A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 21 – 30

Chapter 30

“You know what? I’m taking this case to court and let the jury decide who is more fit to be a parent?” She said and stood up.

“Let’s go, Darren,” She looked behind me at Tristan, her face twisted in disgust before she walked away with the black guy I assumed was her husband. I didn’t even know she was married.

I wasn’t surprised at her reaction, we had not spoken for three years.

“Ciara,” I called following her outside. Tristan and his Attorney trailed behind me.
“Can you please stop and hear me out!” I yelled.

Thank God we were out of the building.

“What do you want? Haven’t you taken enough from me?”
She said.

I didn’t understand her anymore, she knew the whole thing with Tristan was a lie but she never apologized or felt sorry for what she did.

“Why do you hate me so much? What did I do to you?”
I asked stepping closer.

“Maybe you should ask mom and Dad, just know you’re never getting her back.”

“Where is she?” Tristan asked stepping forward.

“I got this, Tristan,” I told him.

“What the he.ll is going on?” Her husband asked looking so lost.

“I will explain everything in the car, I promise.”
She said to him with a smile.

“Please don’t bring my daughter between whatever you have against me.”

This wasn’t the sister I grew up with. The sister I grew up with was too nice that it irritated me some times.

“Mom never mentioned anything about you having twins, how the he.ll is she your daughter?”

“I gave birth to twins in Cuba, I took one with me and gave the other twin up for adoption.”

“What a great mother.”
She snarled.

“Don’t act like you know the full story or her reason for what she did,” Tristan said in my defence.

“The story about you and your family using her for some kind of experiment, I know the story.”

“We just want her back,” I said hoping there was a nice person underneath the cold-blooded person staring at me.

“She is happy with us and we love her like our blood. You can’t just show up one day and take her away, it doesn’t work that way!”

“Will you just listen to what I have to say?”

“I don’t wanna know your reasons, you can tell the judges your reason for abandoning your daughter when we meet in court.”

“You don’t have to do this, Ciara.”

“We both know the truth little sister, Maddie is better off without you two. She deserves a safe home, you will never be a good mother, Chloe.

Once the judges know who you truly are and psychopath you’re dating, you’re never gonna see her again.”
She threatened.

I balled my hands into a fist and refrained from hitting her.

“I feel so bad for the other twin, if you change your mind and decide to give him up for adoption too, you know where to find me.”
She said and smiled.

“Let’s go, honey,” she took Darren’s hand and walked away.

“Ciara!” I called but she ignored me.

“Well, this is not good,” I heard Andrew say.

“What?” I asked turning around for an explanation.

“If your sister takes this to court, you might never see your daughter again.

There are a lot of things they can use against both of you in court to prove you can’t be a responsible parent and…you’ve both separated.”
He explained.

“They have the upper hand here, try and speak to your sister before it’s too late.”

He said to me.

“I will try and see if there is anything I can do to help, have a nice day.”

“Thanks, Andrew,” they shook hands before he left with his secretary.

“Just when I thought things were getting better,” Tristan muttered.

“I’m calling my parents, they’re my last hope right now.”
I said and reached for my phone.

I explained the whole situation to my parents throughout the ride home. We all agreed to meet in Seattle where Ciara stayed so we could all convince her to drop the case.

My feet were throbbing as we entered the hotel suite. I heard Tristan groan in pain behind me, I turned around and found him clutching the place he was shot.

“Did your stitches open?”
I panicked.

“No, I have not taken my meds. I will be fine.”
He tried to walk past me but I stopped him.

“Let me have a look,” he was reluctant at first.

He took off his shirt and sat on the leather couch. I checked his stitches as I sat next to him.

“Why do you think she hates you?”
He asked me in the silence.

“I really don’t know, she was mad at me at first for ruining her relationship with Sofia’s cousin.”

“Maybe she’s not over her feelings for him.”

“She’s married, Tristan.”
I said and tried not to laugh.

“I never imagined you cutting your hair,” he whispered touching my hair like he was trying to figure out why I did it.

“Less stress,” I shrugged.

He smiled at me staring at my face like he had a lot on his mind to say to me.

“I need to take my meds,” he said and stood up.

“Okay, I will be in the bathroom.”

We agreed to meet my parents at the Seattle Tacoma International Airport.

We drove to Ciara’s house in separate cars. There was a weird feeling in my guts as the car in front of us pulled into the driveway.

The car stopped in front of a white Duplex. Kayla was here, she was ten feet away. Tristan and I exchanged a nervous smile.

“Everything is gonna be fine,” my mom assured me with a soft smile.

My Dad pressed the doorbell when we reached the fancy porch. We heard footsteps before the door opened.

“Mom? Dad?” Ciara called looking surprised. Anger replaced the look on her face when she saw Tristan and me
