didn’t know she’s interested in gossips) said.
“Oh? Really?”
They nodded.
“But I heard you talking about Jas and Adele sharing something” I said.
They exchanged looks and broke into another nervous laugh.
“We’re talking about the new timetable” Ren said.. she must be their spoke woman.
“What’s about it?”
“Nothing.. it’s just you and Jasmine don’t have much work this month.. and you’ll close earlier than anyone else” Ren said.
Wow! I didn’t know being Jasmine’s best friend can bring me a lot of favor… I must go check out the timetable for confirmation.
“I should make it clear to you all. Mr O’Briens and I having nothing together, we only have employee and employer relationship.. nothing more!” I growled at them.
They nodded, with a smirked.. I rushed off to check out the timetable.

Thanatos pov ?
“Good morning, Mr O’Briens!”
All the staffs greeted me as I walked in, I simply nod in acknowledgement.. then headed straight to my office.
Elvis met me halfway with a file.
“Good morning, Mr O’Briens”
“Morning!”
“Here’s the list for this week’s food items…also, the kitchen have a new dish today”
“Ok” I replied and collected the file from him.
“We’ll bring in the dish later, we’ll like to know your opinion on it”
I nodded and entered my office.
Peter is already waiting for me inside, I sat on my chair and tossed the file on the table.
“Mr O’Briens” he greeted me with a small bow.
“What did you get?”
He dropped a file in front of me, I reached for it and opened it.. there’s a picture of a baldhead man.
“That’s Justin Marconi, he’s 57 years…he was a very skilled sniper.. he was supposed to be in jail but he broke out and up till now, no one knows his whereabouts… ”
I raised my hand, signaling him to pause. I took a closer look at the man, there’s a big scar on his face and he seemed a little familiar.
“Continue”
“… We don’t know if he’s the assassin or not, but according to our lead, he’s involved in the incident”
I nodded thoughtfully.
“So.. he might be the assassin or he might know something about it”
“Yes, sir. He’s involved, one way or the other”
“Then keep searching for him, he’s our solid clue now and he might be the answer”
“Yes, sir”
I closed the file and pushed it aside, I turned on my laptop.
“What about Henry? How’s he doing?” I asked.
“He’s fine, sir”
“Is dad giving him an headache?”
“No, sir, he’s handling your dad’s company just fine”
“Hmm, we don’t know if he’s clean… keep an eye on him” I said.
“Yes, sir”
I nodded and dismissed him, he bowed slightly and left.
Henry is too nice to me, extremely nice and that’s too good to be true… After all, he’s not my….
“Hey, Thana!” Clark yelled my name as he walked in.
“Why are you still in Las Vegas? What about your job? Who’s doing it? Or you want me to fire you?”
He laughed and sat on a chair in front of me.
“I’m not going back yet, why don’t you give me a job in your wife’s restaurant?”
I narrowed my eyes.
“Hmm, so you can bang all the female staffs here”
I always make the headlines for being a playboy, but they don’t know Clark is the one banging all the ladies.
He winked at me.
“You know me too well.. so, is that a yes?”
“NO!” I said firmly.
He laughed at my response.
“Right…what about the tip I gave you? Did it work?”
I glared at him.
“You suck at it, your tip sucks like you”
He frowned. “Now, that’s not true.. that would have worked on any woman”
“Yeah, any woman not my woman”
He banged the table and curse, then he started blabbing about how he hanged out with some girl last night.
I rolled my eyes, I guess, I’m not gonna work until he’s gone.
