“Alright… I’ve seen the plan and you’ve talked enough about the project…”
Victoria trailed off as she packed her laptop, Arthur’s assistant also packed up their files.
“… I’ll get Mr Hajime to sign the documents and have it delivered personally to you” she smiled.
“There’ll be no need for that, you can mail it over” Arthur said in an aloof tone.
Victoria rolled her eyeballs, she checked her phone on the table briefly.. then turned back to Arthur.
“We’re business partners now and we’ll soon be giving this contract to your company… I’ll be coming back to America and I’ll be the manager of our branch in America…”
“What are you trying to say?” Arthur interrupted her.
She stared at him briefly, she licked her lower lip before continuing.
“We can talk things through and sort out or differences…you know, there wasn’t an official breakup between us…we can still work things out”
Arthur crossed his arms on his chest and leaned back on his chair..he scoffed.
“There’s nothing to talk about, let’s just stay how we are now…I’m currently pursuing another woman”
Victoria’s expression changed drastically, she looked sad and hurt by his words.
“You’re pursuing another woman? Who? Jasmine?” She asked.
Arthur didn’t say anything, she chuckled lightly and stared at him for a moment.
“You see, this was the biggest issue we had” she said.
“What do you mean?” Arthur asked.
Victoria put her hands on the table and leaned on it.
“Have you ever wondered why I broke up with you?” She asked.
Arthur didn’t utter a word, he simply tapped on the table rhythmically.
“It was your fault, Arthur.. I didn’t wanted to leave”
“My fault? So it’s my fault now?” Arthur asked.
“Yeah, you pushed me, Arthur.. you were ignoring me and giving all your attention to Jasmine”
He raised his head at once at the mention of Jasmine’s name..he narrowed his eyes.
“Leave Jasmine out of it, she wasn’t the cause of the problems we had in our relationship!”
Victoria chuckled.
“She was! It was all about Jasmine, Jasmine, Jasmine.. Jasmine this… Jasmine that”
She shut her eyes and inhaled deeply, she balled her fist and banged the table lightly.
“No woman will see her man following and talking about another woman… And wouldn’t get jealous”
Arthur casted an unbelievably look at her, his brows furrowed instantly.
“That was why you broke up with me? Really?”
“Of course, I couldn’t keep put up with it.. I got tired of watching you two getting closer everyday…”
“Do you know what she was going through then?”
“Of course I know, at first, I let it go because I convinced myself that you were only helping a homeless, pregnant teenage girl…”
Arthur glared at her for referring to Jasmine that way, but Victoria ignored his glare and continued talking.
“…but I couldn’t believe that anymore, you kept getting closer and closer everyday…I didn’t wanna be the bad guy, so I decided to break up with you”
Arthur shook his head, he stared at her with great disappointment…as if he couldn’t believe she broke up with him over that.
“You could have talked to me about it, there was nothing going on between us.. I was just helping her and…”
He cut himself off, he stared at his wrist watch and cleared his throat.
“… there’s no need explaining things to you, we’re over and that’s it” he got up.
“No, that’s not it. All these years I’ve been thinking about it, I realized I shouldn’t have broke up with you like that… ”
She paused and reached for Arthur’s hand, that was now resting on the table…but Arthur snatched his hand away before she could touch it.
“…I realized it was quite childish of me… I’m sorry”
“There’s nothing to be sorry about, had you talked to me about this years ago… I would have been the one saying sorry”
He got up.
“Your sorry is not needed right now”
“Arthur… ”
“I’ll be waiting for Mr Hajime to sign the documents…nice doing business with you”
He reached out his hand for a handshake, Victoria got up and quickly took his hand.
“I’m coming back to America next month… and I’ll court you this time” she said in a promising voice.
“You shouldn’t”
“I will” she replied.
“Then don’t blame for being rude!” He said coldly and snatched his hand from hers.
He turned to his assistant, who has been watching them as if she was watching a movie.
“Let’s go!”
“Yes, sir”
Arthur headed towards the exit without taking a second glance at Victoria.. his assistant bowed slightly at Victoria before rushing after him.
“I’m coming to America to court you this time, Arthur.. I still love you!” Victoria shouted when Arthur’s gotten to the exit.
Everyone wowed and compliment her courage.. they wished her good luck in getting her man back.

Jasmine’s pov ?
“Adele, you’re gonna be late.. go to work now” I urged Adele.
Today’s saturday and it’s also my off day, Elvis did it this way so I can spend Saturdays and Sundays with my son.
I’m currently doing some cleaning in the house, Adele is wearing one of my jackets..which seem kinda big on her.
While Davis is eating breakfast, I made an early breakfast for him.. since he went to sleep last night on an empty stomach.
“If you don’t go to work now, be ready to get an earful from Elvis!” I said to Adele in a stern voice.
“Alright, alright, I’m going!” Adele said.
She snatched Davis’s sandwich and rushed out the door, before Davis would burst into tears on her.
“Thanks, Davis…I love you!” She said on her way.
But Davis doesn’t seem to appreciate her selfish affection, he burst into sobs.
“Momma, she took my sandwich” Davis reported her action.
I glared at the door she just ran past, then turned to Davis with a smile.
“Don’t cry, baby, momma will scold aunt Adele when she comes back from work.. ok?”
He nodded and reached for another sandwich I made, while I continued with my cleaning.
It didn’t take too much time, before I finished cleaning the living room.. it’s a small living room anyway.
“Momma, I’m full” Davis said.
I sighed and reached for the TV remote, I turned on the TV and searched for a cartoon channel.
“Come watch cartoons, Davis” I called him over.
“Ok” he replied.
Watching cartoons is the only way I can make him stay in place, because he’s always full of energy after every meal.
He hopped on a sofa and sat down, with his legs crossed like those monks doing meditation.
“We’ll go to the mall later, ok?” I told him.
“Mall?” I nodded. “What are we gonna buy?” He asked.
My eyes scanned his clothes, he followed my gaze and smiled.
“Clothes?”
“Yeah, you’ve outgrown most of your clothes” I told him.
He nodded, but quickly turned his attention from me when the cartoon theme song started.
I rolled my eyeballs… Kids and cartoons!
I walked towards the dinning table to clear the table, I gathered all the plates in my hands and walked towards the kitchen…
Just few steps away from the kitchen, I misstepped and a few plates fell off my hand..and crashed.
“Darn it!”
I exclaimed and quickly bent down to pick up the broken pieces… Davis might come here anytime.
“I don’t have much, but I’m breaking the ones I have.. clumsy me” I blamed myself.
I continued picking it, soon, it’s finished.. but a shard pricked my finger and I hissed quietly.
It’s only me here, there’s no one to blame for this misfortune but myself..
After picking the shards, I took the remaining plates to the kitchen to wash them.

Minutes later, I’m done with all my chores… I massaged my shoulders as I’m feeling tired.
I’m just finished washing the bathroom and I’m currently in my room, ready to take a bath…then Davis and I will go to the mall.

Thanatos dropped a cup of hot coffee on the table, in front of Clark.. there’s another cup in his hand.
He took a sip from the cup in his hand, he sat down on the sofa opposite Clark’s.
“You’ve taken your bath.. does that mean, you’re ok now?” Thanatos asked.
Clark reached for his coffee, he took a sip and ignored Thanatos question.
“Clark, are you ok down there? Is your thing ok?” Thanatos asked again.
“Thana, I’m trying so hard not to remember that horrible scene.. please stop asking about my thing” he replied.
His mind seem to flash back to the scene, he replayed how Adele tricked him and inflicted this pain in him…
He shudder and quickly gulped down the coffee, he dropped the cup on the table and wiped his mouth.
“I’ll so make her regret doing this to me.. who does she thinks she is?” He said.
“Well, she’s Adele!” Thanatos replied.
Clark snapped his head towards him, he narrowed his eyes.
“How did you know she did this to me?” He asked.
Thanatos smirked and drank from his coffee.
“You think I’m a fool? I already figured it out last night, I just didn’t wanna say… I didn’t wanna embarrass you further” Thanatos replied.
Thanatos burst into a short laugh, he shook his head and shot Clark a sympathetic look.
“You shouldn’t have messed with her”
Clark scoffed. “She kicked me when I was down”
“I have told you before, you’ll regret whoring around someday”
There is a moment of silence, as they are both sipping their coffees…both in his own thoughts.
“Are you really flying back to Chicago?” Clark asked.
Thanatos nodded.
“But this is too abrupt, I mean, you’ve not even gotten your woman back yet”
“I know.. I’ll let her know before I leave, and I won’t stay long” Thanatos replied.
Clark nodded slowly.
“Is she gonna agree?”
Is she gonna agree? Thanatos asked himself the question again.
“I don’t know… You can get a cab back to your hotel, right?”
Clark rolled his eyes. “Yeah.. I’m fine now”

Jasmine’s pov ?
I stepped out and waited for Davis to step out too, we’re ready for the mall.
“Baby, come out” I told him.
He bent down and was trying to tie his shoelaces.
“My shoe” he said.
“Come out first, I’ll tie it for you” I told him.
He got up and stepped out, I locked the door and threw the keys in my bag..
I turned to face him, bent down and started tying his shoelaces.
“Are you guys going out?” I heard Thanatos asked.
“Yeah” I replied without raising my head.
He must have come to spend some time with Davis.
“All good now” I said.
“Thank you, momma” Davis thanked me with a peck.
I got up and faced Thanatos, he’s looking down at Davis with a smile.
“He’s such a cute boy” he said.
“Yeah” I replied.
I sometimes wish Davis wouldn’t grow up… I love how cute he is now.
“Where are you guys going?”
“The mall!” Davis exclaimed.
Thanatos laughed, he squat slightly and pinched his cheeks softly..then gave me his attention again.
“I wanna get some clothes for Davis, he’s outgrown most of his clothes already” I told him.
“Alright, let’s go.. I will come with you” he said.
Hmm.. I can’t say no to a free ride, it’s gonna spare me some money.
“Let’s go then” I said.
He nodded and took Davis hand, then led us to his car.

Thanatos parked his car on a space in the parking lot, we got out and headed inside.
“So… when last did you took Davis out for shopping?” Thanatos asked.
“Not often, but the last time I took him on clothes shopping was… almost a year ago”
Davis’s always been small, he’s just growing rapidly recently.. which is quite surprising to me.
“Although, Arthur does buy him a shirt or two sometimes” I added.
Thanatos simply nodded.
“He tried for taking care of you guys all these years I wasn’t here” he said, he sounded sad.
“Yeah.. but you’re here now, you can bond with your son all you want”
And also bond with me too, I wanted to say. He smiled at me, he turned his gaze to Davis who’s bouncing ahead of us.
“Thanks for giving me a chance to be in Davis’s life.. to be in your life…even if we’re just fk buddies” he said.
The way he said the last part, seem as if he’s mocking my words.
“Momma, look, I love that shoe!” Davis pointed at a Gucci lace up boots.
I looked up at the store selling the boots and my eyes grew wide… This is the most expensive kids store in this mall.
“He said he love those boots, let’s go buy them” Thanatos said.
I turned to him with a frown.
“We can’t”
“Why can’t we?” He asked.
My frown deepened.
“This is the most expensive shop in this mall, do you know how expensive those boots are?”
He turned to the boots and studied them, then turned to me.
“They can’t be that expensive” he said and left me.
He walked towards Davis, took his hand and went into the shop with him.. I just stood speechlessly, like a statue.
I have no choice but to rush after them.
“… what do you want us to show you?” I heard the shopkeeper asked Thanatos as I walked in.
“I wanna see that lace up boots, please” he replied.
The shopkeeper nodded and went to get it, I tapped Thanatos shoulder.
“We should go to a cheaper shop” I said.
Buying anything is way beyond my capacity, all my savings won’t even buy a cap here.
“Here it is, sir” the shopkeeper said.
She gave Thanatos the boots and he examined them.. he smiled.
“How much for these?” He asked.
“Just $4,210,000”
My eyes bulged out at the amount… She calls this just? Who calls this amount just?!
“Alright, wrap it up”
“Wrap what up?” I asked.
“The boots” Thanatos replied.
I faced the shopkeeper and smiled at her. “Please excuse me, I wanna have a word with my…”
My what? My baby’s daddy? My fk buddy? Or my boyfriend?
Hmm.. my boyfriend did sound right and pleasing to the ears.
“.. my boyfriend” I completed my words.
I grabbed his hand and pulled him aside, from the corner of my eye.. I could see Davis staring at the boots with excitement in his eyes.
“We can get the same boots at a cheaper rate in another shop.. I know the shopkeeper there, she’ll give us discount too”
He chuckled.
“Baby, that boots you’re talking must be a counterfeit”
I frown slightly.
“What’s the difference, nobody will know it’s a counterfeit”
“Nope! My son ain’t gonna wear a counterfeit.. once we get home, you’re burning those counterfeit stuffs you bought for him”
“Huh? But… ”
“Enough, baby, just let me spend money on my son.. ok?”
I didn’t say anything more, I know he wouldn’t listen to me anyway.. so I just kept quiet.
“Wrap it up” he said to the shopkeeper.
He squatted to Davis’s level, he took Davis’s hands in his and smiled at him.
“Davis, is there anything else you like?” He asked him.
Davis nodded at once. “I like everything!”
Thanatos chuckled and look around. “Alright, let’s get as much as we can”
“Wait, wait, wait.. don’t tell me you’re planning on buying everything he points at”
“I don’t see anything wrong with that” he replied and rushed off with Davis.

I have learnt something today, never again am I gonna go shopping with Thanatos.
He bought everything and anything Davis pointed at.. both important and unimportant.
“Hey, baby, look.. isn’t this cute?” He called for my attention.
I rolled my eyes, I didn’t look because I already knew what he wanted me to see.
“It’s so cute on Davis” he gushed
“Really? That’s so cliche, how can you even buy such shirt?”
He bought a shirt with *I love my daddy most* written on it.. I mean, who does that?
“Davis, do you like this shirt?” He asked Davis.
He’s carrying Davis in his arms, oh, I forgot to tell you guys… everything he bought will be delivered to my apartment later.
“Yeah…I love it!” Davis exclaimed.
I pushed his head slightly.
“You always like everything!”
We stopped by Thanatos car, he opened the backseat door and sat Davis inside.. he fastened his seatbelt.
I went to the passenger seat, after making sure Davis is fine at the backseat.
Thanatos also got in and started the car, he drove out of the parking lot and into the road.
“Right.. baby, I wanted to tell you something”
“What?” I asked.
“I’m going back to Chicago this afternoon” he said.
My heart skipped when he said that and I kinda felt a slight pain in my chest.
“You’re going back?”
“Yeah… I have some stuffs to take care of over there”
“Oh” was the only sound that left my mouth.
He’s leaving already? What if he goes back and get together with his arranged wife?
I thought he’s back to stay with us.. why is he leaving so suddenly?
My heart is hurting as these questions ran through my head.. which I don’t understand why.
